From what I’ve heard, at least. I know there’s unfortunately quite a lot of loli stuff based on the defederation lists I’ve seen. I’m happy to report that I’ve never had to see either here first-hand.
I’m considering migrating away from Lemmy.world on account of downtime and the recent blocking of piracy communities. However, I am quite fond of Lemmy.world’s other choices in defederation, e.g. nazi nonsense and CSAM. Is there an easy method of comparing these blockings between instances to better choose where to migrate to?

True and fair. Definitely agree with your third-party app thing (man, where have I seen the benefits of having third party apps before?)
I do remember trying out a (TOS breaking) third party app I found on GitHub, but it lacked a lot of features like voice calls and whatnot and crashed frequently. That’s to be expected, though.

It sounds more like Lemmy was a bad idea for you specifically, lol
Sounds like the hardcore nerds are thriving.

Discord moment
“Hmm, we need to make a communications app. Communicating is important, it’ll keep millions of people in contact with eachother. We’ll have to make it as lightweight as possible.”
“OH! I KNOW! ELECTRON!!”

Can’t wait for someone to run an instance on a homebrewed DS and see people asking why “lemmy.ds is down all the time??”

Try breaking both of your arms, I’ve heard that works.

You can actually still play DS games with proper scaling on 3DS-like systems by holding start and select while the game is booting up. Helps a lot, as I don’t like the upscaling at all.

I remember Apollo had a similar feature added when a user complained about how a long username would screw with the buttons. It just changed the bottom text to say “Account” when a setting was toggled.

Worked for me too, thanks!

Good question! We get asked this a lot. Hope this helps!

Gotcha. I’ll carve off the edges of my steak, freeze dry those, and use meat glue to reattach them to the main, non-dried steak after.

Understood: I will freeze dry all meat before cooking it to remove all moisture.
I had problems with saving images among other things on iOS 15 and updating fixed my issues. I know some people can’t due to a desire to jailbreak and whatnot, but I felt like making this more known.

I believe the Dev said it isn’t an acronym, it’s just where he found his hands placed on his keyboard one day, the WEF keys.
I did ask GPT-4 to make an acronym for it anyways, and got:
W- Web
E- Enhanced
F- Fediverse
W- Webapp
E- Explorer
F- Framework

I started with the official app for the longest time, but then it just got worse and worse.
Constant A/B tests, godawful changes, the video player, etc.. There was a subreddit made to complain submit bug reports and discuss the app, r/redditmobile. At first, the devs were quite receptive with the community, even apologizing for removing a swipe gesture that they thought no one used and re-introducing it, but eventually they just stopped caring. Cries from users went unheard, and the app just felt worse and worse to use.
I kept hearing people say “I’m moving to Apollo” in the comments, which caused me to look in to whatever an “Apollo” is. Boy, was I glad I did.
A consistent UI, changes and additions that were commonly disabled by default when added, and zero ads. It was exactly what I wanted.
Aaaand then Reddit killed it.
At least wefwef is helping me stay in denial here on lemmy.

I did let it thaw a bit first. I was in the same boat as you for a bit. Felt like I was eating a bread-flavored popsicle.

I’ll test the “no-shaming” rule a bit here by admitting some sins:
-
Once, I got a normal oven cheese pizza and added a different sauce per quadrant. Keep in mind, this is on a pizza that already has frozen pizza sauce. IIIRC, the quadrants were BBQ sauce, Alfredo, Buffalo, and a fourth which I’ve forgotten. I ate the whole thing without a complaint.
-
A month or so ago, I was hungry in the middle of the night and wanted to eat a pizza. Unfortunately, the oven in our house is next to a room with people sleeping, so I couldn’t use it. Instead, I ate the frozen pizza unthawed like a goblin in my bed. Didn’t finish it, and regretted the experience after.
Keeping the Apollo style (in a webapp, which is impressive) definitely helps the transition to Lemmy feel more natural. Seeing new features almost daily is amazing, too. I can’t wait to see what this becomes!
