australia Australia Healthcare: How Long Do Patients Have To Wait?
Jump
  • th3dogcow th3dogcow 1 day ago 100%

They should include more countries for this to be a fair comparison.

Here in Japan you have to wait zero days to see the equivalent of a GP (a doctor of internal medicine is what would be considered the closest) unless it is a weekend or holiday. But even then, there are some clinics open on those days (they share the responsibility on a rotating basis).

You simply rock up and wait to be seen. Generally you won’t be waiting too long. Maybe 30 to 60 minutes. With pharmacies conveniently located next door, you’ll be in and out in no time when you’re feeling crook.

At least half the money is used for the guest’s experience (food, open bar and so on) including return gifts (as is the norm in Japan). This is generally a gift catalog which guests can choose an item from. It is surprisingly fun as it feels like you’re not the one spending more way. They have catalogs of different values to need individuals’ needs.

Close friends will often plan surprise acts to be performed during the wedding (singing or dancing and so on). So it is not entirely up to the host.

It is still customary to invite one’s boss and co-workers too. So yeah, it is culturally different from western countries I guess.

That’s true. If you just want to get married without a ceremony, you can do it for free here. It’s also common to get married on paper months before the actual party/ceremony which is great for getting name changes and other affairs in order before the actual wedding ceremony, which can reduce stress.

Meh it’s normal in Japan. Although rather than actually setting a price, it is just a cultural norm to gift money. ¥30,000 (about 200 USD right now) is the basic minimum, but it goes up based on relationship. If you plan and negotiate with venues well, you can end up paying nothing out of pocket.

Bicycles are frequently stolen here in Japan. I’ve experienced it myself.

The difference is that most bicycles are registered with the police and the police take theft seriously, so you’re likely to get it back.

Also, the majority of bicycles here have a dinky little lock attached to the frame over the rear wheel, so it is easy to lock in seconds.

Although the locks are not very strong, they decrease crimes of opportunity I would imagine. In fact the one time my bicycle was stolen it had been left unlocked.

Then you can copy and paste it to save it wherever you want. So in theory your idea is sound. But the official broadlink app won’t support revealing the codes.

The court does not have the power to overturn the current marriage law, which has been interpreted to restrict marriage as between a man and a woman. Government offices may continue to deny marriage status to same-sex couples unless the existing law is revised to include LGBTQ+ couples, or a new law is enacted that allows for other types of unions.

For the past two years I have been actively avoiding places which refuse to accept electronic pavement methods. It is just so much easier to manage finances (for me at least). I’ve even been in the situation where the only cashless payment which was accepted was SUICA, so I charged my SUICA at the register on my iPhone via credit card! Unfortunately, there are a few holdouts (looking at you local clinics etc). What do you do when you encounter an establishment which only accepts cash?

What food do you have in your emergency bag?

I just realised I didn’t restock my emergency bag with food so was wondering what you guys would put in? Previously, I put soy joy (wouldn’t recommend, as they were awful), granola bars, a jar of peanut butter (easy to eat, high in calories), and a bag of Kit Kats (gotta have something nice). Even if you don’t have an emergency bag, I would love to hear what ideas you have.

Rainy seasons - tips and tricks

Well the rainy season is here, so what tips or tricks do you have to endure it? Workman sells rubber “hiking” boots which are great as rain boots, but not so comfortable for those with big feet. Let’s try to be active and build this community, too!

    Anti perspiration deodorant https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/gp/aw/d/B08JG98J7W

I recently tried this deodorant and was very happy with the results. Unfortunately, with daily use, one stick only lasted a month. I’ve searched my local drug stores and haven’t been able to find the same brand. Has anyone seen this at a better price? Do you have a deodorant which you would recommend that can be easily bought here? (I know iHerb exists but I don’t want to order ¥6,000 just to get free shipping lol).
