There's no way any amount of hats they can sell would make a dent in a wasted 8 year long development that had like 700 players max. They're even removing the merch from the store, I'd imagine the bad PR of having these things around is worse than getting the money from selling them.

Yeah their other stuff was even worse. They had a mug, a t-shirt and a hoodie. Those 3 things had cheap letters put on that looked like they would come off in a couple washes. I only got the hat because it had a patch that couldn't wash off. It's all very generic and low effort.

They had problems selling it on gear.playstation.com, I had to contact like 3 support people and they eventually submitted a manual order directly to the warehouse (?). They said they had an order to remove certain items from the site but it hadn't gone through yet. They didn't specify which items, but I'm sure you can make a good guess.
Edit: The title is just a meme, but I did legitimately buy one of these just to have a memento of the biggest flop in gaming history.

Mine didn't either when I lived in a dorm. I got around the network block.
- Plug Xbox 360 into ethernet wall port
- Log into uni network, get internet
- Plug router directly into pc.
- Assign router same ip as Xbox
- Spoof router mac address to match xbox
- Unplug from pc
- Quickly swap cable in wall from Xbox cable to router cable, Indiana Jones style
- Internet for 1 month. Repeat monthly.

If you've been using Linux for 20 years that makes sense, as I have a lot of applications I used on windows that are not available on linux and have no alternative in any repo or flatpak, only as weird little projects on github (that don't work half the time). So I've spent a lot of time trying to replicate a resemblance of my work flow and QoL luxuries. Your work flow has been refined over that 20 years with little windows influence.

Yes the world of github and linux is vast and I am like a newborn baby. I hope to visit your bubble one day my friend.
I've been transitioning to Linux recently and have been forced to use github a lot when I hadn't much before. Here is my assessment. Every github project is named something like dbutils, Jason's cool photo picker, or jibbly, and was forked from an abandoned project called EHT-sh (acronym meaning unknown) originally made by frederick lumberg, forked and owned by boops_snoops and actively maintained by Xxweeb-lord69xX. There are either 3 lines of documentation and no releases page, or a 15 page long readme with weekly releases for the last 15 years and nothing in between. It is either for linux, windows, or both. If it's for windows, they will not specify what platforms it runs on. If it's for Linux, there's a 50% chance there are no releases and 2 lines of commands showing how to build it (which doesn't work on your distro), but don't worry because your distro has it prepackaged 1 version out of date and it magically appears on flatpak only after you've installed it by other means. Everything is written in python2. It is illegal to release anything for Mac OS on github.

Thanks for posting.

That's not what they were referring to. I have a setting on my pixel 7 (and have had it on 2 older pixels) that automatically listens foe music playing anywhere around the phone and shows the title on the always on display and on the lockscreen. It samples audio once every several seconds and listens for music and if it hears some it activates, records some of the song, and finds the info. The battery usage is negligible in my experience and it's actually very useful, if you don't care about privacy.

No script lets you individually allow js on certain sites, even specific sources. Block all by default, allow safe sites or temporarily allow other sites based on need. I started doing that this year and it hasn't been nearly as much trouble as I thought it would be.

Hey, very cool app. One thing that could be a massive improvement is the ability to tap the thumbnails in "compact mode" to open a bigger version of the image without loading the whole post. Boost (for reddit and for lemmy) has something like this (though not as snappy as I'd like), and relay for reddit had the perfect implementation of this. It was quick and easy. You tap the thumbnail to blow the image up to the max screen width, tap again to dismiss the image. Ideally there would be no lag between when you tap and when the image is loaded, same with dismissing. (I disabled double tap in relay so the image dismissal didn't wait for a 2nd tap, making it quicker.)
Obviously this is a very nice and niche feature, so it might be outside the scope of the app. But if you find yourself itching to add some features, keep this in mind :) It would fit well with the "fast, fluid browsing" theme of the app.
I took a video to give a quick example but uploading it to lemmy.world isn't working, I don't want to share my youtube account, and I don't want to make you download a random file from a file sharing site, so you can check out this behavior in those 2 apps if you need an example.

