Helldivers 2 is currently occupying my mind 24/7. Yes there are a few bugs here and there, but the game is just so good they don't really matter in terms of spoiling the experience. It is a 4 person co-op game and its really fun if you find a group of friends you can play with, or a good group of randoms who communicate. However, you can play solo, you just need to change up your playstyle for certain missions, like go a bit stealthier. Honestly try it, and if you want to try the group aspect of it join the official discord where there are lfg channels you can find people to play with.

Honestly i think as citizens we should start setting up guillotines outside parliaments. That should remind them that they may feel invulnerable but we can always get them.

Bonus: to really scare them, set up a little cooker thing with a table next to it. The phrase "eat the rich" comes to mind, though in this context it would be more like eat the powerful

Not surprising that they used the Irish Data Protection Office to implement these. They probably paid them off quite handsomely, or they are simply incompetent. Im leaning more towards a mix of both with incompetence being higher given how my reddit case was handled with them.

Hopefully it will snowball and have a ripple effect on other EU countries.

As far as I remember it was so that they couldn't use it to create their own paid version. I think the dev wanted it to be free, but found this loophole. If I find the video I'll edit this comment and link it

Edit: i was partially wrong above. Its not for the reason I thought it was, but rather as a business strategy. Individual users keep it relevant so theyre allowed to keep it for free, while businesses have to pay for the license to avoid being sued. Businesses are its main source of revenue. Here is a video explaining it. Its not the video I remember watching, but it seems to be correct.

Correct me if im wrong, but I think I read/watched something a few years ago which basically explains why winrar has a free trial but never actually enforces it. It had something to do with copyright law details, and how making it a paid product extends the copyright protections on it so that corporations cant legally use the code for a longer time. Im not sure if I'm even remembering it correctly, because it was several years ago

I would like to but I have no idea what to write in it. Also, based on previous interaction with my DPO at the time of the reddit fiasco (and if I'm not mistaken as per the GDPR) I first have to attempt to contact the entity holding my data before filling in a complaint form. Furthermore as I have stated in another comment, I have completely lost faith in my country's DPO after having to go through them for reddit's non-compliance with the GDPR, and honestly believe they are just incompetent and don't fully understand the laws their entire position was created to defend.

I have little faith in my country's data protection officer who is responsible for handling stuff like this. I had to deal with them while making a complaint about reddit not complying with the GDPR by not allowing me to remove upvotes/downvotes in a reasonable manner, and also after manually deleting all my posts and comments there were still 2 comments that show up on my reddit profile only if it is viewed "signed out" (i.e. from an incognito browser), but not while I am signed in to the account. There is no way to delete them from within my account. The reply I got from them after several months was that since there was no identifiable data in those 2 comments and since after deleting the account it would show up as u/deleted that my case was closed.

The incompetence of my government officials (more so than any other country) would be a laughing matter if I wasn't so angry about the whole situation.

tl;dr: My country's data protection officer and office is a joke and I have lost faith in them to be able to handle anything. I am considering going directly to the Irish DPO if that is who meta ultimately answers to.

Blackjack game as a learning experience - Request for suggestions, ways to make it better, advice etc... github.com

Hello everyone :) I recently wrote a small blackjack game where the challenge I set myself (and the learning goal) was to use pointers to do stuff. So for example instead of having all my functions written in such a way as to avoid using pointers I would use them wherever possible. It works in its current form and seems to do so quite well, but I would like to learn even more from this project. So here I am asking for your experience. Please give me any suggestions, advice, ways to make it more efficient in terms of memory used, ways to make it more efficient in terms of speed (I know memory and speed might not be so important for a small project like this but my goal is to practice and learn the underlying concepts), criticisms, best practices, or anything you that comes to mind when you look at the code. As an example of what I mean, I would like to make it so that the arrays which hold the player and dealer hands are not of fixed size on declaration, but grow and shrink dynamically as cards are added and removed from them (practice memory allocation/deallocation). I hope I provided enough info about what I am looking for in a clear manner, but if not please do ask for clarification/additional info. Thanks in advance!

Server down earlier. Thoughts on having some form of "backchannel" communications?

