From the perspective of someone who sometimes has some cash to redistribute on here, I just want to provide some feedback on [the semi-recent rule changes](https://hexbear.net/post/2803644?scrollToComments=false) in this comm. I don't think all of them are working and I think this comm needs just a little bit more attention to rectify the situation! First, and I hope least controversial: the sidebar desperately needs to be updated to reflect the actual updated rules. Second, similarly uncontroversial, the rules should generally actually be enforced. Not enforcing them consistently is worse than not having them in some cases. This ties into several other issues. Third thing, clarity is needed on whether or not payment details are allowed in the form of not (immediately) personally identifiable usernames. The rule rn says PII/opsec leaks aren't allowed and that payment *links* aren't, but usernames seems more gray. I thought that usernames weren't allowed at all until I re-read the post, and judging by the variety of different approaches to providing payment details in recent posts, I'm not the only one unsure. Fourth thing, I think that strongly encouraging people to update their posts when they receive aid is a good thing for helping spread the community's limited aid resources around more where they are needed most. That's good guidance and I wish everyone did it! Fifth, **and to me personally, one of the most important**, I am less likely to send money, if I have to effectively dox myself to the poster to do it, and when I have to ask for payment details over DM, that's basically what I'm doing (its trivial to correspond who I am by timing and payment method, even if multiple people do send them money, doubly so over multiple different posts over time). It's one thing for them to know my name or my venmo or whatever, but when they can tie that name to a *specific* hexbear account I start to go from "keeping the risk in mind" to "I don't think that's a risk I'm willing to take". So while I can understand the urge to not have posters dox themselves, the reverse is also true. Sixth, as a result of having to DM for payment details (both because of the doxing risk and just the extra steps for both parties), mutual aid posters are currently incentivized to violate or skirt around grey areas of the rules if they want to get more aid. Combined with the lax enforcement/unclear rule, this creates a really sucky situation where people in need are punished monetarily for trying to follow the rules. Seventh, related to #2/maybe #1 and others, I am of the opinion the comm probably needs another mod or two, it's pretty active and can be a fraught topic when there are disputes, and currently there only seems to be one active mod? A further revision of the rules to explicitly allow non-doxxing payment methods to be published, followed by an update to the sidebar, would be greatly appreciated tbh. Or something like that. I appreciate all the work done to keep this site safe and functional and such, but these little issues have been nagging at the back of my mind for months now and needed to get out. Thoughts?

We are now at $65! Thanks to every one who helped. It seems like we're picking up. I'll admit that I often still have anxiety about reaching the goal, but I'm becoming a bit more confident. Hi all, I’m needing some mutual aid to help with getting food for this month. To make a long story short, where I live it is difficult for me to have reliable income. I recently quit my job due to transphobia and violence from a supervisor I worked closely with. I had gotten hired at a seasonal job and promised full time, but they had issues with the permits required and I’m only getting ten hours a week if that. I’ve dealt with housing and food insecurity for so long. I called DSHS to update my address and the fact my rent increased, and had to drop $530 on dental surgery that was necessary. (A tooth infection and a bone graft). But, due to the fact I got a paycheck from my previous job (that went to my dental surgery and some rent), the food stamps office said I only am eligible for $23. I live with a roommate, and we have animals that are old and need food, so the remaining money I have goes to them, and other bills. If anyone can help I would be so grateful! This shit sucks. It'd be almost funny at this point if it weren't wearing away at my soul bit by bit. Still unemployed without having qualified for unemployment. I think I've already applied to pretty much everything I can reasonably get to by bus. Currently looking into temp agencies. Starting today, I'm gonna make a series of posts that are in the format of "[$X / $900] Rent Fundraising Post - Day Y (Deadline: October 1)" I've been having tons of anxiety about meeting that goal because, considering how everything has stacked up over this rough period, I don't currently have any amount for this goal to be honest. I had to take care of a few other things first, but now I'm fairly comfortable in all aspects besides meeting this rent deadline of October 1st, having food and all that. My mental health is really rocky right now, and I'm dealing with harsh feelings pertaining to bigotry like racism, transmisogyny, enbyphobia, ableism, etc. With that in mind, I'd like to emphasize that any amount helps, and when I say any, I mean *any.