just use Soulseek (through Nicotine+) and Torrents (through a free/libre client of your choice) and if you like some smaller artist buy their stuff on Bandcamp or even better Mirlo

I posted this through Jerboa and filled out the alt text field accordingly.
Could you give me some feedback on it, is it visible for you? I could only see the alt text through a long press on the image in the web client...
EDIT: ofc simply adding it to the post body as well is a solution, but ATM I'm interested in the "integrated" alt text field and how that is visible

The revolutionary struggle is the very antithesis of the parliamentary struggle. In Germany, for four decades we had nothing but parliamentary “victories.” We practically walked from victory to victory. And when faced with the great historical test of August 4, 1914, the result was the devastating political and moral defeat, an outrageous debacle and rot without parallel. To date, revolutions have given us nothing but defeats. Yet these unavoidable defeats pile up guarantee upon guarantee of the future final victory.

def Disco Elysium
heed this warning though: after Disco, there is no going back; most storytelling might seem subpar or just of low quality afterwards
it's also soul crushing, existentialist and doesn't shy away from critiquing/ridiculing society and what it believes in (from a Marxist pov, though Communism itself isn't spaired either in the game, with a harsh critique only communists could write), but it's also one of the most hopeful games I've ever played at the same time
I would rly recommend a blind play through without cheating through quick saves! (aka. save scumming) A lot of decisions in the game succeed based on the probability of your stats accomplishing it. I made the mistake in my first play through and just forced everything I wanted by reloading over and over again -_-

Thus far I have only (extensively) listened to lib podcasts like the "The History of Rome" and "Revolutions" (only the October revolution part ie. the last 'season') by Mike Duncan and just recently started listening to "The History of Byzantium"
Since most of the major English ones which I have saved in Antennapod (can rly recommend this free/libre podcast app) were already mentioned, I thought I'd recommend smth different; a leftist mental health podcast:
The description:
Two mental health professionals explore how our capitalist economic system impacts our emotional lives. From precarious housing and employment, to unaffordable healthcare, to endless debt -- it's not just in your head!
I haven't given it a listen yet, but have heard good things about it

Hiii there~ fellow revolutionary socialists! Ik, I have been putting this off for faaaar too long, but have finally got myself to open up mod applications! Since the inception of this batch of communities, I haven't rly had the capacity to proactively moderate them as I'd like to (and still don't). Thus, I'd like to request ***your*** help in taking over moderation and have come up with a vetting process to hand off virtually all day-to-day operations. ### The "batch of communities" I keep referring to: - [!actualcommunism@lemmy.dbzer0.com](https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/c/actualcommunism) - [!actualsocialism@lemmy.dbzer0.com](https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/c/actualsocialism) - [!actualcommunism101@lemmy.dbzer0.com](https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/c/actualcommunism101) - [!actualsocialism101@lemmy.dbzer0.com](https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/c/actualsocialism101) - [!leftymemes@lemmy.dbzer0.com](https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/c/leftymemes) - [!anarchismvsmarxism@lemmy.dbzer0.com](https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/c/anarchismvsmarxism) ## Here are some criteria/expectations: #### You MUST: - be at least fluent in English (not proficient, doesn't have to be your 1st language; it's technically my 3rd language lol) - be a revolutionary socialist falling into the spectrum defined in the rules of the specific community - have a [Matrix account](https://joinmatrix.org/) #### You SHOULD: - be somewhat knowledgeable with revolutionary socialism and it's concepts (again, relevant to the specific community - have enough time and motivation available to reasonably and regularly check on your community(/ies) (ofc in the context of what makes sense in your timezone) - have an account that is older than 3 months, with pre-existing history #### Nice to have: - familiarity with Lemmy moderation tools - have a history of being active in the community(/ies) you'd like to mod #### entirely optional: - be willing to regularly post in/contribute to your community(/ies) ## To apply please: - send me your @matrixUsername:matrixHomeserver with a PM from the Lemmy acc with which you are applying - answer the questionnaire - subsequently contact me [over on Matrix](https://matrix.to/#/@alsaaas:aria-net.org) - send me your "filled out" questionnaire that way in the following format: > 1. Question1? *your answer here* > 2. Question2 *your 2nd answer here* ... (just copy paste the questionnaire and append your answers to the questions) If I think you'd fit, I'll invite you into the Matrix space I've set up. I'd like to first pool some ppl there and then come up with a concept collectively, after which I'll give out the mod rights on Lemmy. After this initial group has been established, future applications will be overseen in the "Recruits" room of the mentioned Matrix space. ## Questionnaire: 1. Which community(/ies) would you like to help moderate? 2. Have you read the rules of said community(/ies) and do you agree to upkeep/enforce them proactively? 3. Would you want humanity to evolve past capitalism towards a stage of a class-, money- and stateless society (ie. communism)? 4. Do you think there should be a socialist world republic? 5. Would you classify the Russian Federation and the Peoples' Republic of China as imperialist? 3. What is your take on the fraternal war between Russia and Ukraine, triggered by Russian aggression? 4. What is your take on the Zionist occupation of Palestine?

