I like this guide! However, I keep running into an Operation not permitted error when attempting to change the ownership to the plex.plex group. I've run into this a few times and cannot seem to get around it.
EDIT: Got it working, though still running into an operation not permitted error. Though, I unmounted and remounted the drives changing the uid to a new mount point. Plex is able to see the files now!
Now to start messing with docker...
EDIT 2: Short lived, changes revert after reboot and have to remount again with changes.

Thank you! I'll give this a try later tonight and report back!
Hello all, I've been reading this community from the outside for some time, and I finally decided to dip my toe into Linux a bit. I have an old PC I was using to run Plex through a Windows install, but this is now a Linux Mint Cinnamon machine. I have Plex Media Server installed and running, however I am having a hell of a time getting it to see my external drive where my media is located. Trying a bunch of research, it seems like it is a permissions issue that I cannot seem to shake. Plex is able to see the drive, though nothing in it. I've googled as much as I can, but none of the suggestions seem to help me. I've tried to run the command chown, though I get an operation not successful error in return. ls -la never shows the plex user or group listed, and I've tried for about 2 hours trying various things and have had no success. Additionally, the other two drives I have connected are stuck in read only as well. Anything I may have overlooked?

I don't use any of it, I don't really see a use case for it honestly. Feels like I'm missing out at times, but have no idea what I would even use it for.

Just reinforcing the do first, apologize later mentality. They'll get away with as much as they possibly can, then drop an "I'm sowwy" like a BP CEO in South Park.

I finished Rigged by David Shimer just before this one. I really like the style of delivery here where there is seemingly no bias. A lot of quotes in the one I am currently reading, with evidence based context around it. Kind of letting you draw your own conclusions.
I'm only two chapters in thus far, but I'm really enjoying it. I had to reach past Witch Hunt: The Story of the Greatest Mass Delusion in American Political History by Gregg Jarrett to get this one at the library, can only imagine the "facts" in that one.

AAA studios have taught me to be excited about nothing until after release. Even then, they can still take it away. I have a hard te believing this will be the labor of love this deserves, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

In the halls of my middle school, I felt like a ghost, invisible to everyone except the bullies who made my life a living hell. Every day, they taunted me, mocked my appearance, and tripped me in the hallway.
I tried to ignore them, but the constant harassment wore me down. One day, pushed to my limit, I finally snapped. When the ringleader, Jake, shoved me into a locker, I swung back, landing a punch square on Jake's nose.
The satisfaction of retaliation was fleeting as the principal's office became my next destination. Despite explaining my side, I was met with a stern lecture on violence and the consequences of my actions.
But in that moment of defiance, something shifted within me. I realized that standing up for myself didn't have to involve fists. It meant finding the courage to speak out, seeking help from trusted adults, and refusing to let the bullies define me.
That night my dad came into my room and savagely beat with a set of jumper cables for getting in trouble.

Definitely not me, my dad hates that after my brother did it.
It all began innocently enough. My family had gathered for a lazy Sunday brunch, seeking refuge from the relentless sun.
As the meal progressed, laughter and chatter filled the air. But amidst the joviality, a small ice cube managed to escape its glass prison, slipping onto the tiled floor with a barely audible tinkling sound.
At first, it went unnoticed. But as fate would have it, my younger brother , perhaps distracted by the excitement of the day, accidentally kicked the wayward ice cube under the refrigerator with a careless flick of the foot.
Initially, there was no reaction. But as the meal continued and the ice cube remained forgotten beneath the appliance, a subtle change began to take hold. The father, ever observant, caught sight of the ice cube's icy trail and the faint click as it disappeared beneath the fridge.
At first, he said nothing, choosing instead to watch quietly as the ice cube remained trapped in its chilly exile. But with each passing minute, a sense of unease began to gnaw at him. The simple act of neglect, the disregard for tidiness and order, slowly chipped away at his patience.
Finally, unable to contain his growing frustration, my father's voice broke through the cheerful din. "Did you just kick that ice cube under the fridge?" he asked, his tone deceptively calm.
He then left the room, but quickly came back and beat my brother senseless with a set of jumper cables.

Admittedly, the measures in place did not seem to work as intended. The light should have gone red before the truck had a chance to enter the intersection, and the sign should alert the driver that their truck is too large to go under the bridge. However, that doesn't stop everyone: https://youtu.be/-VokezIMLKE

I recently purchased a 32:9 monitor, and quickly realized I need a program to help snap windows to different positions, other than the default options Windows 11 provides. Is there anything recommended I can use for this? I'd like to be able to hold a keybind and snap the windows around with arrow keys if possible. Thanks!
I found this channel on YouTube a few days ago, I've been listening to his mixes of these albums since. They mostly seem to be metal albums, and in a Q&A mentioned he tries to pull albums to mix from comments.
This has always been some of my favorite content. From police chases, to car crashes, to Grandma not paying attention while going over her receipt to make sure the cashier used her coupon this time because she swears that he didn't last time while exiting the Piggly Wiggly parking lot.