Hello everyone! So earlier tonight the server seemed to be down for a while. What are everyone's thoughts on coming up with some type of alternative independent back-channel communication method to get short-form updates about outages and other important community updates (community as in for our server, not a lemmy community). Obviously this ultimately depends on how the admins and mods of this instance feel about this; how willing are they to invest time into setting that up if its something that will not be run and modded by us but by them, and how willing they are to actually use it if it does come to pass. I am thinking something like mastodon is quite good for this task, but of course if anyone has any suggestions or other ideas please share them. Let's get a discussion going, if this seems like a good idea to you write your thoughts about what you think is the best way to go about it, and if it seems like a not so good idea share those thoughts and reasonings too!

As a helpdesk guy, this type of issue happens with microsoft office just as often. People tend to memorise where the thing they use everyday is, and any update that changes where it is or how it functions "breaks" their flow of doing their task. We as technical people tend to simply have the skills to use a search engine to find out where it moved/how to solve our problem, but they dont.

While I havent been using libreoffice that long or as intensively as a government enployee would so I cant comment on if its the best OSS office suit for this situation, Im just happy they are starting the switch away from microsoft and CSS and finally waking up.

I think MSF is a solely US thing, but there are for sure alternatives here in Europe. At least in my country to get a license you need to complete a certain number of hours with a certificied instructor, and they do teach different skills like body position, emergency braking, slow and high speed maneuvering, as well as eventually taking you out on the roads and practicing in a real commuting scenario.

One thing thats different (not sure if its not a law or its not enforced) is that each instructor will have different equipment. For example when I started lessons before covid cut them short right before my exam my then instructor would take me to a parking lot he had a deal with to use in the evening, and just had cones for exercises. My now instructor after I restarted post covid has a friend who has an events venue with a massive parking lot, cones, and even bluetooth communication devices for the helmets. So now we can communicate while im doing exercises and also while out on the roads... The amount of times I hear him in my ears yelling (in a joking way) "TRAFFIGATOOOOR" before I sheepishy switch it off is too damn high 😂

Whatever path I end up taking, I guess having the default firmware saved is always a plus just in case something goes wrong in the future. As for the remaining part of your comment, I don't think I'll mess about with that too much. I already have fairly easy access to windows PCs at work that I can try this stuff with, I just prefer not having to rely on them too much for personal stuff. GMMK Tenkeyless Gateron Brown - Customise RGB

Hello everyone! I just got my [GMMK Tenkeyless](https://www.microcenter.com/product/622639/glorious-gmmk-tenkeyless-rgb-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-gateron-brown) keyboard, which is the first one I own with RGB. I would love to be able to customise the RGB, but being brand new to it I'm a bit lost. A little preface: I am on Linux. I think this is important later on when I mention Via. So to start, I looked on the supported keyboards page on the qmk website, and couldn't find my keyboard by searching for GMMK. Furthermore, if I go to the [Glorious Gaming site](https://www.gloriousgaming.com/collections/keyboard) I can't find any other keyboards other than what appear to be their current flagship ones (hence I can't find any specific board information or anything like that). One thing i did find is the software for the GMMK 1 TKL [from here](https://www.gloriousgaming.com/pages/glorious-software?software=GMMK%201), but it is an .exe and hence I can't use it. I did think of running it through wine, but given that there will be firmware flashing involved I'd rather not risk going through a compatibility layer or messing anything up. I also tried the [Via webapp](https://usevia.app/), but when I try to `Authorize device` I get a browser popup in my permissions section which states that there are no compatible devices found. I'm unsure if this is because it is not supported by Via or if its because it can't detect it because I am on Linux. I also went through the [qmk configurator](https://config.qmk.fm/#/primekb/prime_o/LAYOUT) but unsurprisingly my specific model was not in the list seeing as I couldn't find it in the supported keyboards list I mentioned earlier. So finally for my question: Is there any way I can configure the RGB on my keyboard without having to find a windows machine and using the GMMK 1 software? Many thanks in advance!

