Keyboard apps stop working correctly in Voyager comment section.

Hi there. I love this app to bits, but recently have stumbled upon a weird issue I cannot seem to resolve. Normally I use the Swift keyboard app from Microsoft but for whatever reason, only when writing a comment to someone, it doesn't work as expected. For instance I cannot use backspace to correct my writing and autocorrect gets disabled. Ive tried to switch to googles keyboard app and the same thing happens there. This strictly only happens in comments as far as I've noticed, and not when writing this. Also only an issue here in Voyager app, nowhere else. Has anyone stumbled upon this issue? Is it known?

It always brings happiness when I see a Voyager update. Thanks [@aeharding@vger.social](https://vger.social/u/aeharding) for continuing to work on the app. Couldn’t imagine Lemmy without it.

Post Size kept getting reset to large

Once awhile the post size setting kept resetting to large. I’m going to guess that every time the app updates, but can’t confirm that. Not a big deal, but quite annoying. I prefer to have compact post size.

Alt/Accessibility text

Is it possible to improve the alt/accessibility text editor in the image post composer? I don’t know if the Lemmy spec supports it, but a multiline text editor would be great if so. On that note, is it possible to preview the alt/accessibility text? I also don’t see where to view it on a live post. Thanks!

Feature request: Allow 'Hide NSFW' slider to be permanently locked

Pretty much the title. Some of us want to reduce the amount of time we spend browsing NSFW communities, but as it stands it's too easy to just turn the slider off. I'm requesting an improvement in the options where you can make the slider permanently locked upon user request (similar to what Infinity for Reddit app has done). Thanks.

Feature Request: Add lemmyverse.net to search options

Hi folks! First of all, huge appreciation for this insane lemmy client. I‘ve been using it for two years roughly and I‘m over the moon about it. I want this app to be even more wonderful so I wanted to share my idea for a more integrated search: Currently, when you‘re on a small instance like mine, you dont see every community on every server you are connected to due to the way AP works. For that reason, I would love to see **all** communities and be able to subscribe to them by using lemmyverse.net as a search option. **Steps to reproduce** 1. make new instance 2. add user 3. connect with voyager 4. type anything in the search bar 5. find nothing Btw I know we already have the „discover“ option but it works different from what I‘m suggesting and is less intuitive and more cluttered than my approach imo. **Suggested behavior** 1. You hit search and get „lemmyverse.net“ as a search option 2. click it 3. see all communities with the content you searched for 4. hit subscribe 5. get content I hope this makes sense to you as I think this will boost the discoverability of lemmy by a huge margin! This would also probably be a unique feature, setting voyager even more apart from other clients (and of course be a great role model for them to follow). Thanks for reading and have a good one.

Way too easy to unsubscribe from communities via gestures in sidebar

It would be nice if it could be disabled, or set to a longer swipe like with in the main one. I can't even remember which community I last unsubbed from accident, just because a scroll was too diagonal for the app.

UI QoL Suggestion - Instance blocking "add" button at the top

Currently in filters and blocks, all the “Add instance/community/user” are at the bottom of the list. I have a large filter list requiring a lot of scrolling to reach the bottom. Would it be possible to have this at the top instead? Alternatively, when selecting a community to block (vis the `…` menu) is there a way to block the whole instance that community is hosted on? Primary use to block instances that are non-english.

Is it feasable to adopt hiding only NSFW subreddits without blocking all NSFW

I just wanna browse all without getting spammed with posts. It's stupid that Lemmy doesn't have an NSFL tag after decade of people complaining that reddit doesn't have one. but I'll settle for this.

Is there a way to prevent taps on a post from taking me to the OP's profile?

Often when I tap on the title of a post, rather than opening the post, it takes me to OP's profile. I think maybe there might be an overlay between the title of a post and the tap area for the OP's handle, or I'm fat-fingering it. Either way, it's a little frustrating. I would like to disable the ability to go to someone's profile directly from my feed so that it takes me to the post whenever I tap anywhere in the title/author/community area. If I would like to go to OP's profile or the community, I could do so from inside the post. Sync has this option as a setting as shown in this screenshot : ![](https://lemmy.autism.place/pictrs/image/55b435d9-f3b4-4965-be2a-4155fcb4a3fc.png) I can't find it in Voyager. Posts keep reverting to "Large" size

I’ve been having an intermittent issue (usually every day or two) where my default view keeps getting reverted to “Large” instead of “Compact”. I haven’t been able to figure out any particular pattern to it thus far, but wanted to see if anyone has had similar issues. It typically happens when opening the app for the first time in a while, but has actually happened two or three times today. Is there maybe a gesture I’m accidentally triggering when I close the app?

[Solved]Show hidden in communities not working

The last three options are not working for me. Sometimes I don't save some useful posts thinking I can find them later in the specific community but then I realized none of the options are respected, posts keep getting hidden. I have disabled auto-hide but it still hides posts on refresh. I'm on android 14. Edit: I ticked "Show read posts" in my lemmy account settings on a browser and now everything works.

Is there a way to show number of upvotes and downvotes on a post or comment?

Old Reddit with Reddit Enhancement Suite used to allow the user to see the number of upvotes and downvotes on a post that comprised the score. It was nice to know if a post with a score of -10 was 3 upvotes and 13 downvotes or 103 upvotes with 113 downvotes.

Idea: make notes/nicknames for users

Some communities, like fark, let you annotate users that you interact with so that when you interact with them in the future have an idea about the previous context with them. I think that would be a good feature for lemmy, able to add a note/nick name that displays any time you see a comment or post by that user

"Hide read posts" not working, what am I doing wrong?

