There is a small vocal minority that essentially equates anyone who keeps eating meat regardless of circumstances, preference or nuance, [to killers, murderers, etc]. Honestly a large amount of people would take a vegan option if it tasted the same, had the same texture, was as cheap or cheaper than meat, was as accessible, and didn't require learning a new skill set. There's also the availability when eating out.
Antagonizing people like that is a good way to have them disagree out of spite, and the militant vegans always have a way of inserting themselves into every conversation. I had to block people on lemmy because I just didnt want to deal with that here.
Unfortunately a vegan who is a good person isn't alwayd out there proselytizing at every chance they get in a non intrusive manner, so people rarely if ever see vegans who are reasonable people relative to vegan extremists.

CS2 is at least 1 blatant cheater every match that I play (spinbot, anti-aim, walls, aimhack). They react to things they cant see, shoot you through a smoke and a wall with no hesitation and generally dont hide it that well. You can even watch the demo back to see them lock onto someone they havent heard or seen through the wall and follow them perfectly, reacting to what the other player does without seeing or hearing it. Vac has been a joke for years and even now with "Vac 3.0" i havent seen a single person get banned

One thing I'm not a fan of is the argument that "it is what you make of it," because platforms act entirely differently depending on the other users, the algorithms, methods of interaction, interface, content and culture. Its very difficult for me to to have a good time on facebook because it fails in a lot of those aspects: toxic users, algorithms tbat push nonsense, a bad interface, incompatible content and culture. The general theme is that many social media sites end up being very polarizing and echo chambery.

My employer gives unlimited sick time but if you use too much you might have to talk to hr about taking a leave of absence if its something long term. If I am not feeling good I "call in" (i.e. send an email :•| ). We also have PTO but being salaried I get paid the same for sick days anyways. If i need a mental health day I just call in and use PTO only for vacation days like they should be used

The other thing is having proof for what the minimum standards (regulation and policy wise) should be
I did jury duty (though the defense was a nursing home), and understaffing was a major point of the case- pain medication inadequately given, checks for incontinence care done once a day maybe, no nurses available to assist for a patient screaming in pain, and inadequate turning. There were 3-4 CNAs for a wing of 40 patients, which gave them a bit north of 20 minutes to tend to each patient per day after removing their breaks, feeding times and meetings

Thr big problem with this is that pretty much all of our systems rely on infinite uninterrupted growth (e.g. social security) which is just not possible. Rather than tear it down and/or build new systems that dont rely on this, many people who have paid into the system feel ripped off that they have paid into it but will never see the benefits. The people currently collecting hold a lot of political and financial power and would never vote to interrupt that even for the benefit of future generations.
Version: 1.0.14 (17) Device: Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Browser: Firefox Mobile Beta When opening links in comments, it collapses the comment. Additionally, links in comments can take 30-60s to open *after* tapping them. When long pressing and then tapping open in browser, the link opens immediately. Similar behavior observed when opening some link posts - tapping post to open the link can take a while, while directly selecting the option is almost immediate. This also means that several copies of the link open up and must each individually be closed

Dimmers will typically use a triac which cuts up the sinusoidal waveform. It doesnt actually lower the amplitude per se, but it limits the fraction of the time the waveform is on. Kinda like this. This means that a lot of the time the led isnt gettingas much or any power. The average power will be lower, and if the LED driving circuitry isnt designed to compensate for this, the LED will flicker.
Clarification on triacs: they get turned on a certain fraction of the way into the cycle. Triacs will stay on until the voltage across them is 0. Conveniently the zero-crossing of the AC wave (when the wall voltage crosses zero to start foing negative or from negative to positive) does just that.

Thats what I was trying to argue but the other jurors were more concerned with not having to come back on Monday and a "that's what it says" with no critical thinking. Esp when the plaintiff expert witnesses (an excellent nurse who has a practice investigating nursing homes for compliance with the federal regulations and an excellent doctor who worked for CMS writing the very regulations) outlined what care the law requires

Just finished my jury duty and it was a wild ride
Other jurors shocked me with how antaganostic they were to the plaintiff for asking for compensation and punishment for a nursing home's negligence. We ended up awarding money for clear negligence- specifically for injuries (physical and financial) and pain, but it was a struggle to find agreement from them for clear facts that neither side disputed (and verbally acknowledged this nondispute). When it came time to answer if the doctor was negligent in not consulting a wound physician, they didnt agree because the nursing home policy said "do it if wound doesnt improve in 2-4 weeks". Wound got worse over the 5-6 weeks they waited and by the time they did, she was so bad from not participating in therapy (due to being laid on the wound constantly and the ensuing pain) that she had had to be put on hospice and died from a lack of dialysis.
Because they didnt find the violation of her rights (violations were agreed to) to be reckless or willful (such as by understaffing or poor care), we could not award additional damages to punish the nursing home
I take solace in the fact that it gave the family closure for a 6 year lawsuit

Imagine the kinds of things that even top athletes wouldn't care to bring to the attention of doctors or dont get treated because of the cost hurdle. Imagine extending that to the entirety of the American population. Most of medical costs in america are because of the privatization of health care, administration overhead and artificially inflated costs.
Its insane to me that people who are incompetent, especially at their own jobs, can get paid orders of magnitude higher than skilled workers. I did jury duty recently and in the case, the VP of a nursing facility was getting paid in excess of 200k and had the gall to claim they did everything by the book in a negligence case (they did not) and constantly failed to answer the attorney's questions properly (she'd always answer a different question than what was asked, refuse to answer yes/no, contradict clear facts about what was on the page in front of her). Not sure who she thought she was fooling. Attorney literally had to ask her if they were looking at the same paper because she was in a different world. Its people like that that keep our healthcare system so expensive that people cant afford to survive.
I have no doubt that people will fight tooth and nail to keep their trashy privatized health care - let them. Its just stupid to me that they refuse to allow lower cost health care of the same quality by the government. My brother in christ you could use it too if you stopped fighting for it to not get passed

Certain libraries like praw still work to some extent (my discord bot is still running somehow) but trying to scrape all of the posts in a sub might have to be done slowly. You might be able to sort by old so that the results dont move relative to the page and then go page by page.