[SOLVED] [C] Blackjack game - array has 0s in first 24 elements immediately after initialising with values from 1 to 13

EDIT: Literally 1 second after I pressed the post button I got an idea and thats what it was. Why does that always happen? xD The solution was that my player_hand[] and dealer_hand[] arrays had a size of DECK_SIZE / 2, but I was initialising them to 0 from within the for loop where I was initialising the deck[] array (which has a size of DECK_SIZE), so the last 24 0s of one of those where overflowing into deck[]... Hello everyone! I am trying to make a simple blackjack (21) game in C, to practice some pointer stuff, and I am running into an issue with the function that initialises all my arrays. The way I am going about setting everything up, I have an integer array for a standard deck of 52 cards (values from 1 to 13, each 4 times), an integer array for the shuffled deck, and 2 more arrays for the player and dealer hands (irrelevant at this point as they are not used yet). My issue is that after successfully initialising the deck array (the non-shuffled one) and outputting the values from within the for loop that sets them, I get what I expect to see which is: 1, 2, 3, ..., 13, 1, 2, 3, ..., 13, ... (so on for 52 cards). But when I output each value from a different for loop in the same function, the first 24 elements (0-23) are 0s each time I run it. I can not figure out why that would be. I ran my program through valgrind which reported that there were no memory leaks. Here is the relevant code: ```c #define DECK_SIZE 52 int initialise_decks(int* deck, int* shuffled_deck, int* player_hand, int* dealer_hand, int size) { printf("=================INITIALISING==================\n"); for (int i = 0; i < size; i++) { deck[i] = (i % 13) + 1; player_hand[i] = 0; dealer_hand[i] = 0; printf("deck[%d]: %d\n", i, deck[i]); } printf("+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++\n"); for (int i = 0; i < size; i++) { printf("deck[%d]: %d\n", i, deck[i]); } printf("+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++\n"); return INITIALISE_DECKS_SUCCESS; } int main() { srand(time(0)); int deck[DECK_SIZE]; int shuffled_deck[DECK_SIZE]; int player_hand[DECK_SIZE / 2]; int dealer_hand[DECK_SIZE / 2]; int initialise_status = initialise_decks(deck, shuffled_deck, player_hand, dealer_hand, DECK_SIZE); if (initialise_status != INITIALISE_DECKS_SUCCESS) { return INITILIASE_DECKS_FAIL; } return PROCESS_EXIT_NORMAL; } ``` If you need to try it out for yourself [here is the link to the github repo](https://github.com/promitheas17j/blackjack)

    Jump
  • promitheas promitheas 7 months ago 100%

I started with ubuntu initially, and appreciate the fact that it wasnt entirely foreign to me coming from windows. Being a techy person, whenever something broke I obviously had to use the terminal to fix it (because all forum posts online use it for troubleshooting) but it was nice to ease into it. Once I got comfortable with that I then moved on to more non-windows like distributions, and eventually ended up where I am now - with arch and a tiling window manager - something entirely different to windows. If I had started with this Im not sure I would have stuck it out.

So my take on your take is that while you have valid points, we need to always take situations with context. Sure, I wouldn't (and don't) recommend super windows-like distros to the guys at my work (IT) who are more technically capable, but if my grandmother or grandfather used computers and for whatever reason we needed to make the switch to linux, I would try to make the transition as seamless and familiar as possible, so I might even have made their UI look like windows. Computers are tools at the end of the day, and every person has something different they want to get out of them.

Going back to my first playthrough after a long time, what do?

Hey guys, so after a long break due to a mix of building a new PC, exams, work, and a bunch of other stuff I am finally going back to try and complete my first ever Dark Souls 1 playthrough. Problem is, I'm a bit lost on what I was doing. I have a checklist in my note app for each boss I've killed, so maybe someone could guide me on what I should probably be doing based on that: * Asylum demon * Bell gargoyles * Taurus demon * Capra demon * Moonlight butterfly These have all been defeated. Thanks in advance!

How to fix T480s/T490 keyboard connector (images for context inside)

Hey everyone. A while ago I ordered a keyboard from ebay for my T480, but I failed to notice that the one I got was for the T480s, therefore not compatible with my laptop. In the process of checking it out I lifted one of the connecting tape thingys (idk what theyre called) and some of the black plastic covering on the back of the keyboard ripped a bit. Its completely unused and new otherwise, and just been sitting in its packaging since then. A few weeks ago I came across a local shop that also has some thinkpad stock, and I'd like to see if they'll buy it off my hands. I want to repair it first though, and the obvious first thought for someone inexperienced like me is to use some kind of glue. I didn't do anything yet, so here I am asking for advice. Would using some kind of super glue cause any issues? If yes, what is a good way to repair it? ![1000011164](https://iusearchlinux.fyi/pictrs/image/453b7567-49f4-478e-ae2c-617ef0435b37.jpeg) ![1000011163](https://iusearchlinux.fyi/pictrs/image/29ebf241-72fd-433e-bf24-377d3d0b11b5.jpeg)