I know I'm late to the party lol, but these would be my 2 cents (ie. basic rundown):
Both Anarchism and Marxism are strains of revolutionary socialism, but split and remain split over both fundamental and petty disagreements...
The "original" "split" occurred as far back as the First International. This split happened for both theoretical and practical reasons, as well as simple quarrels of personality. Since then, the relationship has been kinda strained, especially with more bureaucracy-friendly strains of "Marxism" (read: revisionist) having seen Anarchists as something to get rid of (historically) and many anarchists saying that wanting a workers' state makes you a "redfash tankie"
Marxism is - in parts (depending on your pov) - a philosophy giving us the tools of dialectical and historical materialism. These are what give Marxists the impression that they are the stewards of scientific socialism.
Thus, Anarchism is seen as idealist and as ignoring material conditions (or not prioritizing them as much) in favour of metaphysical concepts.
(I have not yet studied Anarchism to verify whether those are assumptions made in bad faith as to discredit Anarchists, or whether they have practical merit).
Tl;dr: Anarchism and Marxism have the same goal of a class-, money- and stateless society. Both thus oppose capitalism as the reigning mode of production, but conflict partially stems from fundamental disagreements of e.g. what a state even is, how to get to communism, as well as petty/historical grievances.
I see myself as a Marxist, but if an anarchist revolution would break out, I'd try to support it as best as I can instead of sabotaging it. I hope for this community to be a place of good faith interaction to prevent petty quarrels between those two movements and maybe encourage practical cooperation between honest leftists (read: revolutionary socialists).

the effect is not the same either, you can just get a pump and refill the tires instead of needing to change them

So I'm watching TOS for the first time... (have alreay watched all show from TNG to DISC quite a while ago and yes, my fav is DS9 followed by TNG) and have just started "The Enemy Within" Idk why but my shitpost-ridden brain instantly went "wait... d-did they make Kirk hot?" that's it, that's the post. It's mostly a /hj (I hope (?)) (just has the vibe of queercoding a villain having the opposite effect) EDIT: I have now seen the following sexual assault scene, wtf

(img translation: "Wind-up toys with a common key") However, expending all your energy and agitprop potential on getting ppl to vote for the good cop instead of the bad cop, still legitimizes the dictatorship of capital (as well as it's sham democracies). It makes it seem like voting could solve systemic problems, instead of it just playing the game of late-stage capitalism. Anywayy.... that's my take (so probably incorrect) This thing is a one-time thing tho, there is actually a sibling community for this kind of stuff: [!actualsocialism@lemmy.dbzer0.com](https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/c/actualsocialism)
may his fight against Alzheimer's stay strong as well

Am also looking for sneakers to get for the following seasons: - grey ones for summer - black ones for spring/autumn But I'm virtually clueless when it comes to fashion + they should be available in the EU
I'm currently looking for new (or 2nd hand) boots to get and was wondering whether anyone here had experience with Solovair in particular or could recommend other ones available in the EU.
