I'm not paying for Telegram and I haven't noticed missing out anywhere because of it. I'm using the APK file instead of the Play Store version because the latter censors Russian media channels (and I hate censorship). I wasn't even aware there were premium accounts.
I'm in 2 dozen channels, have a few friends who mainly use Telegram instead of the competitors and I haven't noticed a single issue, except for their homegrown encryption scheme.

It's basically a streaming service with a library that you fill yourself. It doesn't matter if you use a laptop, app or streaming dongle to watch the content. I'd say that it's easier to watch content if you already own a dongle like a Chromecast though.

You pay for the amount of storage you want, then you select whatever torrents you want to download, either via a browser extension or services like chill.institute that look through common torrent search engines for you and give the opportunity to download instantly to your put.io account. You're completely in charge of your library and put.io won't show you anything you didn't download yourself.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd skip the shots and rely on my immune system. Something definitely wasn't right with these shots, in my view.
There have been sane scientific reports about impurities and traces of foreign DNA being found in samples of the vaccines from all vendors and a study implying that two shots caused cancers in mice (https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/oncology/articles/10.3389/fonc.2023.1158124) doesn't inspire confidence either. I know all the "fact checks" around the topic, no need to link me to it. They're all written by people with no medical expertise.
The entire reporting about the pandemic was (in my opinion) highly unscientific, excluded critical voices (real doctors, not some snake oil salespeople) and came basically down to "just have faith in the science" and I feel terribly stupid for having participated in the sharade (not implying the entire pandemic was fake, but the way it was handled) and I hated myself for quite some time for having given into the pressure instead of listening to my intuition.
These vaccines definitely screwed with my health. My heart didn't perform as well for about a year (confirmed by a doctor), I felt fatigued despite having been active and fit despite the lockdowns (also confirmed by a doctor), I definitely had some issues with blood flow/clotting and my lymphatic system is definitely still trying to get rid of something.
I'm not giving health advice here but please be aware that even if we accept the official number of 1/10000 likelihood of the vaccines having severe side effects (and I don't think that's true anymore based just on observations in my family and social circles, like women having screwed up periods, several miscarriages of otherwise healthy women, sudden appearances of cancer in people under 50) - if you're the 1, it'll fuck you up and no one will give damn. After talking to a few people who now can no longer work after having taken the shots, prepare for massive gaslighting, especially from doctors. Don't trust in whatever is left of social security systems to care about you. They've all been told they're imagining things or that they just had a genetic predisposition and would've had these issues even without the shots.
My trust in the medical establishment is at an all time low. And now they're planning on dumping mRNA into everything, like animal vaccines and crops. This doesn't seem right. I have a real bad feeling about this.
I'll accept the risk if getting COVID from now on.
I was never anti vaccines, btw. But there's been so much suspicious shit going on around this whole topic that my trust "in (capitalist) science" is in shambles. Just the appearance of "sudden adult death syndrome" right after the vaccinations started was highly suspicious and should've warranted at least a pause of the vaccinations. At the very least, I'll have to assume that it was more important for people to get back to work as quick as possible and to "return to normal" was a terrible driving force behind the way of this pandemic was handled.
I'm sure people will come at me for all of this. I'm not (alt) right, I'm not anti science, but I worry that the rushed rollout of these shots was a big mistake. That doesn't mean that the extreme anti vaxxers were right either.
Edit: Not to mention how my girlfriend's migraines have increased severely and that her Astrazeneca and Moderna batches are known for having headaches as a side effect according to VAERS.
To the first 2 downvotes: Thanks for proving my point.

Around 2010 there was this "pledge" where a website people basically collected a list of things they'd require in order to stop pirating tv shows and movies and I think it came down to:
Provide easy access to large library Provide multi language support, must offer original language Allow downloads/offline viewing Be reasonably priced
Plus some additional stuff I can't remember.
When Netflix got big, they basically covered it all. Then everyone wanted a piece of the pie.
Back to piracy then. 15$ for put.io ✨🙏

Not being forced to use Windows or having to hope that Ubuntu works, battery life, raw SoC performance, good keyboards (after they fixed the duds from 2016-2020), best trackpads in town, good quality apps, native Unix shell?
I was really looking into buying the Framework laptop but apart from that, everything seemed to be more or less crap (for my use cases) if you don't want to deal with Thinkpads.

Have you read any of it or did you just skim Wikipedia? I'm perfectly aware of people's biases and that he's likely to tend towards a pro-Russian spin. But after years of researching I can't deny that a lot of his claims aren't that unlikely.
I'm not here to convince you. OP asked, I answered.
From a Western perspective, you'll have a hard time reading fringe criticism of the West without someone chanting "bUt tHiS iS RuSSian prOpAganDa" from the sides. The immediate shift in reporting about Ukrainian politics in Western media was so blatantly obvious propaganda and yet you come at me with this.
We've all been fed propaganda since the 40s, from all sides, in every country, the media is either heavily centralized or state-controlled, no journalist covering socialist/anarchist topics is likely to dig deeper into this (hell, they're likely fighting for truth in smaller areas where they can actually move the needle, more power to them), we have almost no real journalists with reach and impact left, Assange has shown that investigative journalism is as good as dead, we're being fed Ministry of Truth crap as "fact checks" and we've all been programmed with our go-to responses for dissenting voices. I've had my share of normie "Anarchists" coming at me only to debunk their BS as centrist garbage dressed in nice patches, shirts and rhetorics.
Have you debated a historian at a university about Fomenko (and they actually read it!) and hit them with facts until they had to admit that a lot of our history was under strict control of very few influential people of shady untrustworthy organisations and that there's no irrefutable proof that certain documents, drawing and writings haven't been either been manipulated or may be outright forgeries and that there's a lot of trust involved in keeping it all together?
Just consider it a hobby interest of mine if it makes you sleep any better. If you read at least one of Fomenko's books, let's debate without resorting to boring "you're basically Putin's right hand" rhetoric.
Edit: To be clear, I'm not into genetics, I don't care who belongs to which race, I don't want to paddle to any nation state that their narrative about some race being superior is true. I can read scholars without having to adopt their entire world view.

