The new colors look amazing! I'm certainly tempted, but I already have a black version so I will probably hold off.

I played this a while back and really enjoyed it. The story is heart warming, but the art style is the real star of the show. The watercolor styled environment is beautiful to explore. Would recommend!

I initially thought Sam was a fool for taking the hint on the puzzle box, but after I saw the solution...I don't think I would have figured that out either.
Go Team Ben!

They look really good, but I couldn't stomach the price tag. Congrats on the pickup!

Wow, brave! The display on my batch 2 Playdate has started to develop an issue where certain pixels are displaying in a black line. It still plays for now, but I'm saving up my dollars to get it repaired/replaced since it's unfortunately outside the warranty period now.

I didn't realize Vapor Brothers was still around, these are old school.
While I don't think I would actively recommend people over to something like VB today, it is cool that an original innovator in the vape space is still operating today.

I've been following this and am intrigued, but the combo of the high price, crowdfunding, and lack of even a functioning prototype to show off has me skeptical enough to not throw down money in advance for one.
If it actually comes out and they don't go bankrupt during the design/manufacturing process, and if the phone is actually good, then I'd definitely consider buying one. I like the concept a lot.

Very nice! What case is that?
I personally use a small pocket sized pouch from Skunk bags to carry my FW7 and a few other small accessories when I need to.

Was the first vape I had ever heard of/tried. Followed closely by the original Pax.
How far we've come.

My favorite desktop is definitely the Herborizer. I love the design of it, and love the hits that it produces. I have other vapes that are technically "more powerful", but for some reason the Herborizer just does it for me.
Portable wise, my favorite would be a close tie between the Tetra P80 and Morwood Toad. The P80 is the stronger performer between the two, but something about the Toad is so pleasant and enjoyable to use.

I picked up a lot of games on the sale, so here are some thoughts on a few:
Mars After Midnight: I'm still early on in this, but this is already one of my favorite games I've played on Playdate. The art is fun, music is catchy, and the gameplay is fun. At $6 this is a must-buy for any Playdate owner IMO, up there with Bloom.
Bloom: By far my favorite game on Playdate. This is a fantastic game from both a story and gameplay perspective. I've played it start to finish twice, and likely will play a third time as well.
Taxi Trouble: This is a fun high score style game. If you ever played Crazy Taxi or Road Rage, this is essentially a top-down take on that concept.
Steam'd Roller: I thought I'd really enjoy this from the catalog page, but it's only okay. The gameplay is very basic, and there isn't much challenge here for a high score based game. The first time I played I got a score of over 300 before I just gave up and let the timer run out, out of boredom.
Greed: This is a basic dice game, but endlessly replayable. I like that this lets you play against both a computer, or to pass the Playdate back and forth with a partner.
I bought a few others that I haven't gotten to spend much time with yet, but I'll post those thoughts here later!

Mutazione & Saltsea Chronicles are two favorites of mine, from the same developer, which don't seem to get much attention.
They're both narrative focused games, with a lot of world building and character development.
I enjoyed both of them greatly, and if you like chill story based games, I think you'd enjoy them!

Maybe I haven't spent enough time searching out accounts to follow, but I've found Pixelfed to be a bit lacking compared to Lemmy.
Lemmy successfully replaced Reddit for me. But Pixelfed is just too barren for me to be able to ditch Instagram.

It's an esoteric device for sure. I've really enjoyed the titles that the console ships with, and it actually has some relatively big names who have developed games for it. Crankin's Time Adventure was developed by the makers of Katamari Damacy. The upcoming Playdate game "Mars After Midnight" is being developed by Lucas Pope, of "Papers, Please" and "Return of the Obra Dinn".
The lo-fi aspect is part of the appeal, but obviously not for everyone. That being said, Panic has struggled to keep up with the overwhelming demand, and itch.io is filled with thousands of titles developed for the Playdate, and it has a very active online community surrounding the device (outside of Lemmy).

It's certainly an esoteric product. I bought mine before the price increase (when they were I believe $170), and I've been quite pleased with it. It's fun, has creatively made games on it, and makes for a perfect waiting room time-killing device. But it certainly isn't for everyone at its price point. The build quality is very nice though, as you'd expect from something designed by Teenage Engineering.
Panic has announced that the Playdate is now shipping as soon as orders come in! If you've been on the fence about getting a Playdate due to the long waiting times, now is your chance!
Panic is putting out a showcase of upcoming games on February 28th at 12pm ET. The most noteworthy title being shown off will be "Mars After Midnight" by Papers Please developer Lucas Pope.
Hide & seek across Switzerland. Season premiers February 28th on Nebula.

I'm an American who visited Cuba (legally) a few years back. I paid for goods and was allowed to bring things back into the US. There were just monetary limits for goods on what you were allowed to bring back in. I believe products like rum, cigars, and coffee were limited to $100-200, but I wasn't asked to show any receipts or anything.

