I don't feel like I'm addicted to it I just play Aram a few times a week - and I have a plentiful life outside of LoL

Yeah, I'm using both all the time. Funny that you mention the teams Problems. My camera 9nly works ok Linux Teams but not on Windows 😂
I'm already using libre office all the time - but aside from gaming I heard that office is the only reason to still use windows. But I just need any document editor - not ms office - so that's a no brainer for me But for some people at work when MS documents are sent via email and edited - then sometim3s it just doesn't cut it.
I've been playing LoL since a long time - practically since my friends etc. started it in 2009. I was on windows back then and moved slowly and slowly to Linux via dual boot. These days I only used windows for gaming and Linux (Ubuntu) for everything else. While back then, stuff like FLOSS and co. wasn't that important to me - these days I appreciate it much more - and I like to have a computer which just doesn't annoy me with bloat and doesn't do stuff I don't want it to do. After hearing about the steam deck stuff recently I gave gaming on Linux a try. I just follow the few simple steps outlined in online guides. It was pretty easy to install steam and league of legends. I even played a few very old games on steam - games which I didn't play all the time because I wouldn't boot up windows just for them. I did decrease the LoL graphics a bit - as my laptop is a bit older. But seriously... League of Legends was working! It was working flawlessly! 🤩 I didn't see any crashes or stuff like that. I played a few games and realised, that I really didn't need to go back to windows anymore. I'm migrating to a new laptop with better specs soon - and It'll be my first laptop in 1.5 decades that will not have dual boot. 😇 If I ever need windows again I'll either use the dual boot on my old laptop or simply run a VM for such rare cases. But even things like MS Teams work in the browser, so no need for Windows unless it's MS Office - which I never needed yet. Just wanted to share my recent personal experience 😃

Wow, you nearly described the same experiences I had just recently - when I installed steam and a few games for the first time on Linux. And I was also like "Oh, what? It actually works!!"
I immediately shrunk my windows on dual boot and will likely uninstall it completely in near future. No need for bloated windows anymore

(danke an kellerlanplayer@feddit.de)

The funny thing, is that it actually never makes sense to "predict humanities demise", as noone will be able to witness your prediction coming true. You won't be able to reap any benefits of your true prediction, so you might as well bet on survival

Think about it. Isn't light+eyes and ears+sound just the same in terms of their "influence at a distance"? We don't feel that as abnormal or magic - simply because we've sensors for them and are used to it. But physically speaking light and magnetism are based on electromagnetic forces.

A very useful entry point written in many languages to show what the good effects of the EU and co. are. Especially good when talking to doubters in the more nationalistic political landscape recently in Europe.

Given how important economic thinking is in cryptocurrencies and the world economic system in general, I think this article is very relevant and insightful. I think this is also important, because it also suggests to interpret the overarching "tokenize and economisize everything" mantra in crypto& Blockchain as a continuation of this belief system. What do you all think? Here is also a 2007 paper on it: [The Religion of the Market](https://sci-hub.se/10.1163/156853507x204914)

Source: https://old.reddit.com/r/apolloapp/comments/14dy74b/boycotting_advertisers_has_forced_changes_at ## Copied Text It seems obvious at this point that Reddit and their CEO do not care about how we feel. They’ve doubled down, tripled down, and quadrupled down. I think there’s only one recourse remaining: Tell Reddit’s advertisers we will not be buying their products or services as long as they’re providing financial support to Reddit. I’ve compiled a list of the advertisers I see the most frequently, and included their contact information when I could find it. Sometimes it’s email addresses, sometimes it’s contact forms. Sometimes their customer service is intentionally obscured, and I wasn’t able to locate anything. Here’s what I’d suggest — write a brief message along these lines: Hello, I’ve noticed your company advertises regularly on Reddit. As you may be aware, Reddit has suddenly decided to change its business practices, charging exorbitant amounts to app developers, which will have wide-reaching consequences for many, including those with disabilities. There was no attempt to even give developers an opportunity to switch to a paid system, or to implement your ads into their apps. Furthermore, Reddit’s CEO has been extremely dishonest through this process, insulting both app developers and the users who provide 100 percent of the content and moderation to their site. I will not be using your products or services as long as you continue to provide financial support to Reddit. Please feel free to add to, or change the list of advertisers and contact information. Now, I’m sure many will be pessimistic about this, but keep in mind that advertiser boycotts had massive impacts on Fox News in the past. They’re directly or indirectly led to changes with hosts like Glenn Beck, Bill O’Reilly, and Tucker Carlson; there’s a reason the advertisers for some of their top shows tend to be companies like My Pillow. As me and many others, you might have encountered the problem, that tapping on a comment in your inbox doesn't get you to the comment and it's context. However, you can actually directly jump from the comments inbox to the correct comment + context in the post. Check the image. First *long press* on the upvotes/time on the top right, to have the lower bar expanded. Then press on the chain link button below to directly open the post! It was *hard to find and know unless you already know it*. This **definitely** needs UX improvement. Hence, this post here.
Would you like to see some plugins which integrate with local/self-hosted AI instead of sending it to ChatGPT? Or don't you care about privacy there as long as the results are good? You might be interested in GPT4All (https://gpt4all.io/index.html), which can be easily downloaded as Desktops GUI. Simply download a model (like nous Hermes) for 7.5GB and **run in even without a GPU right on your CPU l** (albeit slightly slowish). It's amazing what's already possible with local AI instead of relying on large scale expensive and corporate-dependent AIs such as ChatGPT
Was habe ich zwischendurch alles erlebt? Einfach sehr erfrischend. Was ist euer Fazit seitdem ihr dabei seid?

While the second paragraph has been slightly debunked, the first paragraph is an interesting idea I've underappreciated/neglected until now. What do you think? Perhaps this is easier/more-scaleable than having federated instances with decentralised and often complex governance?
