I would agree with this. I used Gentoo for a while before moving to Ubuntu.
Gentoo helps you learn and leads (forces) you down the path of getting under the hood to tweak your Linux experience.
I wouldn't recommend it if you need to build systems quickly for production. I'm sure there are hacks to do it more quickly.
I'm really glad I used it before Ubuntu. I feel like a have a much firmer grasp of the concepts of Linux because of my experience with it.

I totally agree. I actually played the game after hearing the soundtrack. I had to see what sort of game would have music this sick. Careful listening to it while driving though. You'll get busted for speeding.

Did you have a recommendation for an ear wash?
caseinpoint 1 year ago • 100%
Nope. Doesn't get wet much. She is a lab and they are prone to these issues.
We don't have any water that she gets into other than when we bathe her.
Our lab constantly has yeast infections that we have to constantly treat. I would like to know if anyone has advice on what medications seem to work the best for a chronic case of yeast ear infections.

My wife was sweet about it but did a slight eye-roll when my Brother In-law got us an air fryer 3 years ago for Christmas. We've gotten rid of our toaster and use our oven less often.
PS - Air fried leftovers are so freaking good.

Thank you. I looked back at our calendar and we do take them to a Tractor Supply where they have the dog wash stations.
We actually wash them about once a month or less. It just feels like more often. Lol
Thank you for the recommendation on the diy shampoo and conditioner.
I have a heavy shedding lab along with some other dogs who shed at or a little above average. We use furminator Deshedding tools on them, but I'd like to take it a step further because it just gets ridiculous as we come into summer months. We wash all 3 dogs almost every other week. I'd like to see if any of you have any recipes for both Deshedding shampoo and conditioner. This video from GO Groomer is my inspiration for this request. https://youtu.be/EwrDnLjj5l8

I can't remember when, but I know I saw EXistenZ on HBO somewhere. I first saw it from the middle of the movie and thought "If I watch this from the beginning I might understand it." Turns out watching it again didn't help, but I watched it again anyway. It was sort of like a fascinating disaster.
Kudos to the creators of that film. I don't think I could have come up with that primis.

This could be something that could be incorporated into the development of this process. I would love that too.
If I suddenly didn't like the way an instance is doing their administration I could move easily.
caseinpoint 1 year ago • 85%
Not really. The content of what is in the fediverse is still distributed and not owned or living in a single instance.
It would add the ability to simply your username/instance/password administration.
It would also allow an account to have an ability to create a community because if I find someone on Lemmy that has similar interests as I do it's likely I would enjoy their content on other platforms.
Right now people have to post all of their social media in their profile and then I have to go log into those platforms and go find them to follow them.
If I found someone that I want to connect with on multiple platforms it be would be great if I could choose them through a "Follow Me Across The Fediverse" option where I could pick what platforms I follow them on.
I think it could add a lot to the sense of community.

I find people who develop deep passions for things you never consider in daily life to be incredibly fascinating. This is especially true for things that others might find boring.
I always want to understand why they find so much pleasure in something others might consider mundane.

Well there ya go. I just saw this was posted.
Would something single sign on (SSO) even be possible? I think the convenience of having a single account for the family of federated platforms would be wildly convenient. Of course folks could continue to have individual accounts on each platform if they wanted. I also understand that it would create a very tempting target for hackers and it would need to use MFA (multi factor authentication). Just a thought and I would like to see you all have to say. Asking after having [this discussion](https://reddthat.com/post/377783).

Got it, but I figured if I'm trying to log into the application, the credentials from my Mastodon account would be authenticated against my instance there.
Like having a email client on your computer. You should be able to authenticate against your Yahoo, Outlook, or Google.
I thought federated accounts would utilize the same authentication regardless of platform because they use the ActivityPub protocol. Maybe I need to learn more about it. Based on the information about that page it looks like you can auth into Pixelfed and PeerTube using your Mastodon credentials.
I would love it if eventually there could be SSO across Federated platforms such as Lemmy.
Additionally, from the Lemmy wiki page it says it is compatible with Mastodon and PeerTube. I guess I would like to understand how they are compatible.
Lemmy instances are federated with each other, allowing a user on a given instance to participate in a "community" on another Lemmy instance without having to create an account on the other instance;[4] and with other instances in the Fediverse that use different software. ActivityPub is the protocol used to allow Lemmy instances to operate as a federated social network. It allows users to interact with compatible platforms including Mastodon and PeerTube.[15]
I've tried to log into Lemmy through multiple apps using my Mastodon username and instance, but I get errors. I thought federated accounts were supposed to be usable across applications. Am I misunderstanding?

Doesn't the app already have my cached account instances? Could it initiate through each of those instances to find the proper URL?
Sorry if I don't understand the limitation. It looks like from other replies that Fedilab appears to do this in some aspect.
caseinpoint 1 year ago • 100%
This is exactly what I would like to do.
Edit: I just purchased Fedilab so I could try it.
I have multiple accounts that I use and I would like to know or change which account I'm posting from or up/down voting from without having to start from the default view of my account. When I do this I have to go find that post again it I have to go find that community again so I can post. **The Ask** Can we get options to switch between accounts in more places so we can keep our current view?
Would it be possible to know what countries are adopting Lemmy across instances?

Putting your Teflon and other non-stick applied coatings come off even faster with you put them in the dish washer. I know they say they are are dish washer safe, and they probably are for the first dozen washes.
My cast iron has gotten to the point where I practically don't need oil on to fry an egg.
Be good to your body and your family an nice away from those coated pans.

I'm home milling my wheat berries in a Vitamix and can't really sift out the bran. Should I autolyse the milled flour?
I'm thinking of making these for a 4th of July party for BBQ sandwiches.
Update 1: I tried this and they came out burnt on the bottom. I have a gas oven, so it may run hotter. I'd either lower the temperature in step 8 to 425°F (218°C) and/or not put the baking pans on the bottom.
Update #2: Ok, so I realized that I left my oven at 450°F (250°C) from step 6. I'll give this a go again tomorrow.
So I got a Vitamix dry container and managed to mill my own wheat berries. Made some whole wheat bread that turned out pretty decent. How many of you do this? What is your setup and how often are you milling your own flour? My first post since moving away from Reddit. Please be kind. 😃
