gotta go with pancakes
Got this plant little over 2months ago, and some ofnthe leaves have started to dry out(?) or so it looks like at least. Is this a sign of too little watering? Have tried to keep water consistant, but slightly unsure what is happening. Any tips appriciated!

Oh okay good to know, is there a way to change this though? Would be "cooler" to see the total amount imo.
Hi there, I've just done the switch from NextDNS to PiHole. Simply because I want to test it out + self-host my DNS. I set up PiHole+Unbound two days ago, and yesterday the amount of "Queries blocked" was much higher that it is now. But this morning the number was down back to 100ish. Is this normal behaviour, is it supposed to reset the counter? I'd rather it didn't. Let me know if this is my fault or a setting I've managed to miss. Thank you.

Very pretty! Mind sharing the wallpaper?
Genuinely curious as to how these types of giveaways work and what the company gains from them. Is it the additional data you give them to enter the giveaway? Also does anyone own one of these cameras, are they actually worth redeeming in this case?

When I first got into self-hosting I started out using Tailscale, at that point i didn't know better and figured it was all or nothing. It has actually worked flawlessly to be fair. Probably not the best or smartest decision of my life. But am now slowly wanting to turn to just a clean WireGuard setup.
Sunny 5 days ago • 100%
Yeah that is true. Its just that it makes things so dead simple for other friends and family to join in on. Its defo something i need to re-evaluate.

I have everything connected over Tailscale, and strictly only use IPs delegated through this system. So i realise now that I have to step away from that if I want to make it work locally :P

It probably does tbh, I'll have to check the documentation to double-check though. Anything that isn't foss tends to get a handful indeed; Jellyfin genuinely is a better experience than Plex imo.

No not really... Would just like it to be an option IN CASE it were to happen...
Hi there! Wondering what types of setup people have that allow them to, while the internet is down, still watch/stream media from their servers. I have a stacked Jellyfin library that, and would like to see this feature/setup in my own house. My Unraid server is on the other side of the house from where the living room is. Is there actually a sane way to achieve this?

Totally agree with the mentions of Wireguard and Tailscale. They make this super easy. Have done exactly this myself before, for the same use case.
However at the time, i had to change something in the server-properties config file in order for it to work properly. Minecraft servers still authenticate users when hosting yourself (afaik). This however isnt possible over a mesh netowrk like wireguard/tailscale. I simply had to change a boolean value of the line called something like, server-online, or online-mode..
Best of luck!

This seems like a solid choice for those of use looking for a obsidian-like replacement. Personally tried **all** editors out there, but nothing is able to defeat my love for obsidian. However, i look forwards to trying out Haptic when it comes to Linux. Currently it only supports Web and Mac. But state Linux and Windows support is on-the-way. Kudos to selfh.st that provides consistent updates within this community and who shared this among other cool projects this week -> https://selfh.st/newsletter/2024-09-06/?ref=this-week-in-self-hosted-newsletter

Thanks for sharing! What size is your usb-stick?
Looking for recommendations for a versatile USB stick with Ventoy. I'm trying to create the "perfect, all-in-all" USB stick using Ventoy to store various ISOs and rescue tools. So far, I have the following ISOs: - Arch - OpenSuse TW - NixOS - Bazzite + AuroraDX - Win10 ISO - Clonezilla I'm looking for suggestions on additional ISOs or tools that are compatible with Ventoy. What do you recommend adding to make my USB stick to make it more useful?

Bazzite is the only one that I have the right one to go with.
Bazzite I can do it on the porch and floor.
Bazzite to be a good time for me and the boys.
Godammit these gave me a good laugh!
As far as I know there are these; - Camel case = coolFileName - Snake case = cool_file_name - Kebab case = cool-file-name - Pascal case = CoolFileName - Dot notation = cool.file.name - Flat case = coolfilename - Screaming case = COOLFILENAME Personally I prefer the kebab/dot conventions simply because they allow for easy "navigation" with (ctrl+arrow keys) between each part. What are your preferences when it comes to this? Did I miss any schemes?
Am currently sick with a bad throat. While enjoying my cup of coffee, I had the thought; "Should I avoid coffee if I have a bad throat?". So, are there any studies or general consensus on this?
Hi. Tried to install nix but am stuck with an issue I'm not able to resolve. Whenever I boot the system, it uses approx 5min on the boot-up of Nixos Stage #1 as seen in the picture. After a while it will boot into the system but without a GUI. I've done the installation twice, with different isos to make sure I didn't do it wrong. It only works if I downgrade to nixos 23.11, but if I update(+plasma 6) from there It results in the same problem. The error is: > kernel: Acpi Error: Aborting method (long string) due to previous error (AE_AML_UNINITIALIZED_ELEMENT) Have no idea what this error is, and there don't seem to be alot of info on it. Reaching out here to see if anyone is able to help me troubleshoot this, as I would really like to try latest Nixos.

