It worked.
I was able to put the group's Fediverse ID at the bottom of the post (from Mastodon).

I think there would have been less controversy if the official Mastodon app would had sent the user to a random general Mastodon server with open sign-ups, rather than only to mastodon.social .
(I asked some of the people who were upset over it if they would still be upset under the alternative scenario I just described — at least the ones I talked to said "no".)
UX problem with Join-Lemmy.org [@fediverseux](https://flamewar.social/c/fediverseux) “We need a better site to link to than join-lemmy.org. It should concisely pitch lemmy to everyday users and suggest an instance for them to sign up at. Don’t get into the weeds about federation or choosing instances or selecting apps. Just select a sane default and point people to it. Rotate defaults to avoid overloading a given instance or making it too powerful.” [https://lemmy.ml/comment/4353933](https://lemmy.ml/comment/4353933) [https://lemm.ee/post/9881418](https://lemm.ee/post/9881418) [\#FediverseUX](https://mastodon.social/tags/FediverseUX) [#Lemmy](https://mastodon.social/tags/Lemmy) [#Threadiverse](https://mastodon.social/tags/Threadiverse)

Some people call me by my username ("reiver") when they meet me in person.
To me, it is as much my name as my given-names are.
...
When I consider signing up for a new platform — if my preferred username isn't available, I often won't join.
...
Which never used to be a problem — as it is an obscure English word using its archaic spelling —
But, there are a lot more people on the Internet now, than there were two or more decades ago. So sometimes it gets taken by someone else.

I added these to the backlog.
(As separate issues.)
So that we can look at the later.

DNA sometimes moves from mitochondria to the cellular nucleus.
This can lead to speciation.

I'll just replace "girlfriend" with "wife" since I am married —
Nothing happens. My wife knows me well. There isn't anything I think would surprise her.

Do you recall which Firefish servers you tried (that were having stability problems)?

Yes.
There isn't much that could make me not want to have kids.
...
I actually already have children. It is one of the best things I have ever done in my life.

Hello from Mastodon.

In general, yes.

It is all automatic.
You maintain the same relationship after the move.
If you just followed them, but they didn't follow you — that continues after the move.
If they just followed you, but you didn't follow them — that continues after the move.
If you followed each other — that continues after the move.
It is all automatic.
...
As a user, if someone who follows you moves their account, you see that as a new follow in your notifications.

Yes — assuming it is safe — I have a family to support and care for (so have to think of them, too).
I want to see what's there — and see it first hand for myself.
Similar reason why I travel to different parts of the world to see things.
I think this is more than just curiosity.

That is what happens on Mastodon now when someone moves their account from one server to another — you get a notification of them following you from the other server.

It depends on what you mean by "replace".
The Fediverse may cause centralized social-media networks to join the Fediverse.
There are some hints of that happening now.
Facebook / Meta has created a new social-media network that is part of the Fediverse.
Tumblr and Flickr are said to be joining the Fediverse.
So, some "popular social media" may become one with the Fediverse.

Nothing is "official" on the Fediverse.
Because it is decentralized, no one controls it (and thus nothing can be "official").

I'm on the Fediverse, but not on Lemmy.
And I am replying to you.
Welcome to the Fediverse!