Regular watch.
I find myself bombarded by notifications all day anyways, I don't also want my wrist buzzing along with my pocket. Since I work from home, I have my phone out on my desk most of the time anyways, smartwatch doesn't really add any value for me as I don't care about the fitness data.
I'm also a watch enthusiast, so smartwatches don't scratch that same itch as a traditional watch.

In all likelihood, there was never an "investigation". It felt like something they said to try to calm some of the anger towards them. I doubt we ever hear any updates on this from LTT.

Adding a good tip in the app is a good way to ensure your order will actually get accepted and picked up quickly. Many drivers decide to take an order based upon the payout they see listed in the app.

Not even a question for me, absolutely teleportation.
I wouldn't need to own a car, never need to pay for plane tickets or any sort of transportation.
I can go anywhere at any time. Live anywhere and then just blink where I want/need to be.
Invisibility doesn't provide nearly the same practical applications. The only useful thing I can think of for invisibility would be to hide inside a bank vault and steal money, but that could technically be achieved via teleportation too.

I'll have to give this another look. I tried the play test for Chasing the Unseen when it was first made available, but it was really rough at the time and borderline unplayable for me. But I like the concept a lot and enjoyed Jusant.

If you're a tinkerer, I could see you really enjoying the process of modding your own GBA to be exactly how you want it, and there's a cool factor that comes with doing it yourself.
The Pocket does have a few other benefits being that you can play cartridges from other handhelds like the Game Gear, and even weird stuff like the Turbographx. So the Pocket offers some additional flexibility with its FPGA cores for all those other systems.

If you have a Switch and a TV, I'd recommend trying out Ring Fit!
That game has been my primary fitness source since 2020. It makes the exercises very approachable, and also engaging. You really don't need any prior exercise experience to hop in and play it, and it'll help ensure you get a well rounded workout in.

Ah yes, who can forget all the famous scenes in action movies where the "good guy" shoots 50 "human shield civilians" while attempting to get the "bad guy".
Zionism is cancer.
I just downloaded this onto my Playdate last night, and ended up playing a good dozen rounds before bed. This is a simple but fun high-score game. 60 seconds on the clock, do your best to use the crank to open the tap & poor these thirsty bears a mug of root beer to their exact fill line requirement. The better your pour, the more money you earn! Give it a try and let me know your top score! I'm currently at $72.

Hey all, hoping some more experienced Proton users might be able to help me out here. Earlier this week I began the process of switching from Gmail to Proton. I imported the last few months of Gmail messages, set Gmail to forward to Proton for the interim before I can get all my other accounts switched away from that Gmail, and installed the Android proton mail app. I'm having the following issues: - Proton mail, regardless of if I'm in browser or mobile app, keeps reappearing emails that I delete or mark as spam. I'll delete them, then check my inbox again later and there they are again, unread in my inbox. It'll take 6 or 7 attempts sometimes before an email actually stays deleted. -the Android app is sucking crazy amounts of battery. It's not like I receive an insane amount of daily messages, but yesterday Proton mail sucked 40% of my battery. That's from mostly idle use and deleting a handful of emails. That's it. It seems to be pulling an insane amount of juice in the background. Anyone know how I can resolve these problems? I want to use proton for their focus on privacy and encryption, but both these issues are deal breakers for me if I can't resolve them. Thanks in advance!
This is probably the rarest vape I own, a Gen 2 black limba JDV. From posts in their discord, it looks like REFC will be bringing back the JDV soon with some improvements!
I've got some guava gelato queued up & ready to go. Been using the Vapbong the last few days but I think tonight I'll break out the Herborizer. What's on deck tonight frients?
One of my more recent acquisitions and an absolute powerhouse, the BAKx! This was dreamed up by choo at Lamart, and despite its simple design, it's a very strong performer.
Post your reviews & thoughts on games currently available for purchase in the catalog.
What are your favorites from season 1 and why? For me, I absolutely loved Pick Pack Pup, Casual Birder, Demon Quest 85, Sasquatchers, and Forrest Byrnes.
The first "good" portable I purchased. Prior to this, I was using a Pax 2, and found myself dissatisfied. I began looking into alternatives, and fell hard down the rabbit hole of artisan vapes. Snagged this merbau P80 in the next Lamart drop, and it's been a steady part of the stable ever since! One of, if not my most used portables.
This one has been with me for a good while, the first desktop I ever purchased. I'd been interested in a log for a little while and wanted to add a desktop to my arsenal. Ed posted that he had a few 2019's left as he was transitioning to the 2020 shape, and this was one of them. I knew I wanted it immediately and the discount he offered to clear out his shelves didn't hurt either! This is one that I still use frequently, and often catch myself just staring at how beautiful the burl is, and the hint of live edge.
I was fortunate to get pulled in the drawing for this unit a couple years ago, and received it last summer! I've been on the nomad list for a while, and had been really wanting to check out something from Dan. The Toad is a minimal, beautiful design that really shines in the finer details. All the wood is sanded to where it's incredibly smooth to the touch, even the feeling of sliding the stem into the body feels satisfying, and I absolutely love the lichen button.