This is my first time growing King Oyster mushrooms. They've been in the mostly damp cellar for about 2 weeks now, it's the best I can offer in terms of temperature/moisture/air quality. I gave them water every 3-4 days but I'm not sure if it's enough and I've just cut open the bag to give them more breathing space. Appreciate any feedback! :) ![](https://lemmy.ml/pictrs/image/05e9b065-d9f5-4b3a-a623-c803daa32d89.jpeg)
I hope this belongs here, since it's not a news article. I live in Europe and I've mostly been the guy people listened to when they admitted to not feeling well informed on international conflict situations like the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and US/NATO's more secretive and subversive conflicts/coups and backroom deals with autoritarian regimes around the world, all in the name of democracy and freedom. Can't help it, I'm curious, I like reading books and I think connecting the dots is rewarding for my ADHD. The NATO connections to post WWII-nazis, GLADIO and other stay-behind groups, the CIA ties - it was all thrilling and interesting, but unfortunately part of our reality. During the Wikileaks days even the people most critical of my assessments came and admitted that they were wrong and that they now understood they had been duped. And now, they said, "we know better". They all went back to reading the very news that consistently lied to them. There still was a semi-reliable left/left-centrist press in Europe that you could point the few normies allergic to "not verified by authority" reporting to, mostly written by a few journalists who didn't bend as much to pressure of falling in line with drumming for the democracy exporting business. What happened? Of course the big media companies always always bent to the will of the warmongering establishment but there were always some sane voices doing somewhat decent investigative journalism targetting the common narratives, even if just to be able to deflect criticism by pointing to their work. How did they get rid of almost every sane voice? Did the mostly senior editors just die off/retire? Today I am surrounded by people telling me obvious lies with a blind conviction of almost religious zealotry that can often be debunked with 2 minutes of research in spite of the downfall of major SEO and "24/7 breaking news repitition" infested search engines. I always knew that most people wouldn't spend the time on research to get an understanding of how this world functions and that Western democracy and liberty are basically strawmen that can be weaponized against anyone who stands in the way of Western interests. But I also always knew that I could rely on some people being receptive of well sourced information. My convincing of some people of course didn't put a dent anywhere but you at least felt like it was still possible to reach people and breakt through the programming. Even the people calling themselves antifascists are now ignoring the obvious neo Nazi-ties of Ukrainian Banderites while chanting OUN slogans. People are openly calling for censorship of the Internet in the name of "safety" and if you equate "fact checks" by the very people opposed to investigative journalism with the obvious risks of centralized Ministries of Truth being erected in front of our eyes, they vehemently disagree and demand that "freezepeach" must come to an end. I've never been this worried about the world I'm living in. The US and Western elites are hellbent on provoking a war with every nation that's no longer willing to bend to their unipolar world order, with Europeans taking the brute of it, whether it be economically or, should the war escalate, even on future frontlines. Is there any serious opposition left? How do you cope with the reality we're headed for? I've never been an optimist but I managed to keep my pessimism in check, until now.
Great Orthodox Black Metal from the US. One person project. Haven't heard of them before. Full album: https://youtu.be/EA_yzfrYKkE Bandcamp: https://darkestxiii.bandcamp.com/album/crystal-black-magick Even features a cover of an epic Ofermod song.
I've been working with Kubernetes since 2015 and I've mangled with handcrafted manifests including almost duplicate manifests for staging/production environments, played around with stuff like [Cue](https://cuelang.org/), built lots glue (mostly shell script) to automate manifest-handling and -generation and I also enjoy parts of Kustomize. When Helm started to appear it seemed like a terrible hack, especially since it came with the Tiller-dependency to handle Helm-managed state-changes inside of the clusters. And while they dropped Tiller (thankfully), I still haven't made my peace with Helm. Go-templating it awful to read, a lot of Helm charts don't really work out of the box, charts can be fed values that aren't shown via `helm show values ./chart`, debugging `HelmChart $namespace/$release-$chartname is not ready` involves going over multiple logs spread over different parts of the cluster and I could go on and on. And yet, almost every project that goes beyond offering `Dockerfile+docker-compose.yaml` just releases a Helm Chart for their app. Am I the only one who is annoyed by Helm? Have I been using it wrongly? Is there something I've been missing? In case you're a Helm maintainer: Please don't take it personally, my issue is not with the people behind Helm!

I first discovered Hermeticism while listening to Orthodox Black Metal and studying the lyrics peaked my interest. After consuming psychedelic mushrooms I noticed that I can no longer remain an atheist and a week later I submerged myself in the Corpus Hermeticum and I've been rereading it ever since, always discovering something new. Would love to know more about your paths!