Since about three days ago, I keep seeing read posts on my feeds (local, all, etc) I have disabled the switch to show read posts. I have also tapped the button that hides read posts. The posts appear as read, with a different font color in their title. But they are just not hidden. I have checked the GitHub issue tracker and this community and have found no other person raising this issue. Therefore I assume I must be doing something wrong. But what? I have not touched my settings basically since I installed voyager. Did a recent update break the “hide read posts” behavior?

Private messages keep auto-scrolling to the end of the conversation at a regular interval

When viewing a conversation in the latest iOS app, you are automatically returned to the current end of it every several seconds, which makes reading old posts difficult. As if it’s refreshing or checking for new messages and forgetting where you were in conversation. I don’t remember this being a problem in the past. Also, a graphical bug. When composing a long message the text can overlap the send button. The button still works, but it’s hard to see what you’re typing. Add: I just checked, both of these bugs occur on the web version of Voyager as well.

Copying link for image/video post

On other apps, when an image or video is posted I can long press on it to copy a direct link to it. The best I could find in Voyager is to copy a link to the lemmy post or open the post in a browser. This makes it hard for me to share memes with friends who don't use Lemmy. But maybe this feature already exists and I don't know where to find it. I just started using Voyager yesterday.

Fewer than 20% of Lemmy Apps display posts accurately

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/18159539 > # An Apps Experiment > > cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/18159531 > > ## Introduction > > This is an experiment I performed out of curiosity, and I have a few big disclaimers at the bottom. Basically, I've seen a lot of comments recently about one app or another not displaying something right. Lemmy has been around for a while now and can no longer be considered an experimental platform. > > Lemmy and the apps that people use to access the platform have become an important part of people’s lives. Whether you are checking the app weekly or daily, and whether you use it to stay up on the news or to stay connected to your hobby, it’s important that it works. I hope that this helps people to see the extent of the challenge, and encourages developers to improve their apps, too. > > ## How I did it > > I wanted to investigate objectively how accurately each app displays text of posts and comments using the standard Lemmy markdown. Markdown is a standard part of the Lemmy platform, but not all apps handle it the same. It is basically what gives text useful formatting. > > I used the latest release of each app, but did not include pre-releases. I only included apps that have released an update in the last 6 months, which should include most apps in active development. I was unable to test iOS-exclusive apps, so they are not included either. In all, 16 apps met the inclusion criteria. > > Each app was rated in 5 categories: Text, Format, Spoilers, Links, and Images. I chose these mostly based on the wonderful Markdown Guide from @marvin@sffa.community, which was posted about a year ago in !meta@sffa.community ([here]( https://sffa.community/post/105)). > > I checked whether each app correctly displayed each category, then took the overall average. Each category was weighted equally. **Text** includes italic, bold, strong, strikethrough, superscript, and subscript. **Format** includes block quotes, lists, code (block and inline), tables, and dividers. **Spoilers** includes display of hidden, expandable spoilers. **Links** includes external links, username links, and community links. **Images** included embedded images, image references, and inline images. > > In each case, I checked whether the display was correct based on the rules for Lemmy Markdown, and consistent with the author’s intent. In cases where the app recognized the tag correctly but did not display it accurately, that was treated as a fail. > > ## Results > Out of a possible perfect 10, only 3 apps displayed *all* markdown correctly: > > #### Jerboa (Official) - 10.0 > #### Alexandrite - 10.0 > #### Voyager - 10.0 > #### Summit - 9.7 > #### Interstellar - 9.3 > #### Photon - 9.3 > #### Lemmuy - UI - 9.3 > #### Tesseract - 9.0 > #### Thunder - 8.9 > #### mlmym - 8.3 > #### Quiblr - 7.9 > #### Boost - 7.3 > #### Sync - 6.2 > #### Lemmynade - 6.2 > #### Connect - 5.2 > #### Racoon - 4.1 > > > ::: spoiler Disclaimers > > ## Disclaimers > > ### I Love Lemmy Apps (and their devs) > > Lemmy apps devs work very hard, and invest a lot in the platform. Lemmy is better because they are doing the work that they do. Like, a LOT better. Everyone who uses the platform has access it through one app or another. Apps are the face of the entire platform. Whether an app is a FOSS passion project, underwritten by a grant, or generating income through sales or ads, no one is getting rich by making their app. It is for the benefit of the community. > > This is not meant to be a rating of the quality or functionality of any app. An app may have a high rating here but be missing other features that users want, or users may love an app that has a lower rating. This is just about how well apps handle markdown. > > ### This is pretty unscientific > > You’ll see my methodology above. I’m not a scientist. There is probably a much better way to do this, and I probably have biases in terms of how I went about it. I think it’s interesting and probably has some valuable information. If you think it’s interesting, let me know. If you think of a better way, PM me and I’d be happy to share what I have so you don’t have to start from scratch. > > ### My only goal is to help the community > > I do think that accurately displaying markdown should be a standard expectation of a finished app. I hope that devs use this as an opportunity to shore up the areas that are lagging, and that they have a set of standards to aim for. > > ### I don’t have any Apple things > > Sorry. This is just Android and Web review. If someone would like to see how iOS apps are doing, please reach out and I’ll share how we can work together to include them. > > :::

Feature request: While browsing posts, disable back button taking you to the Communities page

When browsing posts, it's far too easy to click the back navigation button on my device which currently takes me to the Communities page. The problem is, once you move away from the Posts page there doesn't seem to be any way of returning to your previous place in the Posts page. This could be solved a couple of ways: 1. Disable the device's back navigation button from moving you away from the Posts page. 2. Have some method of remembering and returning your the previous place in the Posts page.