* My situation feels bad enough that even a $1 donation would make me soy out at this point. Also, strength in numbers is a comforting thing to imagine. Like, if 10 people donated me 10 dollars each over the course of 9 days, that could reach the goal, but ultimately, I appreciate whatever you all have the means to contribute. I will keep these posts regularly updated, by the way! Hexbear is arguably the only place I have access to where I don't have to be fearful when it comes to facing bigotry. Next week, I have two days of training, but other than that, I don't start "real" work until Monday, September 23rd. This is to be a community organizer for a pro-worker nonprofit. I have to cover $900 by October 1st for rent. We were able to accomplish it last time, so I have a lot more confidence that we can do it again. I'd greatly appreciate any support. I was supposed to get a ride to the food bank yesterday but my mom decided she didn't feel like going on the day she was scheduled to leave for a month to visit her sister. I hate relying on her at all but I don't really have any other options. I'm also behind on my phone bill because she insisted that I pay her for previous trips, otherwise she wouldn't have any money to spend on her trip. Phone bill is $80, I've used what I had left from my paycheck to get bus fare to & from work and a couple meals worth of food, but I'm almost through that. Hey guys! I got hit with a fuck ton of overdraft fees and unexpected ubers on the same day I seized out at work. I'm finally kinda coming back to center, and I'm really hungry now. I really don't have the energy to cook something, and I didn't have the energy to call my bank about the multiple overdraft fees before they closed. But they pretty much took my entire paycheck this morning in overdraft fees. I get paid by my other job tomorrow, so I'll be fine, I'm just really hungry after the seizure.

I'm getting low on a lot of things: hand soap, dish soap, dental floss, body wash, etc. I received $45 yesterday from awesome people who decided to help me out, but I used that to get some food in my fridge. I don't know what the exact amount I'll need for each product is honestly because I'm low on so many things, but $20ish should be fine. Overall, I'm trying to strive for a goal of about $900 by October 1st which I'm highly stressed about, among other things. The bad news is that my work situation still seems rather fucked up. The remote job that I apparently got hired by seems to be doing some very sus bullshit. They stated that they pulled me from the "project" that I was "currently working on," but what's really strange about that is that **I have not even started working on anything yet because they haven't even given me any training courses, let alone actual work!** It makes the response they gave seem very automated. I emailed them to get more information regarding these concerns, and I have no doubt that they'll struggle to be transparent. The good news is that I just got out of an interview with a pro-worker organization, and I get my answer from them within 48 hours. Not only that, but they let the people they hire start their job ASAP, so I'd potentially be working the next working day if all goes well. However, I keep my expectations for jobs accepting me low, even if the job is seemingly more leftist and pro-worker. Unfortunately, I did not get in this animal rights advocacy position that I applied for, but I'm decently more confident about this job with the pro-worker org. With all of this in mind, seeing as how it is now September 10th, I want to be rather preemptive in starting to fundraise to cover my rent/bills due by October 1st. The sooner I start, the better, because I'll have no way of telling what my work situation will be until I get more information, but I will definitely keep this community up to date with that. I'm most likely going to need to make multiple posts over time just to provide clarity on how far along I am with covering my bills. The total I need to raise is about $900 for the actual rent/bills themselves, but to be honest, $1,000 may be a tad bit more accurate considering that I also have to purchase necessities like food and hygiene products. **Any** help that **anyone** can grant me is super appreciated, even if it's not financially. The month we (my wife and I) were able to pay for thanks to a very generous donation from this community is up on the 11th and we have nothingr to put towards it due to very little help coming in atm - which means we’ll either have to start coming up with $55 every day in order to not be on the street (we have to stay in a motel right now - no family, support system, and unable to work due to disability so housing is next to impossible and being completely without shelter is a death sentence) or come up with $250 for a week, or $650 for a month in advance. Our phone bills are also past due, which we heavily rely upon for access to funds and a myriad other things for survival as well as communicating with eachother when apart. ~$90 is needed for both bills to be paid. We are down a food stamp card as well so things have been EXTREMELY difficult as of late. Any help is greatly appreciated, rent and phones are priority but we also desperately need $$ for food and medications we havent been able to fill yet either. Thank you all so much in advance. Last night was depressing for me because my partner's not in a good mood, as she's going through a lot of difficulties that I feel like I can't help her through using anything besides my words and emotional support, and I don't know when I'll be able to start working which is making me skeptical if I can even make next month's rent out of my own pocket.
