This was a roller coaster of emotions! I had to look up Potato World after that and saw Col. Chris Hadfield is giving a speech nearby this evening

That's fair, and I do remember it being explicitly discussed and still I wasn't into it. But I am always curious to try it out again. Art hits differently at different times, after all

I had a similar upbringing, and still love My Bloody Valentine like the day I first heard them in college. More, really. I was a little disappointed to find that my new favorite genre shoegaze really just boiled down to MBV for me though haha

I don't usually give up on books, and it's been a long time so it's foggy, but my impression was that it was trying too hard to be harry potter/Narnia but adult! And edgy! And I couldn't stand Quentin or really any of the characters. I only know one other person that's experienced both and he also gave up on the book series.
Sometimes I am curious to try the books again now, but the show is so good I'd rather just rewatch it!

Ooh this reminds me of something I've had at a Chinese buffet with crab or surimi, cheese and I think celery or something in it. It didn't have any rice involved but I'll try it out, thanks for the info. I was also curious what a sushi bake would be, and it looks and sounds good!

Loved The Magicians! I didn't even make it through the first book and I can't remember what on Earth convinced me to watch the show, but I'm so glad I got on board!

My kitty had to be put down on the 20th and we'd tried so hard with meds to get her better, but it got worse quickly. She was 17 1/2 years old and I've been having such a hard time with it, but also feeling bad for being so down right now. I think this will also take me months and years, but your story helped. We've definitely been trying to love and pamper our other twerps : )

"The authors prepared several milkshakes with varying fat and sugar contents and placed a sample of each between two pig tongues procured from a local butcher. The researchers then slid the tongues across each other and measured the amount of friction between the two surfaces, providing a numerical index of each shake’s smoothness."
I just need to pause for a moment