Linode Alternative Suggestions for Small Projects

Hello everyone. I just tried to create an account with linode and got the automated cancellation email due to fraud, which left a bad taste in my mouth about the company before I even had the chance to get started. So I am looking for alternatives that won't break the bank, have linux options, and are fairly easy to use once you get up and running. I dont need to do anything complex, just host my small hobby projects that I'm hacking away at. I don't have anything ready now, but I thought that with new years and all that it might be a good time to snag some deals. Do you guys know of anything that fits? Thanks! Edit: Decided to go with Oracle's Always Free option, as at this time being a student (i.e. poor) and just wanting to mess around and learn I can't justify going with a non-free option when a free on is available. I am however stuck on the part where I need to create my instance. I'm getting the out of capacity error, which after reading up on means there aren't available resources for my selected region. I can either try again daily to see if at some point they will be available or select a different region (which as far as I can tell means closing and reopening the account which I want to avoid).

Associate Discord Server Invite Links With Discord Through xdg commands

Whenever I click a server invite link in my browser for example, I get the xdg-open popup window which in turn opens my browser with a link in the following format: discord:///invite-proxy/**some numbers** I'm relatively familiar with xdg-mime commands, but I'm not sure what the "filetype" I should be associating with my discord.desktop file should be. Anyone that can help? Thanks

Im seeing a lot of these posts so heres mine

I've been seeing a few of this type of post, so I decided to share mine. Now, you might be wondering "why the heck is this guy posting his steam playtime chart in a Linux gaming community, when most of it is windows?" Well, that's because Linux is part of the chart. Last year it wasn't. Just like all previous years. However this year, even if late in the year, I have playtime on Linux. About half a year ago I built my first PC with Linux in mind from before getting the parts (first time I knew I'd be using predominantly Linux from the start). I still have my windows disk because I haven't got round to moving all the files from there yet, so its still formatted as NTFS and just mounted so I have easy access. I havent booted it since building the PC. I havent needed to. Sure I cant play Destiny 2 or Apex for example, but ehh. Never really played Apex much before anyway, and I'll live without destiny 2. Heres to 2024 being 100% penguin, or at least being far more than windows 🍻

[Solved] Can not for the life of me get WoW working with Lutris

Hello guys. I am trying to play vanilla wow using private servers with lutris, and can't get anything to work properly. I stumbled across [this post](https://iusearchlinux.fyi/post/342060) which has people discussing this topic, but interestingly there is a [link to github docs](https://github.com/lutris/docs/blob/master/WorldOfWarcraft.md). I follow the instructions in both [this](https://github.com/lutris/docs/blob/master/WorldOfWarcraft.md) and [this](https://github.com/lutris/docs/blob/master/Battle.Net.md) but even so, when I go through Lutris to add a game and select to search website for installers, then search for battle.net and follow the installation steps I get the error below: ``` lutris-wrapper: /home/mart/.local/share/lutris/runtime/winetricks/winetricks Started initial process 513661 from /home/mart/.local/share/lutris/runtime/winetricks/winetricks --unattended arial Start monitoring process. ------------------------------------------------------ warning: You are using a 64-bit WINEPREFIX. The closest I got was by directly running the WoW.exe file for a client I downloaded with wine from the terminal. The game started up without audio, and then obviously I wouldn't be able to put in my private server's credentials to log in. Please help me EDIT: I ended up installing battle.net through bottles and I'm currently installing Diablo3 and Hearthstone - will see how they play. As for WoW classic, whenever I run the 1.12 client I have in its own bottle it opens and then crashes. If I switch the runner to caffe it takes longer to crash, but my mouse seems to disappear when I take it over the launcher and I can't click on anything. EDIT 2 SOLUTION: I skipped lutris/bottles altogether and as per a commenters suggestion I looked into adding it as a non-steam game to steam. It ended up working beautifully! [Here is the video I watched that shows how to do it on a steam deck](https://piped.video/watch?v=xRJ7TIeOhOw)

