Have all hexbears touched a music recording, i.e., a CD, cassette or record? I realized that people who never have are going to be an increasing segment of the population and wondered if any of us are in it.

I went to the totality zone of the solar eclipse and people were giving their little kids the lunar eclipse explanation, saying the earth's shadow was going to cover the moon. People who deliberately came to the event where what was going on was explained countless times got it that wrong. People back then were just as smart as us; not very. The only reason there weren't freak-outs of historical importance is that the whole thing is over before you can organize a cult around it.

Watching All Quiet on the Western Front (1979) in history class. Since Vietnam, war coverage in the US has been heavily censored, often to the point where we're just given casualty figures. I don't know how other people process those figures, but their reactions seem to me like they aren't processing them at all. The words are spoken, the number displayed on the screen and the audience waits for sports and the weather. To me, it's that number times some nightmare-fuel death from that movie.
After school came 9/11, then the Iraq invasion, then the '04 election where the democrats put up Kerry, who had voted for the war. I could vote for an instigator of that unfathomable amount of suffering or for an enabler. I wish I had just written off democrats then instead of falling for Bernie years later.

Knowing more than 3 flags is nerdery to a chud. Even if one realized what flag you were carrying, they'd have to weigh the possibility of getting punched and being told to "shut up, nerd" after announcing it. I think you'd stand a good chance of going home safely.

Are there more specific rumors as to the investigations out there that the times isn't printing? I feel like I just finished an episode and have to contend with the post-episode thread for a week.

If Journey's worst offense is looking uncool, that puts them ahead of most classic rock bands. Also now have Wheel in the Sky playing in my head and about to play it out loud, thanks (seriously).

Eddie Vedder always sounded like he was singing those songs for 20 years and had kinda sanded all the identifiable words out of the vocals, but he hadn't been. He was 26 when Ten came out. Where did he pick up that delivery?

It really seems like it's dying out. Or at least isn't attracting any newer Tom Cruises. Like look where we are, on a thread where the maybe-scientologist's name requires elaboration because most people aren't familiar.

Still inaccurate -- 1.7% of GSW patients are there for GSW to the penis (GSWP). By only considering patients, there's a bias against GSWs where treatment was not sought. If a bullet grazes my shoulder while I was doing something I don't want known to everybody, I might try to treat it at home. GSWP? I'm going to see a doctor, a real doctor, not somebody's cousin who almost finished nursing training, an actual doctor, so the second wound ends up in the numerator and denominator while the first contributes to neither.

Moonfall. Started it on a plane 10 minutes too late to see the whole thing, came home and immediately pirated it to get closure on that garbage.

Wouldn't that be great, too? Five-base baseball with no commercials, a new World Series where the name isn't a joke and they keep the name because what's the imperial core doing to do about it?

I've thought about this in the context of car alarms. There was a discussion about banning car alarms in densely populated areas and somebody said that that would enable car theft and I was like [where is the two cakes emote?].

It was a pasty with a nip-hole so you'd think it wasn't as naughty until you looked closer. The nipple is a very steep cliff with usians -- you can show sideboob and underboob all you want and only the 700 club will get offended but nipple itself causes a bipartisan meltdown.

calling it:
"Lawyer reads out the ai drivel that contributed to somebody's death in front of incredulous jurors" will be a comedy trope until 2032, when a gritty Batman reboot has its Harvey Dent do a dramatic one, sobbing with flashbacks to, I don't know, something that still provokes a response in 2032, there has to be an emotional vein around here somewhere. Teachers will complain that many of their students have made sob-reading ai drivel their whole personality.

I have way way way too many cookies. I wouldn't know what to do with 3.2 trillion cookies to begin with, but that's my production per second. I guess run for the hills and hope cookie mountain crushes all records of who owns what that could implicate me in the cookie disaster of 2024.

My current foster goes to the adoption center in a few short hours. He is as charming as he looks and will be adopted to a good home soon. I'll miss the guy. EDIT: Adopted!
One fun thing about my current foster is that when he decides where on me he's going to sit, he just goes there and falls over. Other cats cautiously get into position, ready for anything and everything to go wrong until they're exactly where they want to be, but for this one, it's just a trust fall.
