I've gotten so tired of the non-stop reddit/lemmy/mastodon/threads drama I pulled the plug on all recurring donations for the foreseeable future. Thanks to threads the fedverse is starting the reddit style drama cycles and I'm pretty much over trying to sort through it. I know I can block content, my concern is my refusal to donate to an outfit that supports meta or similar properties.

[OC] This guy got off the train in 1979 and stayed there. See body for back story.

I was sitting at one of my "solitude" areas in the middle of the day on a week day. I start hearing this thumping and was thinking WTF is some asshat in a tuner doing out here at this time. I realized I was hearing ["Wild Eyed Southern Boys"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCq4EkzLlQM) by .38 Special blasting, then this guy pulls up. Best disruption of my personal peace ever. Leaving out he was blasting [Urgent](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ar6F7CkHdbs) by Foreigner, only thing missing was he didn't have an 8-Track player in it.

My daughter found this recently. @Techpriest about three lifetimes ago getting some long forgotten award while working with a Marine Cadre unit Naval Air Station Millington TN.

She was really proud to find it, but it kicked me square in the age..... It is more, the job was cool than I was cool.

Almost everybody I work with rides and we sometimes ride together. This one, several of us went across the entire [Cherohala Skyway](https://cherohala.com/) about a 6 hour ride. Lead to tail- '10 Kawasaki ZG1400, '74 Harley, '15 Honda CTX700, '01 Honda CB600.

Coming back from Deals Gap on US129 The Tail Of The Dragon. '08 Kawasaki ZG1400, photo credit Killboy.

For those that don't know, the [Dragon](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K16YnmJN0fc) is 11.1 miles, 318 curves and no intersecting roads or driveways. If you ever find yourself within a reasonable distance, make a run across the Dragon or better yet ride the whole [Cherohala Skyway](https://cherohala.com/) Changes since that video. Pull offs have been greatly improved, trucks finally banned with harsh penalties, [Darryl and Lori Cannon (AKA Killboy and KillGurl)](https://www.killboy.com/) are riding again and now own Ron Johnson's store at Deals Gap.

The ID plate from the first ballistics computer I was taught to operate and maintain in the US Navy. Note the date of manufacture, I was on this system from '84-'89.

Commonly referred to as the Mark One Able. It took 5+ people to operate and all inputs were via hand cranks. This one was on a Garcia class Destroyer Escort/Fast Frigate. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_I_Fire_Control_Computer
