I'm admittedly not from this community but I'd make the argument that you may as well switch to this now because your community will suffer either now or in the future when reddit needs to show more revenue growth. We have an internationally owned power company (I think Saudis and Spain or something?) and we are trying to replace them with a community owned project. What phone are you using? Both apple and Samsung have made their devices borderline impossible to swap the battery out. They will then charge you an arm and a leg for sometime that used to be an easy swap.

I honestly picked this one purely because it was performant on the day I switched from Reddit. Thankfully I've ended out really liking the direction it's going in too. I wouldn't be too worried about picking the right instance, just look for one you generally agree with the moderation and pick it. You can always switch to another one or have multiple accounts.

Yeah, right now I've got a s23 ultra and I really like it. There is too much of an advantage to the mainstream phones in camera and extra features for me to make that jump yet. I had a OnePlus with lineage before but I can't pretend I haven't enjoyed the Samsung so far. As for my Lenovo X1 Carbon I'd replace it in a second, it's still doing pretty well right now but it's absolutely not repairable and starting to show its age a bit. I've also just been lucky to not need to repair anything.

When I first read about the defederation I had a knee jerk angry response but after thinking about it I really feel like it makes sense for them. They want to have a heavily moderated space and it's hard to do that when you integrate with the other communities. It seems to me they have a level head and are approaching this carefully. I hope that they end out being in the minority but I can understand having a few relatively solitary groups with a focused goal.
