Because it’s gotten so much stronger, I actually smoke less to get to that “sweet spot,” which saves me money.
Won’t catch me complaining.

I thought so, but my benign comment was deleted by mods for… I have no idea. It’s not in the mod log.
Edit: it was removed as a “conspiracy” because I wasn’t aware someone else was injured.

It really is. It’s already bordering on intolerable. By 2050, I assume only the wealthy will have the luxury of not dying from a heat stroke.

Sorry, that was a poorly worded response on my part. Thinking back, I’ve watched France stand up numerous times (if memory serves) against this type of hard-right nonsense.

I never thought I’d say this, but America needs to be more like France. They didn’t forget what fascism looks like.

Those mods are… special.
I wouldn’t care if other instances just blocked them outright. It would suck for those who are registered there, but to me, it’s no different from defederating from Nazi apologists.

Seems like it was a separation anxiety thing. I stepped outside for a moment because a friend showed up, and she seemed panicked? Like I wasn’t going to come back.
Admittedly, as gross as it was, it was funny. I just pictured her being like, “Oh, you’re going to go outside for a moment to say hello to your friend? Well take THIS.”
I got this wonderful little monster from a shelter 6 years ago. She was a crazy, unruly spazz as a puppy. She pooped inside one of my shoes once. Destroyed a recliner (it was barely recognizable as a chair when she finished). But I can honestly say that she’s the best damned dog I’ve ever had. When I tell her “I love you,” she barks three times, every time. Anyway, that’s it. That’s the post.

True. I wonder if they’ll roll out a broader version that’s cloud-based once the cloud version is trained and IP16 sales are at a spot they’re happy with.

Even though I have a 15PM, I’m still bummed about older devices not getting the “best” new features. I know it’s related to RAM, but shouldn’t the cloud-based version work on older phones?

Backing this post. NextDNS pretty much blocks everything, even ads in games. And in some games, you can tap the “watch ad to get X” and no ads show up, but you still get rewards.

I smoked for years, then woke up one day and realized I didn’t like it anymore. Left half of a pack on my bedside table. Spent three days grinding Neverwinter Nights (yusssss), and was over it.
I’m lucky as hell, though. Some people simply can’t quit. Plus I have other vices. I basically can’t sleep at night without smoking weed, for instance.

I’m still addicted to Baldur’s Gate 3, so I completely understand
I’m currently using Memmy for Lemmy, Mammoth and Ice Cubes for Mastodon, and the official Pixelfed beta. Also using Insporation* for Diaspora, but I wonder if the devs have abandoned it. Wish there was a dedicated Friendica app as well. What are you guys using primarily? I wouldn’t mind branching out a bit.
I’m not really sure why this doesn’t appear to have a settings toggle, but every time an image is sent in iMessage, *some* location is sent, whether it’s yours or location data from the image itself. I’m assuming it’s the original location of the photo taken, but I’m not sure. I tested it by sending an image to myself (which was surprisingly difficult in iOS 17), and there was no data attached, but it was an image downloaded from Imgur.
This is truly an aspect of humanity that I can’t fully grasp. I understand stereotypes and, to a degree, why they exist (this is just a personal rant or I’d elaborate). But as far as humans making personal choices that don’t have any bearing on the existence of others, and the judgment they receive for them, I just… don’t. For instance, if someone is gay/straight/trans, in what way does that affect people who seemingly dislike them? I can’t understand why it invokes such negativity in some. It doesn’t have any impact on their lives personally, so why be bothered by it? Racism is another thing. How can someone judge an entire group based on a singular bad example? I’m not really **trying** to understand the motivations of people who judge; I’m more just confounded by the entire thing. We have such little time here, and we seem to always find reasons to hate. And to what end? How does this help **us** by constantly dwelling on what we perceive to be “bad” or “wrong”? I don’t know. I feel like a major part of the problem is media constantly putting us against each other. Whatever. Kill your tv or something.
Indica or sativa? I prefer indica. Never triggers panic, makes me happy and relaxed.
Specifically, Data. I think my dog is smarter than I am.
I’ll try to keep this short (haha good luck), but one thing I’ve noticed is a human tendency towards either looking *at* the negative aspects of the world/life and fixating on them, making them our primary focus, or looking *for* negatives. I wonder sometimes if those who look at the world through a negative lens are actively looking for “a good fight” to give them purpose, or if maybe they can’t avoid seeing it. Granted, the world is a fucked up place. But truth be told, it always has been, and so long as humans inhabit it, it will continue to be that way. But it’s our immediate “world” that seems to catch the mess from it, at times. I remember reading a psych study that demonstrated the differences in two couples: one that acted “normally” (getting home from work, complaining about their day, etc.), and another that made a conscious effort to strip that away and look at the positives in their lives. After a while, the former couple had all of the issues one would expect to encounter, while the latter fared much better, even to the point of becoming closer and much happier. TL;DR - It’s hard, but I think consciously making an effort to appreciate the small things in life that make you happy can have some pretty amazing long-term benefits. I’ve recently been doing this, and feel less weighed down by things. [Article discussing this much better than i can. ](https://greatergood.berkeley.edu/article/item/the_neuroscience_of_happiness)
So I’ve noticed that, in most cases, if you sort by “Top: Last 6 hours,” a lot of posts (obviously) won’t show up. This is mainly true for threads that don’t have many comments, updoots, or both. Could we maybe have an option to select “All”? Some of the smaller posts may be completely overlooked. If I’m missing the option and it’s already available, feel free to nuke this post from orbit.
I think people put *entirely* too much emphasis on the type of job someone has/how much they make, and not enough on whether or not what a person does makes them happy. There’s almost this sick obsession in the west with work. Case in point: I’m a musician. As a job. Do I make a ton of money? Fuck no. On some tours, I’m lucky to break even and pay bills. But the fact that I’m enjoying my life means more to me than the amount I’m bringing in. I **still** get side-eyed every time I mention what I do for a living to others. Sometimes people ask, “Oh, but what do you do *for a living*, as if being able to survive while concurrently being happy isn’t “enough of a job.” Fuck that. Do what makes you happy. Time is the only “currency” we spend that has any value, and that we can’t get back.
Clearly, this is a mildly directionless community, but I wanted a place to post things that didn’t fit into other communities.
Most likely the security fix that was issued recently for 16, which explains the small size. So far, the only fix I’ve noticed has been the accessibility option to use personal voice (the keyboard initially covered the prompt, now it’s back to normal).
It’s been so awesome watching this whole thing come together (and so quickly). Thanks for all the hard work that’s been put into this project, and for creating such a great app! (Note: I’m running the beta, which is why the pic shows it isn’t downloaded.)
Noticed the community is kind of quiet, so I figured I would ask those who are beta testing iOS 17: how has it been on your device? For me (iPhone 13 Pro Max), battery has been meh, but some of the new iMessage tweaks are nice. Really was hoping for more interactive widgets, and a redesigned Control Center, but overall it isn’t bad.