    Meta payment message

So I got the message from instagram about either paying or using it free (at the cost personalised ads) just now. ![1000010454](https://iusearchlinux.fyi/pictrs/image/88f07573-f1ed-4d7d-8c72-225b22e19ca5.jpeg) Doesn't this go against the GDPR? Either way, is there a FOSS alternative for instagram like piped is to youtube? It seems like a good opportunity to stop using the official app, even though it would be better to not use instagram at all (sadly not an option for me right now). Any suggestions, and if so, are there any that provide functionality for: stories, posts, dms? Those are the 3 things I use instagram for. Many thanks! Edit: For messaging I do use beeper, though some media like carousels and posts sent to my dms cant be shown in there, so for those cases I open the official app. Edit 2: many people have suggested pixelfed. Ive heard of it, and want to use it, but unfortunately the only reason Im still sticking with instagram is because I have very dear friends who would never change to anything non-mainstream. Theyre important enough that im willing to not delete it just yet, but I dont want to agree to either pay or pay with my data. What im looking for is more like a piped for youtube, thing. So a frintend that has instagram content/features, but isnt the main app and avoids the problems I listed above Edit 3: I ended up installing the site as a PWA on my phone as thats the only device I use it on, and uninstalled the official app. Thanks to everyone for all your input!

Recommendations for wifi antenna, preferably from Alfa

Hey everyone! I currently have an antenna which is a realtek chipset (yuck) that I had to load the drivers myself. Even though I loaded the drivers from [this github repo and keep them updated](https://github.com/clnhub/rtl8192eu-linux), I'm still getting issues like constant common disconnects, slow speeds (even though on my mobile connected to the same network I may get 6 times the speed), etc... I think I'm ready to pay up and get an antenna that has proper support in Linux, and I found this one after a little bit of searching online: [official alfa link](https://www.alfa.com.tw/products/awus036axml?variant=39754360684616). My question is if this is actually well supported, or even if there is something better I could get (without making me even poorer). What do you guys think, and what are your experiences? Thanks! Edit: came back here after a while to edit in case someone comes upon this in the future. I ended up ordering this one: [AWUS036NHA](https://alfa-network.eu/awus036nha) fron Alfa. It has the ath9k chipset which is included in the kernel, so it seems like a good choice. Will try to remember to come back after I get it and try it put to give my comments.

Advice for making a simple web app for university project

Hello everyone. This semester at uni I'm taking a course which requires me and my group to create a complete software project. Out of the available topics we chose to make an airline ticket booking app, much like skyscanner.com. It is my responsibility to handle the majority of the coding aspect of the project, so I would like your advice. I would like your thoughts and recommendations on what frameworks/languages/technologies you recommend we use to implement the project. I would like to avoid anything complicated that will take a long time to learn, as I only have a limited number of weeks to deliver. However we do need to be able to have a decent looking frontend, a backend that will allow users to login either as passengers or administrators (them being the ones who manage flights and handle passenger accounts etc.), and passengers should be able to at the very least input a departure city and time, and arrival city and time and get a list of available flights back (the flights don't need to be real-world flights, we can generate that data to simulate the app). I've checked out pythons flask, but (correct me if I'm wrong) while simple it seems too much so. I would need to handle user authentication, creating and connecting any databases etc. all manually from pretty much scratch. I'm interested in finding that middle ground of simple enough to get up and running with quickly, while not so simple where I need to learn 1000 other things just to get a prototype up and running. Thanks in advance for your suggestions! Edit: I asked my professor for advice and as he suggested I decided to go with bootstrap and sqlite. Im still open on suggestions to do the authentications though :)

How to set "suspend when inactive for: " power settings without xfce4-power-manager so that my desktop doesnt sleep automatically

Hey everyone. Basically I need to do what the title says. I did have xfce4-power-manager installed and had it set there (had the setting disabled so that it wouldn't suspend after inactive), but xfce4-notifyd was creating problems with dunst which I installed and setup last night, so I removed xfce4-power-manager and xfce4-logind. However now after a few minutes of not doing anything my PC sleeps. There must be a setting somewhere I can edit which is the same thing xfce4 uses to implement this, no? Either a file or another power manager software which will not cause problems with my dunst. Thanks in advance for all your help and suggestions!