Only recently discovered yt-dlp, despite its popularity. However I was wondering if I were to use this, should it be used behind a VPN when downloading videos off public websites? https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp
Hiya, so looking to download videos of certain websites. So far been using https://www.downloadhelper.net/ extension to download the videos manually, but it turns into a very tedious process after a while. Looking for a way to automate this process :) Let me know if there are any tools, programs or solutions to grab *stuff* off the internet.
Hi there, I just acquired myself the Sennheiser Momentum 4, mainly for using while communting + work. But figured i'd try them out for some gaming too. They work just fine when watching YT or any video, but when I launch a game the audio quality changes significantly. I have no idea how or why its doing it, nor how to fix it. I've tried all of these different audio profile options, but all of them make the audio either distorted, weak, or make it sound like the audio is trapped inside a room... Anyone know how to go about this? Audio works fine with my normal non-wireless headset. My system is running [Bazzite](**https://bazzite.gg/**). Appreciate any pointers to how to resolve this.
Believe I also turned off all "promo" emails and communications of any sort in the settings while i did have linkedin... thinking about just straight up deleting it now instead of leaving the profile deactivated.
Just wondering how you guys balance the mix of these. Our cats looooove wet food, but keep it as a treat for every now and then. Have to keep the wet cat food in a plastic sealed container as our cats will tear through the box they come in and dig their way through haha.
Thought id share a recent finding i stumbled upon, as someone who both loves the CLI and markdown, this was a true gem to find for me. Hope others will enjoy it as much as i do :) **What is it?** > Glow is a terminal based markdown reader designed from the ground up to bring out the beauty—and power—of the CLI. Use it to discover markdown files, read documentation directly on the command line. Glow will find local markdown files in subdirectories or a local Git repository. Hi there. I need to use my phone for work, but want to isolate anything that is work related. What's the recommended way of doing so these days? Found the Foss app called Shelter, but found it to be a bit buggy and seems to have been a while since previous update. Let me know about any tips or recommendations regarding this! 🙌
Hiya, just getting into networking and recently completed my Tp-link Omada stack, which I'm very pleased with. Have heard great thing about all three mentioned services above, but struggle to understand which to go for. Do they have different use cases? Is one easier than the other? Which one is recommended to begin with?

Hi there, I'm still a bit new to downloading *.iso's*, but think i've got the gist of it. I've been following the Trash guides along the way. However one thing that I don't understand is why Im getting such varied download speeds for the *.iso's* im downloading. Some of them will download at KiB speed others will be downloading at mbs speed. As far as I know, I can not download any faster than whatever the speed its being uploaded, correct? Is there anything I can do to improve these speeds? I have 1000mbs/50mbps from ISP. I've also setup qbitorrent to sit behind gluetun+openvpn connection from ProtonVPN. Other than that there are some config changes which have been done according to TrashGuides recommendations. Thanks for any suggestions! 🏴☠️
Hi there, just started using Librewolf and when im using a terminal via the browser Librewolf is loading it rather weirdly. How can I fix this? This website in specific is supposed to load my terminal.
Considering the recent news/proposal from SUSE about OpenSUSE rebranding - what do you think would be some fitting names for the distro/community?
Update: It was DNS... its always DNS... Hello there! I'm in a bit of a pickle.. I've recently bought the full budget Tp-link omada stack for my homelab. I got the following devices in my stack: - ER605 Router - OC200 Controller - SG2008P PoE Switch - EAP610 Wireless AP - EAP625 Wireless AP (getting soon) I've set it all up and it was working fine for the first few days of using it. However, last few days it's been working very much on and off randomly(?) . Basically devices will state they are connected to WiFi/Ethernet, but they are not actually getting it. (As seen in the picture). This is happening with our phones(Pixel7+S23U) and my server(NAS:Unraid), have not noticed any problems on our desktop PCs. So it is happening on both wired and wireless, as my server and desktop PC is connected to the switch. I haven't done many configurations in the omada software yet, but am assuming it's something I have done that causes this... Would greatly appreciate any advice to solve/troubleshoot this!
Hiya, just switched to LibreWolf due to Mozilla's recent actions... Just quickly wondering why these two "privacy preferences" are off by default? Are they not worth ticking off? Or is this another "part" of ones fingerprint that makes it more unique?
