- Not everyone has the budget to openly spend 20K plus on a new vehicle, which means lower demand
- Since not everyone will just buy a new car, companies need to make as much money per unit sold which means luxury cars make more sense These points together should make sense. They are marketing to people that have a lot of disposable income. If they have a lot of disposable income, they probably want a luxurious car. People with 200k+ annual salaries want to keep up with the Johnses so a 20k EV car they can easily afford doesn't look as cool compared to their neighbor's 80k+ car. So they want a 80k+ car with all the bells and whistles.
The reason we stop China is not related to supply and demand so much as stopping companies that China has given unfair advantages to. If BYD was making cars without signifcant Chinese subsidies, then yes I would be bothered by these tariffs as well.

I mean the tech is still new as well as the point that SSJMarx mentioned. To add to the list of reasons to make expensive version of cars first:
- New tech is more expensive usually
- Not everyone has the budget to openly spend 20K plus on a new vehicle, which means lower demand
- Since not everyone will just buy a new car, companies need to make as much money per unit sold which means luxury cars make more sense
- additionally lowering demand is the fact that not everyone wants an EV or feels comfortable driving them (due to its different fueling method)
I do expect that over time manufactures will begin to release cheaper EVs over time that are aimed for average consumers.

The main issue is that China seems to subsidize BYD quite a bit more than other countries do. In addition, this seems to match China's general policy of finding ways to give its own companies advantages in foreign markets, while limiting the equivalent from other countries
Habahnow 1 day ago • 100%
You're correct, but what I was, not clearly, talking about is increasing the incentives so its easier for people to purchase electric vehicles. You do bring up a good point that fossil fuel subsidies should also be reduced to better reflect its true costs.
Habahnow 1 day ago • 100%
My understanding is that the subsidize are to also encourage american manufacturing which those companies you listed satisfy. These subsidies are incentives for manufacturers rather than buyers, as it encourages these companies to change their manufacturing process which would lead to reduced costs.
Habahnow 1 day ago • 91%
What would be the alternative? China is no releasing numbers to how much they subsidize BYD, I doubt BYD would want to be that transparent either.
From my point of view the US could either wait, try to study and figure out the puzzle for how much China subsidizes BYD in order to come up with a good tariff amount, all while China still accomplishes its goals, or they can put tariffs now and make adjustments later. For all we know, 100% tariff may be too low, we don't know for certain.
Let me know if there's a better plan that's being talked about.

Because China is not fairly competing with other countries. They are subsidizing BYD manufacturing and supply chain with the goal of making BYD the largest electric car company in the world. Yes, their vehicles would probably still be cheaper than other manufactures even before subsidies (Lower cost of living in china, ignoring of fair wages, ignoring of environmental concerns all reduce costs), but they are unfairly trying to make the world reliant on their products.
That being said, i do agree with your sentiments that we should be making it easier to purchase electric cars. Providing additional discounts or high turn in credit for returning your current gas car would be appreciated so that we can actually make progress on reducing global warming.
Habahnow 1 day ago • 81%
??? China has literally been subsidizing BYD to help it to beat out foreign manufactures and to make it competitive in foreign markets. So yeah, there may be some protectionism involved, but there is definitely an argument that China is unfairly subsidizing BYD, making it impossible for rival companies to compete.

I'm doing interviews for companies that would involve API integrations. I've done a couple now where I was given some general API information (some intentionally unclear, some more clear) and I felt I didn't do well. Mainly I was nervous, and felt very pressured just to understand how the different parts of the APIs interact with each other and should be interacted with. This is despite doing this for work and myself not feeling as nervous doing more common coding tests which I don't do as much at work(thanks to doing examples on hackerrank, Leetcode helping me feel more comfortable). So what are the resources I should leverage to practice API integrations? How should I go about practicing? Especially considering that I do need to perform in a certain way during interviews.

Kamala posted sections of the full video, of course showing the bad comments from Vance. Trump posted only once section, but says watch the full video, while claiming all Kamala and her team do is lie. I'm actually trying to find the full speech and can't. Pretty annoying since you know Trumpers will say Kamala is lying

Having a unique issue where steam is not logging in for me. Its stuck on the logging pop up and stays like that. Is anybody else having this issue? I'm on Ubuntu, it was just working about 10 hours ago. I made and reverted a change thinking that's what caused it but that doesn't seem to be the case. I had to run steam through terminal using the command: steam -tcp and got it to work.

Interesting. I think I would agree with you that going straight to a university is more expensive, than doing a CC first. It may add additional time to your schooling, but I think its worth it, depending on the costs for the university. I think I would still say even if going through the majors you mentioned, a CC is a better way to go as well unless you have a lot of money, whether from family, or grants, or scholarships.

Social events like bars and raves are an option. You'll find people who just want to get shit faced, but also social people. Volunteer work has a lot of people you can interact with and eventually become friends with. Game places are another option as mentioned. Video games as well. If you have a dog, parks are a way to start conversations and meet people.

