T-Mobile made waves back in 2021 when they automatically set user privacy settings to on by default for sharing customer info with advertisers. It made a lot of people angry then, and a new setting that’s appeared in the same settings is once again enabled by default. A new toggle has shown up in the T-Mobile “Privacy Center”, and it appears to have first been spotted a month ago on Reddit. The toggle is for allowing “automated profiling” of your user data to analyze and predict how a user might behave, particularly when interacting with support. Well, I just spent an hour with customer service. First trying to gain access to my own bill. Then trying to understand why I'm being charged for Pandora Premium "on us", which clearly is not "on us", and I never signed up for (T Mobile assured me I did). Made me wonder how many others went from a free Tidal account to a not free Pandora account. Anyone else?
I'm hoping someone here has recent experience and can tell me how things worked out. We have international data and sms built into our plans and really, that's all we need. We know we're covered there. We'll be travelling lesser-known and well-known sites in Italy and I'm concerned about connection quality and connection speeds. We did okay in the past, but always found ourselves doing anything meaningful when we got back to our room (WiFi). Does anyone know if we should expect 2G, LTE, 5G? Just tried to send a friend a story about Parkinson's from lemmy.world and every single time TMobile strips the link from my SMS. They let tumblr.com though. I just looked up if they're actively censoring other sites and, yes. They are. They claim they're only doing this to obscure domains (.xyz and so on) but I just watched a YouTuber demonstrate .com censorship too. Earlier today, T-Mobile unveiled a new update to its network: network slicing. In a blog post, T-Mobile EVP & Chief Technology Officer, John Saw, described what network slicing is. Saw also revealed that they were already able to use 5G network slicing for a remote video production on a commercial network.

T-Mobile and Best Buy go way back — and by way back, we mean just about two years as of now. Users could look through and shop T-Mobile’s plans and devices from Best Buy stores without needing to go to a T-Mobile location. That way, T-Mobile became more easily reachable by users. The partnership was sort of an extension and expansion of the agreement between Sprint and Best Buy prior to the acquisition of Sprint by T-Mobile. Unfortunately, not everything lasts forever. The carrier is apparently ending their partnership with Best Buy, and the retailer will not offer the carrier’s services through its stores anymore. As per a Reddit post and independently confirmed by us here at The Mobile Report, T-Mobile will not renew its contract with Best Buy, which first entered into effect in 2021. As a result of this change, T-Mobile’s plans and services will be slowly phased out over the course of the next few weeks. Best Buy will remove T-Mobile’s landing page from its website on August 31st, and two weeks later, on September 14th, the retailer will end all exchanges and activations in stores. From the period encompassing September 15th to October 1st, only returns will be allowed. These will shut down as well on October 1st, ceasing all links between T-Mobile and Best Buy completely. We’re not exactly sure of the reason behind this fallout, as neither T-Mobile nor Best Buy have commented publicly on the matter. It’s likely that as we near August 31st, some sort of public announcement will be published by one or both companies, given that the timeline we detailed above will probably need to be announced so users are aware of what will happen. For now, though, we can only speculate on what’s happening here. It’s definitely an important loss, however, given users were able to snag really good deals on phones sold through Best Buy during shopping seasons such as Black Friday.

Last week, it was revealed that T-Mobile will no longer be offering Tidal as a perk to its customers. The company stopped offering the music streaming service as a perk yesterday, August 1st. And now, we’re learning what the Un-carrier’s next plan is. In the original report, T-Mobile promised that it would be replacing the service soon. The publication obtained internal communication documents where employees were told of a new perk that will be replacing Tidal. As it turns out, select Magenta Complete customers will now be given access to Pandora. The document shares that only customers on a Plus or Premium rate plan will be offered the Pandora on US perk. The primary account holder on the plan will receive an SMS with a redemption link. The offer must then be redeemed by October 31, 2023. This will give them a one-year subscription to Pandora Premium. Meanwhile, customers who were affected by T-Mobile’s decision to stop offering Tidal received an email from the streaming service. The email contained a payment method so that they can continue using the service. Anyone else using the 5G home internet? I just hooked it up today to see if it’s a viable solution since my Xfinity bill went up to $200/mo. I’ve only used it for a few hours, but it seems pretty decent. Anyone have some decent run time that can provide feedback on long term usage?
Hey folks, I'm guiding some extended family on switching to T-Mobile from Consumer Cellular (AT&T Sims). They were switching sims with T-Mobile ones from Consumer Cellular, since CC used to support T-Mobile and AT&T. Anyway, given that switching, I'm worried they may not qualify for the third line free. Is this something that can be verified before they switch?
Looks like online orders get activation/dcc fees waived. I saw on another site that the last day is tomorrow, and that this will apply in store as well, tho have no confirmation of those.
