It's very annoying how people add so much heated emotion into what are casual statements when they can't hear the tone of voice. It doesn't bother me enough to warrant a diatribe like I just received. And I obviously wasn't going to read the life story that preempts the actual recipe like is on every awful recipe site.

I did miss the recipe when I looked at the post initially, sounds pretty interesting. And I'm not trying to set some mandate of what food is allowed, I just think it's a bit played out for so many vegan recipes to be trying to approximate the non-vegan version, because it's always a poor imitation. I would rather have a tasty dish that can stand on its own without inviting the comparison, and maybe even attract people to it who wouldn't normally seek vegan.

I don't have a problem with subbing in the carrot, but like you said, it doesn't taste like a hot dog, so don't treat it like a hot dog. Give it some special sauce/topping or marinate the carrot, make it its own experience.

I don't see how this is money laundering or wire fraud. I hope he gets off. Or the real best solution would to make it so the revenue just goes to the artists the AI is ripping off.

The police are typically just there to point guns, so I'd only call if I thought a gun was useful, which is extremely rare.

I was expecting this to be a story of an issue, but this is actually really encouraging for what single payer could look like. The time scale isn't great, but it's pretty comparable to what I've experienced and heard about from friends here in the "efficient" private US system.

It's tough to passively live in an absurdist mentality. Especially with the heavy indoctrination into the abrahamic value structure embedded in most world cultures. It's something to keep reminding yourself of. That being said, you're allowed to give yourself a purpose that means something to you. It doesn't have to just be "everything is meaningless", it can instead be "everything is meaningless so I might as well make it better."

To say the same thing a different way. Nihilism says "nothing matters so why do anything", which is a very easy passive emotion to sink into. Absurdism says "nothing matters so why not do everything", which requires actively choosing to do something. The latter option sounds a bit more fun to me, even if it takes a little effort.

I may be a bit too optimistic, but it would be amazing if this was the election that broke the republican party.

People have already correctly answered that in this community there are no stupid questions, you're supposed to be able to ask anything without ridicule. But if you want to permit the general existence of stupid questions, here's the definition I've always used.

A stupid question is one you can easily answer yourself.

As in, any question due to real lack of knowledge is not stupid, but if you can answer your own question just by thinking about it for a second, then it wasn't necessary to ask and therefore "stupid”.

"To fry" means to cook in oil or fat. A distinction we can make is "deep fry" like the chicken, and "pan fry" for the other 2. We don't use woks as much here so really the only difference between fried rice and a fried egg is whether you stir it or flip it, but both are still cooked in a pan with oil.

Yeah that's why I'm saying to vote down ballot. That will push back against the current trend more than either option for president.

The actions the democratic party has taken in the past few decades seem to be legitimizing the radicalization of the republican party that is inching the US towards a fascist state. You may be able to argue that's not their intention, but that doesn't change the results they're achieving. Whether they keep the ratchet locked with desire or ineptitude doesn't substantially change my argument.

Well the democrats seem to be either too weak or unwilling to release the lock on said ratchet, so take your pick. Either way we should still be trying to elect better people to the offices where we can actually make a difference.

Revolutions aren't successful unless they have some ties to those in power. So we need some comrades in office before making plans like that.

If low voter turnout is a problem, and they don’t want to vote for arguably the important role, why would they bother going out and queuing at all?

I'm arguing it's not the most important role and trying to get people to go vote even if they skip the president part of their ballot.

That was pretty weird. You're also misrepresenting my argument. As far as my motivations for posting, they are 1, get people to vote even if it's not for president and 2, steer more conversation towards local politicians.

If we keep focusing solely on the president we'll never get better options.
