The tax free overtime could be worth something if time and a half starts around 30 hours or something. Extra cash untaxed without sacrifice to personal time. Might be too progressive tho.

The thing is that having 10x the casualties tends to create more fighters.
Until it doesn't. Case in point is that large empires exist. Greece has the 300 story, yet were part of Rome and The Ottomans. China has Tibet. US has native lands. I get your point but freedom fighters depend on sponsorship (Haiti bring an exception) and they do exhaust. Still my point is that super powers can be defeated, its just at a very high cost.

The issue is about endurance. Are you okay with losing the majority of battles and having x10 the casualties? Not to mention all the left over bombs and chemicals causing deformations long after. A philosopher once said everyone has a plan until you get punched in the face.

Fair enough.
I have no idea what PATH is or why I want to do that, but I can do it
Its really only for non standard installs. That is outside of the package manager or flatpak. PATH
is just where the computer will look for executables. Since you installed from source or some other side then it won't be in the normal /bin
. You're just updating your PATH
to include other places.

Just one more reason why we should be keeping companies from collecting our data and looking like anyone else to them. Typically it is argued that data is subsidizing something, but here it is directly increasing your costs.
Hey Lemmy! I bought a new 2015 street 750 and I have ridden it all these years. Recently I have been thinking that I want to switch it up and get something else. I mostly use my street 750 to commute to university, but now work; with an occasional day trip to visit family on the other side of Texas. I am thinking of getting a Yamaha MT-03. I know it is an entry level bike but it seems to have good reviews. It has a passenger seat for dates and a sixth gear for the occasional road trip. Since I am mostly commuting I don't see why 300cc will be too small, so I should save some money with it. I mostly want to ask if there is a reason I should consider the 600cc version or something I also really like the XSR700 but feel it might be hard to find around me. Any other advice?
Just a small way to help people get their FOSS. What are some other projects that have torrents that would be good to seed?
How does Linux it self or some other software on Linux address what Crowd Strike is doing for Windows? E: thanks for the answers :)
I'm thinking I want to dock the deck to my TV and game some FPS that way. What remote would be good?
Does anyone here use LXD/Incus? What do you do if you want to find the IP address of an instance, but `incus list` does not give you one? I am not sure what would be stopping one from being issued since that is how I have found that information before. I am just a student trying to learn about them and do stuff. I often just find the IP of the container and then `ssh` in as that feels natural, but perhaps I am cutting against the grain here.
What headphone with microphone hardware do you have? I am looking to buy some soon and was wondering what the community uses. Do you prefer wired? I feel that it is kind of rare to find wired stuff these days, but Bluetooth has really matured in battery and reliability.
So I tested my mic inside Discord and it does show that the mic is being picked up. Has anyone had the issue where that does not translate over to online games? https://lemmy.world/post/16966492
Nothing fancy, just the raw essential on a rushed morning.
I have recently been trying to play Halo Wars and Helldivers 2 online. Naturally I wanted to be able to talk with my teammates, but the microphone does not seem to work. I have gone into the settings and switched between the available options, but I cannot chat with others. What can I do to debug?
The video is not real, but very cool editing.

So I was thinking about some othere thread talking about climate change here. Reminded me that when I was a kid the RGV was a pretty big river. I don't see it often as I don't cross the border often, but it seems like its been dry or very weak for several years now. Has there been any discussion about this anywhere?
Hey all! (I did post this in c/flatpak, but this community is more active. I am not sure where would be more appropriate) Something that I have been wanting to get working is having my browser and password manager both in flatpak. I really like being sandbox and having faster updates if the distro is on the slower side perhaps. I have a set up with Firefox as a deb and keepassxc as a flat and that works find as one would expect. I did want to install Vivaldi as a flatpak and was not able to get it to talk with keepass. In my reading I found this: [installing KeePassXC natively, which you’d actually want for security reasons](https://discourse.flathub.org/t/how-to-run-firefox-and-keepassxc-in-a-flatpak-and-get-the-keepassxc-browser-add-on-to-work/437/2). > installing KeePassXC natively, which you’d actually want for security reasons What is mean by that line of reasoning?

I am someone who lives in a very flat area, not a single hill. Suppose I was taking a road trip and had to go up and down some mountains, what tips should I consider to be safe? How do I avoid ruining my clutch or my breaks?
So I went to a hospital the other day and was told I have a de-deductible of $3,000. I am not sure how much my insurance paid (if anything). At some point I have to talk to the hospital about payment and I want to talk them down to accept a lower amount. I do have some savings to offer, but I would like to get them to agree to take that amount and write off the rest rather than just admit I have that safety net and still have payments. If it helps the discussion my insurance is supposed to be "managed". Which means that I call them and they then tell me where I can go and not have to pay anything out of pocket. It just happened that I had been having some pretty bad stomach issues I was hoping would go away. I then realized I had spend just under 2 days like this, but it was memorial day so their number was closed and any small clinic, so I went to the ER worried my appendix was bursting or something serious was happening to me.
Hey All I am running Firefox on pop!_OS and have an extension that switches my themes between light and dark. It works really well and have set all my apps to follow system theme. I am running Firefox and it does switch well and my Lemmy setting is set to follow the browser. It was working well for a long time, but the last two months I have noticed that lemmy does not auto switch the theme. Is there something I can do on my end?
I didn't know my city was cool enough to put signal flyers.
The clutch on my bike has been feeling rather tight. I did some searches for mechanic tutorials and found one that suggested loosening a nut near the handle bars. That did work for a bit but seems to tighten up after a while. Can someone help me with some keywords to help my search for tutorials and better diagnose issues?
I got into Civilization rather late with their fifth entry. I was hesitant because as I get older I need more time to game than I do new titles. Still I picked up six with all DLC during the last sale. I have to say I am liking the changes. It was good to wait because Civ does need its DLCs to feel complete. On a side note, it runs quite nice on the Steam Deck (In desktop mode docked)
I am someone who has been trying to pivot into having a tech job. I have used LaTex before as a student and there is a job I am trying to take that uses Jaspersoft to make reports. Is jasper similar to LaTeX? Are there resources you found particularly helpful? I am currently still looking to get my install, hello world, and combing their site.
Hey All, I am just getting started in my journey. Part of my goals is to de-google my life and am looking to start with my calendar. I want to to sync with my laptop and my phone. I was going to start reading about nextcould because it seems like it would have the stuff I need and more. My question is what does the community use, so that I can read and research about it. No technical questions yet. --- Edit: Not sure why I cannot see the replies when signed in (visible when logged out). Will be checking out your suggestions. Thanks Self Hosted community!
