Check the FSF's violations of GNU licenses page. You can also email the FSF's licensing and compliance lab at licensing@fsf.org and our team would be happy to assist.

Dasharo works on Z690-A, yes. You may want to check compatibility reports for the CPU and GPU on their website/GitHub first, though.

Some superficial thoughts, please correct me if I'm wrong. Isn't AdNauseam generating more traffic to ads, thus increasing their value in terms of metrics? Also, do people really think that agencies like NSA, which are capable of extremely sophisticated surveillance, can be disrupted by random text in emails? These tools sound like a waste of time to me.

The patent was about a "sorting system". More info here.

It was a niche network for few passionate people. Content was more political than generic. It always felt like it would succeed though. Only thing I'm missing is that the website was blazing fast back then. It's struggling now with all the new users but I'm sure that will be fixed sooner or later.

That's true. It's the human element that creates the political attribute.

You are thinking of software as if it exists in a vacuum. Software that is libre is a political statement. Software that is proprietary is also a political statement. Lemmy choosing to be decentralized/federated/interoperable is also a conscious political decision just as Apple chose to create its own proprietary ecosystem instead of caring about interoperability.

On 1 June 2023, the Unified Patent Court and the unitary patent were entered into force. Simply put, this means that we will soon have software patents in Europe that are effective automatically in the entire European Union. Hardly anyone talks about this, but it is bound to become a problem. I am currently editing relevant entries on ESP Wiki. This specific entry is about the history and dangers of harmonizing the European patent systems (spoiler alert: the EU had been trying to create such a system ever since its creation).

You can find some gigantic filter lists out there. Check https://filterlists.com.
This is a new ESP Wiki entry explaining the situation around software patents on a new data compression algorithm. The original author, Jarek Duda, released his work into the public domain. Despite his intentions, Big Tech companies are attempting to patent his technology around the world. In early 2022, Microsoft registered a [software patent on ANS](https://www.theregister.com/2022/02/17/microsoft_ans_patent). Google tried to do the same a few years ago but failed. We can't catch them all. The free software community is fighting an unfair battle. Megacorporations are stealing people's work by imposing unjustified patent rights. The patent offices grant software patents despite obvious existence of prior art.

This is the first post on Lemmy related to ESP Wiki. I will be posting updates here from now on. Please share this site if you can. Combating software patents is very important for user freedom. Some notes: I'm trying to make ESP Wiki a user-friendly place so that anyone can find it easy to contribute information. For this reason, I focused on creating a style guide and some neat templates. Templates are especially important because we can use them to easily mark entries that need work, so we can focus on them first. Here is an overview of March 2022 project updates so far: * Added [content policies](https://wiki.endsoftwarepatents.org/wiki/ESP_Wiki:About#Content_policies). * Added a [style guide](https://wiki.endsoftwarepatents.org/wiki/ESP_Wiki:Style_guide). * Created an ESP community on Lemmy (here!). * Amended [several templates](https://wiki.endsoftwarepatents.org/wiki/ESP_Wiki:Style_guide#Templates), based on a new House Style [warnbox](https://wiki.endsoftwarepatents.org/wiki/Template:Warnbox).

Very impressive! It would be awesome to have this kind of overview for all Fediverse instances.
An article I wrote for ESP a few months ago. I thought it would be good to have it posted here too.
A community for the discussion of software patents. [End Software Patents](https://endsoftwarepatents.org) (ESP) is a global initiative of the [Free Software Foundation](https://fsf.org). We believe that software patents constitute a [threat](https://endsoftwarepatents.org/2021/08/the-threat-of-software-patents-persists/) to developer freedom. I was an FSF [intern](https://www.fsf.org/blogs/community/my-internship-at-the-fsf-and-the-domino-effect-of-thoughts) who worked on [overhauling](https://www.fsf.org/blogs/community/join-the-fight-against-software-patents-with-the-revamped-campaign-site) the ESP campaign. The project was successful and I now contribute as an admin. Software patents are a particularly complex legal topic. I created this community hoping that it will bring people's attention back to this issue, so feel free to post there anything related to software patents. You can also join our IRC channel at [#endsoftwarepatents](irc://irc.libera.chat/endsoftwarepatents) on Libera.Chat!
