Just switched to Fedora after bouncing between Ubuntu and Manjaro. Really digging Fedora and kicking myself for waiting so long to try it out.
BlueDepth9279 9 months ago • 100%
Doing the same but with Fedora on my old desktop. I’ve been messing around with Linux for some time now but this is the first time I’ve tried to put a serious attempt into setting up a development environment and move to Linux for gaming.
I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to get the games working. Now if I can just figure out how to get vortex or MO2 to work to mod Bethesda games I’ll be happy.

I was gifted a new laptop with windows 11. It’s a great laptop but windows is dragging on me. I already went full time Linux on my desktop so I may have to at least dual boot on my laptop. Anyone with experience dual booting from an external drive?

Same here. I lost my ~12 year old account. Been on Lemmy since. I find myself doomscrolling less which is nice.

Protonmail and SimpleLogin have been amazing. I have a Gmail account but rarely use it for anything but throw away accounts.

I agree with how unpopular this is! I’d rather have cereal with no milk than soggy cereal.

I mix running and cycling 7 days a week, 30-45 min each day. I do strength 4-6 days a week, 15-30 min each day moving between upper body, lower body, core, body weight, etc. The strength schedule dictates what I do for cardio, for example I’ll typically target a run and legs the same day knowing the next 1-2 days I’ll need to bike to recover my legs.
I always do cardio first, no reason why, just started doing it that way and it’s been working for me so I’m not inclined to change it.
The only exception is I’ll try and do a boot camp style workout 1-2x a week for 45-60 minutes which mixes my strength and cardio.

I usually eat lunch in about 10-15 minutes during a meeting so I don’t have a choice to slow down and get sleepy. That kicks in later on the drive home.

Great info! You should post this in the LaTeX community (latex@lemmy.ca seems to be one of the more popular ones).

Defense looks suspect, but at least the offense is moving the ball and special teams is coming up with some big plays.

Drink wise, Dom Pérignon. It was not worth $300 or $400 I paid for a bottle. It was good, just not that good.
Food wise, probably a $90 steak at Chicago Cut. Worth every penny.

I have the 13 pro. I used to upgrade every 2 years since the iPhone 3GS. I think I’m going to skip this one and see what the iPhone 16 brings. I just don’t see enough of an update to justify the cost.

Ha true. I find it nice though. Then I can walk the lots on Sunday’s casually car shopping without being pestered by a salesman.

Come to the Chicagoland. Not only can you buy alcohol on Sundays but you can buy it pretty much wherever you want (gas stations, Walgreens, CVS, etc.).

It does and it mostly hits the same areas of why I’m looking at Xbox and Game Pass. I have a growing family and would rather spend time with them then messing with a PC, as much as I enjoy doing those things. The idea of being able to fire up Xbox and play something off Game Pass when I have a random 20-30 minutes free is appealing. Thanks for the info!

How do you like the Xbox Series X? As much as I want to build a PC, I don’t have the time to build one so considering just getting an Xbox and get Game Pass. The last console I had was PS3, so it’s been some time. Even at that time though, I had about 3 games for it so I didn’t use it all that often.

I just started using it a few days ago and have been really impressed. Been Memmy, Bean, Voyager and Avelon there are some solid iOS apps. Looking forward to them all maturing but it’s promising so far.

Memmy and Bean set the bar for iOS Lemmy apps, at least to me. Excited to see how Avelon stacks up.

For me I think it’s the niche communities aren’t built up yet. If I’m looking for a conversation about a specific football team or game, etc there isn’t as much content here that I can find on Reddit.

Same. I use my gmail accounts for junk mail and have been moving everything actually relevant to proton through SimpleLogin aliases.
Not sure how I feel about this. Not a huge fan of Lewis, but I suppose the experience will help. [The Score](https://www.thescore.com/nfl/news/2686623)

But can you use it? I’ve worked places with things like that, gaming rooms for breaks, etc. and it was mostly just for sore and never used.
Anyone else using the 5G home internet? I just hooked it up today to see if it’s a viable solution since my Xfinity bill went up to $200/mo. I’ve only used it for a few hours, but it seems pretty decent. Anyone have some decent run time that can provide feedback on long term usage?

Small issue. But I have sound effects turned on in settings. When I upvote something there is an audio tone. However, when I put my phone into silent mode via the switch on the side of the iPhone, I still get an audio tone when I upvote something.
I turned off sound effects for now, but I think the app audio settings should be overridden by the phone settings (silent mode in this instance).
Let me know if you need more info.
Thanks!

I’m giving T-Mobile a try soon since it’s $50/mo vs the $200/mo I pay for Comcast internet and cable (don’t use cable but it was cheaper as a internet & cable bundle for awhile). If I get similar speeds to what you got with T-Mobile I’ll be happy.

On iOS Memmy is a really good app given how new it is. Just found out about Bean which is really impressive for just entering TestFlight.
BlueDepth9279 1 year ago • 100%
Memmy is amazing, but the latest update was a step back with respect to bugs so I switched to Mlem for the last few days. The Memmy developers were releasing updates once a day though so that couldn’t sustain forever. I’m sure the app will bounce back.
That being said, the little bit of time I have used bean it’s been very impressive, I already seeing this be my go to Lemmy app. The app is polished and has a lot of features so far! Great work!

Completely agree. I like the idea of Flatpaks and use them when I can but I’ve ran into issues that existed only in the Flatpak version of a program. Installing the traditional package resolved all issues.

What the title says. What are you plan on playing starfield on? Xbox or PC? I have a PC I built around 2011-2012 and only upgraded the GPU since then. It runs games like Skyrim, Fallout, City Skylines and Civ6 at highest settings. I’m a pretty sure I’ll need a new PC. What are all you planning on using to play starfield? I’m leaning towards PC because I enjoy modding games but curious what you with Xbox think. Will modding be easier on Xbox now that there is no PlayStation version?
I’ve noticed that I can’t subscribe to certain communities. For example if I search for Memmy and click on subscribe, the heart goes from an outline to a filled heart and I get a notification that I subscribed to memmy. However, if I exit the Memmy community page and then re-enter, the heart is back to just an outline as if I’m not subscribed and it doesn’t show up in my subscribed communities. Not sure if it’s a Memmy problem or a federation problem. My account is through Lemmy.world, have consistent problems with Beehaw and Memmy is on Lemmy.ml.
