Thanks for pointing out that it was Paul not Jesus who said that. I feel silly now. Corrected my comment.

Christ does Christians do say canonically that the church is like Christ's wife.
Marriage—Christ and the Church
22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24 Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.
(Ephesians 5:22-24)
And bridal theology goes back to the Old Testament, in Song of Songs.

Watched Asteroid City recently for the first time. I thought the play within the movie (and the intertwining back and forth of storylines) was really interesting and entertaining.

Someone did my tarot recently, and I didn't realize the second way existed. Paired with introspection after the fact, the experience was quite therapeutic.

That's impressive. Is it still licensed under a libre copyleft license? Surely that's too good to be true.

Usually bots are created with minimal effort. They post porn or affiliate links or something, and then they spam like / follow people to get people to click on their username and view their blog. They get quickly banned, and then they come back with another username. Shitty little pornbots.

It's fun! Tumblr has been basically singlehandedly supporting the textpost meme industry on Instagram for years. I like that Tumblr tends to tilt toward text rather than words images; here's my favorite example of that:

If you're thinking of joining, the #1 thing to remember is to reblog (and optionally tag) things you like, not just tap the heart icon. Tumblr is for curating a blog of things you like, and if you don't reblog anything, you look like a bot and you will get blocked. Also, likes don't actually do anything for the algorithm; likes are more like "save for later".
You decide your own algorithm, to some extent, by hitting Follow on people whose blogs you like. I like that. I think it might resonate with Lemmy users too :)

[This] study only included healthy volunteers who were not experiencing chronic pain. Therefore, it is unclear how LSD might affect individuals with chronic pain conditions, who may have different brain connectivity patterns than healthy individuals. Further research is needed to explore whether LSD could be effective in alleviating chronic pain in patients and how it compares to other pain management strategies.
Cool study, but it's a bit limited because of this. I was hoping they would find something analogous to how MDMA might help treatment-resistant depression.

I'm East Asian. My ex (also Asian) said I smelled bad sometimes after exercising, but my current partner (not Asian) says I don't have any body odor. I do think that when we go to the gym together, their smell far outweighs mine. I can't smell myself at all, but then again, people are usually habituated to their own scents.
Sometimes, though, when I was a child, my father would come home from the gym, and we could all smell him from a mile away. I don't know if that's because the gene skipped him or if it's just because humans generally think their close family members are stinky.
It's nice to talk about this when my armpits aren't in danger of being sniffed by several drunk friends.

Apologies; it's my first time posting here. I had just a link at first, but I thought it might be helpful to add a screenshot, like an overall preview of the post. Is it confusing to have something other than the link? I can take it out.
I think the image is grainy because of lemm.ee's image uploading rules, but don't quote me on that... I really just wanted to have the image as a fallback of sorts, completely secondary to the link.
Edit: I've updated the post to reflect that the image isn't meant to be the main thing. Is that the best thing to do?

Is anyone else getting reports that Voyager is crashing frequently? I'm using Voyager version 1.27.0 on my Android phone, and I'm using the native app, not the PWA. This issue has persisted for about a week now, even after several reboots. I have also tried clearing the application cache, with no results.
I free-handed a bee and some honeycombs on some jeans with the last of my yellow embroidery floss, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I'm not a professional, and I certainly don't do things the way you're "supposed to" (planning things out, sketching them with water-soluble ink/chalk), but I had fun making this and I'm excited to wear it :D One thing I learned is that denim requires a thicker needle and not necessarily a sharper tinier one. I was using a thinner one previously and it kept getting stuck between threads and bending when I tried to pull it through. It's way easier with a small embroidery hoop and a big needle!
Does anyone know of any privacy-oriented voicemail clients for Android that transcribe messages? (If this isn't the best place to post this, please let me know!)
I like watching bestdressed and I think I like her style, but sometimes she says something is "vintage". Similarly, Nicole Rafiee sometimes mentions vintage home decor items (not fashion, but still). And I can't identify what is so vintage about these things. What do you consider to be "vintage" women's clothing? If you're going to say "It depends", then what does it depend on?
Is there a setting to remove haptic feedback (vibration upon voting and probably some other less common actions I'm forgetting)? For context I'm using the Chrome PWA on Android.
I have downloaded the Voyager PWA from one browser (Chrome), but I want links I click in the PWA to open in another browser (Firefox Nightly). Currently, links I click in the PWA open in-app, preventing me from easily switching between the Lemmy context of the link and the website itself. Is there a way to set it to open in another browser rather than within the same app?
Is anyone else obsessed with how well the songs in *Turn Off The Light* and *Slut Pop* blend in to each other? Seamless transitions like between "There Will Be Blood" and "Bloody Valentine" on *Turn Off The Light* remind me of albums like *Hamilton*. It's like there's a coherent story I can follow while driving home or drawing, and it makes me so happy.
I'd like to be able to hide pinned posts because, for instance, my home instance lemm.ee includes four or five pinned posts that I have to scroll past every time I refresh the home page (which I do pretty often because I like sorting by new rather than active/hot; reminds me of how Instagram used to be several years ago). (Thanks for making Liftoff! This is my first post here, please do tell me if there's anything I'm doing wrong.) EDIT: Sorry, it's all good! I just didn't understand that some pinned posts really are new. It's time to go to sleep for me. Going to delete this. Sorry if you wasted your time reading this!