CCNAv7 - Question on applicability in real life self hosting situations

Hello guys. This semester at uni I'm taking a Network Fundamentals course which is basically Cisco's Introduction to Networks course (we're literally doing just that). Im wondering how applicable and if so in what ways it is to real life situations where one might want to setup their own home network. I realise that if you don't use cisco equipment the commads will be different, but if we consider the fundamental knowledge, will what I learn doing this course help me in the future when I will be setting up my own "server room"? Thanks! 😁

BSPWM + SDDM + xfce4-power-manager : Any way when waking from suspend to go to SDDM and have that setup as the "locker"?

Hey everyone. As the title suggests, I use bspwm, with xfce4-power-manager and sddm installed. I have the power manager setup that I can hibernate/suspend (still a bit confused as to the differences between the two but its besides the point) everytime I hit a button on my keyboard to "sleep" I get the popup below: ![](https://iusearchlinux.fyi/pictrs/image/773ca438-401e-46cd-bc1f-4b37293db1ab.png) I'm not aware what application is stopping the sleep, nor if it is something I should worry about, but if I click Yes then my system goes to sleep. Hitting any key after that wakes it up, without me having to enter any password. I know there is software I can install and setup to do that function, but I was wondering if there is any way I can configure xfce4-power-manager to use sddm as the "locker" program, so that it takes me to the sddm login page when waking. Thanks in advance! Edit: I just tried to sleep and this time this is the popup that appeared: ![](https://iusearchlinux.fyi/pictrs/image/13e709d1-93b6-4129-8c06-4cda307de7ae.png)

[SOLVED] Help with wifi after general issue in my building

Hey everyone. So Last night there was a general problem with my building's network connectivity. This morning my landlord let me know it was fixed, which it was. I verified this from my mobile phone as well as the laptop I am using right now to write this post. However on my fairly new and hence barebones desktop running arch, I simply cant get NetworkManager to connect or even in some cases see any wifi networks. This morning, it would occasionally show me the available networks, I would try to connect to my one which would work, but I would for all intents and purposes not have internet until a few minutes later the connection would drop. Now it doesn't even show any available networks. Below are the outputs of some commands I thought would be useful. Of course it's probably not a comprehensive list so please do ask if you would like me to run and show the output of another command, just know I need to redirect it to a file and then transfer it here with a usb so its a bit tedious. ``` $ systemctl --type=service UNIT LOAD ACTIVE SUB DESCRIPTION alsa-restore.service loaded active exited Save/Restore Sound Card State dbus.service loaded active running D-Bus System Message Bus kmod-static-nodes.service loaded active exited Create List of Static Device Nodes NetworkManager.service loaded active running Network Manager polkit.service loaded active running Authorization Manager rtkit-daemon.service loaded active running RealtimeKit Scheduling Policy Service sddm.service loaded active running Simple Desktop Display Manager systemd-fsck@dev-disk-by\x2duuid-12341dff\x2db2b7\x2d4b67\x2db390\x2dcf28a63530d3.service loaded active exited File System Check on /dev/disk/by-uuid/12341dff-b2b7-4b67-b390-cf28a63530d3 systemd-fsck@dev-disk-by\x2duuid-6b1c0137\x2d0b2d\x2d4366\x2d92a4\x2dc374d0e89e02.service loaded active exited File System Check on /dev/disk/by-uuid/6b1c0137-0b2d-4366-92a4-c374d0e89e02 systemd-journal-flush.service loaded active exited Flush Journal to Persistent Storage systemd-journald.service loaded active running Journal Service systemd-logind.service loaded active running User Login Management systemd-modules-load.service loaded active exited Load Kernel Modules systemd-random-seed.service loaded active exited Load/Save OS Random Seed systemd-remount-fs.service loaded active exited Remount Root and Kernel File Systems systemd-sysctl.service loaded active exited Apply Kernel Variables systemd-tmpfiles-setup-dev.service loaded active exited Create Static Device Nodes in /dev systemd-tmpfiles-setup.service loaded active exited Create Volatile Files and Directories systemd-udev-trigger.service loaded active exited Coldplug All udev Devices systemd-udevd.service loaded active running Rule-based Manager for Device Events and Files systemd-update-utmp.service loaded active exited Record System Boot/Shutdown in UTMP systemd-user-sessions.service loaded active exited Permit User Sessions user-runtime-dir@1000.service loaded active exited User Runtime Directory /run/user/1000 user@1000.service loaded active running User Manager for UID 1000 LOAD = Reflects whether the unit definition was properly loaded. .bin/check_installed.sh:fc:3: no such event: 1 when trying to run a set of commands from script that work fine when ran in the terminal directly