Budgeting is very important. some people like the 20% of income for saving, 30% for living expenses and the other 50% for everything else. Pre or post tax is up to you as this is a rule of thumb. Important part is that it should be easy for you to build up your savings to cover important expenses. spending 50% of income on housing may be really bad since having back to back years of badluck can screw over your savings, and not give you enough time to save up in between.
This is a general rule that applies when you make enough to do so. If you're struggling to pay rent, do what you can to remove risk and cut down on costs. One thing that helps is aiming to have savings. Often times, its cheaper to have money up front to resolve emergencies rather than later.
Car is one of those things that can make sense to remove. If you're commuting one hour already by car, and there's no public transit option then a car is a necessity. If you can take public transit, that could save you money on car insurance, car payments, car maintenance, and possible accidents.

I suppose it really depends on needs. I don't know whether people would really be needing to ride 150 miles in a single charge. You're correct about myself not riding motorcycles, which is why I asked. by carrying dead weight I meant having to deal with the bulkiness and lack of flexibility with motorcycles. You don't usually carry around a motorcycle nor an ebike, but being able to take it into buildings with you to hide it would be some nice flexibility. Ebikes aren't lightweight either, but compared to a emoto they are.
Habahnow 4 weeks ago • 100%
Drive less would best the recommendation. Though I feel this doesn't directly help yourself so much as everyone.
Habahnow 4 weeks ago • 100%
why an e motorcycle over an electric bike? I feel the disadvantages are worse: its heavier, larger and requires more time to fully charge. Sure its faster, can probably get your further, and can carry heavier things, but every time you're not using those aspects, the disadvantages are more pronounced. Can't fully charge the battery due to slow charging with whatever you can muster up? will now you're just carrying dead weight.
Will there be nice roads that you know are safe for you to drive fast on? Maybe, again you may be carrying deadweight otherwise.
If you're not using it to carry large/heavy items, again you're riding around in dead weight.

My understanding is that it stems from various combinations of plastic trash, contaminating our ecosystem. So a plastic lined container (nearly any disposable container) is bad because it will contain microplastics in its conents, and also, as it degrades in the trash, will release more microplastics.

Yes. We've had a history of being car centric, but in the last 20 years we've been pushing public transit a lot more. I think we have one of the largest light rail systems in the world actually. I believe a Texas city is now on top for most car centric
I was a bit pessimistic about this being possible, but to see that we did this in the 1984 Olympics without any light rail is pretty amazing to hear.

I literally can't find anything. I have no idea where to look. On the dota client, I can only find stream from as recently as... TI3. I can't see any other competitions showing up. I don't see anything on youtube either that ALSO is a full match. NoobfromUA has matches, but they jump around. So my question is, where do I find streams with commentary? The reason is because ideally they'll go into the reason players are making certain decisions.

For a while now, I've been unable to actually view the Volaris website while using Ubuntu 22.04 (In a previous version I believe as well). I've tried Brave, Firefox, and Chrome with the same results so I don't believe its browser specific (as most people use one of those 3 web browsers), which leads me to believe its Linux specific (as I doubt Volaris' website has been broken like this for over 2 years now). The website seems to load some background images, but then it stops loading. I'm basically unable to interact with the website in any way. Sometimes I'll get a captcha to even access the website. The workaround that I have found was actually going into the inspector and refreshing. This make the website function again while the inspector is open. Any ideas or suggestions?
I’m glad this was passed. Only worry I have is that the the corporations will have the money to take a hit in California. Keep the amount of money they siphon from CA high, translating to higher costs to the CA businesses and, despite the fact that more of their businesses will struggle, use that as evidence that this law should be repealed.

Article is very interesting and talks about the mix of goals in regards to the protests, and how speech negatively and positively helps accomplish those goals.
A bigger “tax break” (in the form of allowing these businesses to actually deduct expenses like other legitimate businesses) for these dispensaries should mean cheaper products, less struggling businesses and also less black market marijuana.

I feel like hidden rooms aren't very transparently shown in the game. Currently there are usually 2-3 hidden rooms in each area, with an additional hidden room for every floor that has "many secrets". This is all totally fine, except that its sort of hard to identify them, even as someone that's rather familiar with what they are. By identify, I don't mean to search for them, but to actually identify whether a room is a hidden room or not. My suggestion would be that all hidden rooms share some kind of identifier. some suggestions would be: - uniquely colored door that, even if burned, has a different color so you'll always know that was an entrance to a hidden room - Uniquely colored flooring - Uniquely colored walls - Indications in the logs when you step into an area or floor ("you have found 1 of 2 or 3 hidden rooms in this area" "There is one discovered hidden room on this floor") Hidden rooms can affect your rankings score so allows for easier ways to track that would be welcomed. What are your opinions?

I just recently got into using a bike for commuting and I was wondering if this is a good way to secure my bike? I know, previously, people would recommend only needing to lock the back tire to a solid object, but I’ve seen videos of people easily cutting the back tire, breaking it and taking the frame/front tire. My method of locking is sort of similar, except I do lock around the splash guard. If this isn’t very secure, I’d have to get a longer ulock or chain, because there doesn’t appear to be an easy way for me to lock around the back tire, frame and solid object with my current ulock. Any suggestions are appreciated.