It happens consistently with any mander.xyz community. Errors nearly identical to this: `{"error":"unknown","message":"Request error: error sending request for url (http://pictrs:8080/image/original/4083b4bb-ab1d-45cc-9ff0-72280ce5c2ff.jpeg): operation timed out"}` This time it was this image: https://mander.xyz/pictrs/image/4083b4bb-ab1d-45cc-9ff0-72280ce5c2ff.jpeg It only happens with images. I only browse on mobile, android. I've had it happen in Firefox and the boost app, haven't tried it anywhere else. Let me know if I can provide any other info that will help. This only happens to me with mander.xyz, and consistently happens every evening with nearly all images. Maybe 1 out of 20 times I'll get lucky and an image will load. There are too many communities I like here so I haven't just blocked it yet, hoping it can be fixed eventually. :) Edit: I did see that other post about broken images but it looked like the error was different from the one I always get so I made a separate post.

I am a beginner and I chose Pop OS. It has a more up to date kernel (and I've heard more up to date software too) and it worked well for me. I did have to install some gnome extensions to get the UI how I liked it because I didn't really like it out of the box. But it's great.

I had to pay 4000 yesterday because I went to the hospital for a heart-related scare which turned out to be nothing (and some low potassium) after some tests. That was with insurance. Without, it would have been just over $75,000.
Edit: I stayed at the hospital overnight for 3 days and 2 nights.

Yeah I actually randomly came across it as a video recommendation. I had given up on my search. Crazy how that works :P
Edit: solved! https://youtu.be/VVQz6jE3X50?si=qkItmXh5HbkKpZ8x So it's somewhat old, as far as video memes are concerned. I think it was a vine. There is one guy in frame. There is a high pitched tone playing. Maybe a fire alarm or something. The guy says something like "hey does anyone hear that? Kinda sounds like aaaaaaAAAAAA". He attempts to mimic the obnoxious sound, too low of a pitch at first, but adjusts upwards to nearly match it right as the video ends. He holds his arm up with his hand horizontal as if to describe the pitch of the sound as he tries. All of this is only maybe 5-6 seconds long. I cannot find it. I have searched high and low. Google has failed me, or rather my googling skills have failed me.

That was hilarious, thanks for sharing.
I'd love to use this as my main app, but gestures are hard for me. I'd love it if I could tap once on the screen to dismiss media that was brought up by tapping a thumbnail (in compact view). Ideally there would be very little delay between tap and dismiss.
I recently got a touch screen panel, 1280X800, and the screen is on 24/7 (which is fine). The only problem is it's in my peripheral vision when I'm at my desk and it by default cycles through some stock images when not in use. The image changing catches my eye easily, and it's just a little annoying. So I decided to put a single static image on it. Does anyone here have any static image you keep on your wall-mounted displays when they aren't in use, or any ideas for such an image? I was going to fall back on just disabling the image all together and have the actual interface showing, but that's boring. I was thinking of something related to my home, saying like the {surname} household, or maybe a picture of my cats or something funny, I am not sure either way. I figured some of you here might have thought about this already and might have some good suggestions.
I have had food poisoning all night and day. Lemmy kept my spirits up with a steady flow of posts to laugh at.
First off, amazing app. I didn't use boost for reddit, but currently this is the best app for my personal uses that is out there. I use the small cards with full width images. I mainly browse by tapping the image to expand the preview. Previously, I used relay for reddit with a very similar layout. I have 4 features/changes that I would love to see options for. 1. I am left handed, and I have the image thumbnails on the left. It's very difficult for me to reach the floating button to hide read posts. I cannot do it while holding my phone in my left hand. An option to put the button in the middle or on the left would be nice. 2. One of the best features of relay was how quick it was to open and close images. All of the images would pre-load the hq versions so when I tapped, there would be 0 loading at all. I've noticed some loading with boost for lemmy which isn't super annoying but it would be cool to avoid. 3. Relay had an option to disable double tap to zoom in previews. This means that when you would tap an image to dismiss, it would not wait for the double tap and would disappear immediately. This is the single biggest difference between the 2 apps that I notice regularly. It does get kind of annoying, having to wait every time. There is currently no lemmy app that has this feature. 4. When dismissing an image, it simply disappears. It would be cool if the image "shrunk" back into the thumbnail location which would make it easier to see which post I just opened in case there are similar looking image thumbnails next to each other, such as text images. Relay also has this. Again, I'm not trying to bash the app. This will be my app of choice going forward and I've already purchased the ad removal. It really is a fantastic app. I'm just throwing some ideas out there that could be cool :)