Hello everyone. I wrote this command in the terminal directly and got the desired and expected output - that being the last 50 occurrences of me installing or removing a package with pacman or yay: ```history | grep -e 'pacman -S\s' -e 'pacman -R\s' -e 'yay -S\s' -e 'yay -R\s' | tail -n 50 > ~/history_installed``` I now want to make this runnable as a script for obvious reasons, but when add it to a script and run it I get the following error: ```/home/user/.bin/check_installed.sh:fc:3: no such event: 1``` Here is my entire script: ``` #!/bin/zsh {history | grep -e 'pacman -S\s' -e 'pacman -R\s' -e 'yay -S\s' -e 'yay -R\s' | tail -n 50} > ~/history_installed ``` Note: /home/user/.bin is in my path. Verified by successfully running another script in there from a different location. Please help me figure this out if you could. I am running zsh with oh-my-zsh. Thanks in advance!

At wits end with sxhkd and layouts!

Hey everyone. So I am running bspwm with sxhkd, and while keybindings set by default work (i.e. super + enter opens terminal which I changed to alacritty) I can't seem to be able to add any new ones - at least that will work. I've looked into it extensively and the majority of the posts seems to be talking about locales and keyboard layouts, but I can't seem to find anything wrong with my ones (of course I only have two eyes, so your input is appreciated). The classic is the super + space trying to run the program launcher, in my case rofi which does nothing (running ```rofi -show drun``` from terminal directly works correctly). Here is the output of the ```localectl status``` command, but of course I will provide output for any you request: ``` $ localectl status System Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 VC Keymap: uk X11 Layout: gb ``` My .xinitrc contains the following lines: ``` ... localectl set-x11-keymap gb systemctl --user import-environment DISPLAY ... ``` I start bspwm from my .xinitrc, and sxhkd from bspwmrc using the following line: ``` pgrep -x sxhkd > /dev/null || sxhkd & ``` Any ideas on what I can do? Any commands you need me to run? As I said in the title, I'm at my wit's end. Thanks in advance! EDIT (ADDED CONFIG FILE LINK): https://pastebin.com/uknPbrjj Edit2: came back to say after a system update it just works normally

Hey everyone. I'm thinking of maintaining an iso for my setup once I have that the way I like it. I wouldn't publish it so it would just be for me. How easy would that be to do? Would it just be a case of rebuilding the iso every week/month to get the updated packages in it, or is there more to it? Thanks!

Making custom arch iso for reasons below - question about minimum required packages in live environment for default installation

Hey everyone. So I need to make a custom iso because I don't have access to the router from my apartment and my wifi antenna uses the ```rtl8192eu``` driver, which is not included by default. Hence, I decided a custom iso was the way to go. I don't want however to bloat it up, and since I'm making it on my laptop which is running Endeavour OS I can't trust the ```packages.x86_64``` file in the ```releng``` directory to be the default plain arch install package list (following the ```archiso``` instructions on the wiki). So what I am actually asking for: Before building my iso, what are the packages that the actual maintainers of Arch Linux would put in the ```packages.x86_64``` file, which we would have access to from the live environment, that I should also include (plus the 5 packages I want to make sure I have, which is the custom part of this iso)? How I understand it reading the install guide as well as a couple forum posts, the only truly necessary packages for an arch installation are ```base```, ```linux```, and ```linux-firmware```. Correct me if I'm wrong please. After installing archiso on my endeavour os laptop I had around 130 packages in my ```packages.x86_64``` file. Many seemed unnecessary. Thanks in advance! Making telescope.nvim find_files show hidden files by default - Following ThePrimeagen's guide www.youtube.com

Hey guys, I'm following the tutorial above, and in his video he doesn't do anything specific to show hidden files, but it works for him. My ```.config/nvim/after/plugin/telescope.lua``` file looks like this: I've looked up solutions but they all use a different syntax, and none work for me. Any idea how I can make the find_files command also show hidden files by using this syntax? Thanks! ![](https://iusearchlinux.fyi/pictrs/image/55e8c190-4f7a-4bba-946d-6dc389f2f569.png)
