Ibanez BTB7MS, the multi-scale version of the Ibanez BTB747, which is pretty much the only somewhat mainstream 7-string bass.

This was just released this year, and it feels like a godsend because this kind of bass is perfect for me, especially since I've been thinking a lot about getting started on recording my debut solo EP. Originally, I was going to use a standard BTB747 to record that EP, but **this** is even better because of the advantages of fanned-fret basses, which include having some degree of more comfortable playing, but, most importantly, it entails a more clear and robust sound for lower frequencies as well. I used to play six-string bass regularly and primarily, but due to complications with my family, I lost many of my instruments. I got a budget 4-string Yamaha as a gift, and I practice it every day, but my heart has been with the extended-range prog metal kind of deal for ages. I intend to use this as my signature instrument, as it's basically the only easily accessible model that gives me everything I want from a bass. I intend to use drop A tuning on it, so it'll be rigged up with the strings from lowest to highest being A₀–E₁–A₁–D₂–G₂–C₃–F₃. Like I said, this is most certainly what I'm going to record my debut solo EP with. When I've saved up a good deal of money, especially now that I'm getting back to job stability, I plan to make it work. I have everything I need to get started on this album except for the instrument itself. I have recording equipment and a DAW, alongside my brain, creativity, and fingers, of course. I have conceptualized some things on my 4-string already, and I feel a lot of inspiration through the ideas I've been able to come up with so far. I will also eventually seek out a full band, and yes, we will dj0nt obviously, but I'll be more likely to look for other musicians after I finally start the process of beginning the actual technical workings of my solo EP, such as full-fledged songwriting, recording, and production. It will be an instrumental progressive metal bass EP consisting of multiple seven-string bass tracks, programmed drums, and maybe some light synth-like ambiance as well.

TesseracT: Polaris tankie.tube

I was talking about music the other week in the trans mega, and how I couldn't really get into the newer TesseracT stuff. So that was a lie... If you want specific songs, I have four words for you: Tourniquet and Seven Names (although if you're looking for higher-energy, do Dystopia and Messenger)

The Clash- The Card Cheat https://youtu.be/nhbSYP8cyD8

London Calling is just a string of amazing songs but I really really think this one is overlooked. It's an entire Scorsese movie in 4 minutes and that piano/guitar main riff and how it changes between the beginning and ending literally makes me cry every time. It's the best chord progression ever and Elton John fucking wishes he wrote this as much as I also like Elton John. There's a solitary man crying, "Hold me." It's only because he's a-lonely If the keeper of time runs slowly He won't be alive for long! If he only had time to tell of all of the things he planned With a card up his sleeve, what would he achieve? It means nothing! To the opium den and the barroom gin In the Belmont chair playing violins The gambler's face cracks into a grin As he lays down the king of spades But the dealer just stares There's something wrong here, he thinks The gambler is seized and forced to his knees And shot dead He only wanted more time Away from the darkest door But his luck it gave in As the dawn light crept in And he lay on the floor From the Hundred Year War to the Crimea With a lance and a musket and a Roman spear To all of the men who have stood with no fear In the service of the King Before you met your fate be sure you Did not forsake your lover May not be around anymore

Need help with vocal and bass effects

My friends and I are starting a band and it's the first time for all of us. Right now we're just playing in a basement and figuring things out. We just got a mic and quickly realized vocals sound BAD without reverb and possibly other effects that are unknown to me. What should I get to make the vocals sound decent? Also probably need help on how to set up the signal chain. Right now the mic is plugged directly into a Roland KC-550. Also, recommend some bass pedals that won't make me homeless if I buy them. I currently just have a P-Bass going into an Ampeg RB-108.

Hot take: I fucking hate Pearl Jam

This is one of those posts where I don't mean for it to be bait whatsoever, I am being totally genuine here, but with the reaction I've gotten for stating this opinion throughout my life, I figured I'd start with thatI do not like Pearl Jam at all, save for a song or two I think are good, I like the song Black quite a bit and I heard another song I can't remember the name of once that I thought was alright. But every single time I try to listen to this band's discography, I hate it. At one point, I wanted to like Pearl Jam and listened to Ten a ton to try to acclimate myself to the album like I've done with many others I had an initial sour taste to. I thought it was annoying. If every band from the 90s is Red Hot Chili Peppers but more or less annoying on a spectrum, Pearl Jam is on the lower end of that spectrum. However, I still find Pearl Jam to be annoying and uninspiring. Am I just too young to understand them? There are a lot of vocalists I don't understand that I like because of how they use their voice as an instrument, but I find how Vedder using his vocals absolutely indecipherable. Someone will hear some lyrics from him and be like "damn I felt that" when I didn't understand a goddamn word Vedder had said. I've listened to a lot of grunge, really love The Smashing Pumpkins and Dinosaur Jr. the most because I'm also a lover of dream pop and shoegaze. I should be okay with Veddar having indecipherable vocals, it just seems like they way he does it is stupid. If you guys have any suggestions for Pearl Jam songs you think I'll like, feel free to comment them, I'm not going to just be a shithead. I'd also appreciate hearing what you guys specifically appreciate about the group or the song you comment. I feel like I'm missing so much context with how many people I like also being Pearl Jam fans, but maybe I'm not missing anything and other people also agree with how annoying they are? help hexbear

Slowdive - Blue Skied An' Clear [Dream Pop]

One of my favorite Slowdive songs. I love Slowdive for many different moods. While their most popular album, "Souvlaki" focuses more on the pop side of dream pop that creates insanely catchy yet dissociative sounds, the album this is from "Pygmalion" focuses more on the dream side of dream pop. The intro for the album, "Rutti" is a very progressive track, having so many strange time signatures popped on top of each other. The album is generally more psychedelic than dissociative with its constantly changing rhythms. I love Slowdive.
