As of 2023, solar energy accounted for about 4.5% of China's total energy consumption.
In 2024 solar energy could account for around 5-6% of China's total energy consumption.
If they add another 170GW in 2025, the percentage could rise to approximately 6-7%.
They hope by 2026 solar will make up 8-9% of the total energy consumption.
If solar is the future then we are screwed because that isn't fast enough growth... and that is without factoring in the rest of the world who will hit nowhere near those numbers.

Yeah good shout, I just know certain fans/pundits don't like complicated rules so tried to keep it simple but your method is better.
-
Sorry, I think I was unclear... Above the end of the sleeve meaning on the sleeve is fine. I don't think that's the current rule as I've seen many recent decisions when they've given handball for the ball hitting the sleeve. If that's not the case, I refer back to #1.

VAR has the potential to make the game much better. The refs' interpretations of the subjective rules are the issue. The whole rulebook needs to be rewritten with the aim to eliminate grey areas.
-
Offside lines should be drawn from the back foot of the attacker. It was designed to stop goalhanging, not to penalise attackers who gain no advantage from being a centimetre offside.
-
This one I'm not even sure I agree with but here goes... Headers should be banned because repeated knocks to the head are not good. In exchange, anything above the sleeves of the shirt should not be classed as handball.

Whilst it's true solar is growing, it is not likely to be the silver bullet you make out.
Another way to look at the source you linked is that despite the ongoing climate catastrophe the US is still planning to add 4% more fossil fuel sources to their grid next year.
It also leaves out the fact that 84% of the current US power is generated by fossil fuels and that figure is not being reduced.
The source is also very US-centric. If we take the IEA's projections, only 25% of the world's new energy will be from renewable sources in 2024.
Then there's the weird choice of counting battery storage as energy generation. At the end of 2022 half of the battery storage was being powered by fossil fuels so should probably be left out of any statistics.
We need people to understand the true scale of the problem rather than generating more hopium. The energy companies have teams of people for that.

I think it means the electric field created within Earth's atmosphere that is responsible for lightning as opposed to the (electro)magnetic field which forms the magnetosphere around Earth and makes compasses work.

Why would you expect it to affect productivity when you were working the same number of hours?
It's just slightly increased flexibility under the guise of a 4 day week.

Guessing you might have been being rhetorical but I'll give my take anyway... The stabbings were just the spark that ignighted it all.
They do not have a common goal but they are united in thinking immigration levels are too high, despite it being a net benefit to the country. From what I've seen they generally fall into 3 groups:
-
EDL/BNP/facists/racists who have been whipping up anti-immigration rhetoric forever. Emboldened by extreme language used by Farage, successive Conservative governments and no doubt rhetoric from the convicted felon across the pond. They blamed the stabbings (and every problem ever) on immigrants despite the fact it was carried out by an autistic kid born in this country.
-
Brexit/Reform voters who see themselves as "more centrist" because they aren't as far-right as #1. They blame years of austerity, worstening living conditions and growing class divide on the idea "the country is full". They thought Brexit was supposed to solve this and are now protesting because it hasn't. They claim it wasn't done properly so voted Reform but got a more centrist government instead. They want to make their dissatisfaction heard but as far as I know do not condone the violence. They might now know the stabbings were not linked to migration but the issue has escalated beyond that incident now.
-
Young people who are generally not very well informed on any of the issues and have been fed misinformation on their various social media channels encouraging them to join the protests. It's the holidays, they are impressionable and angry. They think they're part of some revolutionary movement or just drunk and up for some chaos so are out with their mates filming it all in their phones for the views. I imagine as they become more informed they will align with #1 or #2.

Me: Here's the URL for the web service I've just deployed. I've set up users and permissions so just copy it into your browser and you should see a very similar system to what you've been trained on with all your data in there.
Customer: All I'm getting is a blank screen.
Much panicking and headscratching later...
Me: Waaaiiiiittt, did you press Return/Go after copying the URL?
Customer: That was not in the instructions.

From an outside perspective this seemed like quite a shrewd political move by Macron for once. Is that a fair assessment?

The scientific method itself considers any as yet unsubstantiated theory as hypothesis. Applying this to the idea of God would leave one agnostic on the issue.
A couple of prominent examples of religious dogmas disproved by scientific discoveries are the Copernican Revolution and evolution by means of natural selection.

So apparently I have a similar contorted expression to my mother when eating sour food.
My father always referred to this as my mother's-maiden-name-gene. Let's say her maiden name was Chaplin, he would say "Ah there's that Chaplin gene again!"
Being young I misunderstood this as a verb, ie. I was "chaplinging".
Cut to first year of school where I proudly waltz around informing any classmates eating fizzy sweets that the correct and proper term for their reaction is "chaplinging". It was a few years until the penny dropped.

So they've failed at pushing full return to office and now they're commissioning unscientific studies to try to make hybrid seem necessary?
These results really can't be applied to all jobs. Some jobs obviously require in-person but many white collar jobs can be done entirely remotely saving workers time, money and freeing up infrastructure for those that need/want to go in. Not to mention other benefits to mental health and reduction of emissions involved in commuting.

I have somewhat of a pet extension to projection theory... Many people who are anti-gay think that it is a choice as they themselves have made that choice. ie. They are repressed bisexual/gay.
Completely unsubstantiated with no evidence but I find it fun to think about as it would explain their complete misunderstanding of it not being a choice. "I made the tough choice and am living with it, why can't they?!"

Completely agree, requirements are key and often badly defined due to the customers' lack of knowledge of the intricacies of the system. You are correct to ask for clarity or it could come back to bite you later on.

Where I'm from people are way ruder than anything I said here so perhaps I misjudged the room. However, calling it out seems to have had the desired response as since posting OP went and apologised for his anger.

I responded suggesting maybe OP isn't suited to SQL in particular. There are plenty of other languages to learn that they might pick up quicker if they are struggling with SELECTs.

It's partially right but led OP down the wrong lines of thinking because it interpreted the prompt as a date field being missing rather than the field named date being missing.
Tbh I don't blame it too much here as there is kind of a base level of understanding requred to use it successfully.
I've bounced between Lemmy apps and have found Connect to be the best so far. I particularly like the swipe actions as they free up screen space for content. However I cannot find a way to downvote via swiping. Is the feature not available at present or is it hidden away somewhere in the settings?
The game is currently updating (earlier than usual I believe) and Man Utd official website accidently leaked the week of 3rd July. The website does not typically go live on a Monday so my guess would be prices being dripped out on Twitter towards the end of this working week with the game launching Tuesday 4th July. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it was around 2pm on a Tuesday last year.
Check your emails, seems like they might be looking for feedback as to what new features to implement for future seasons.
I thought it would be good to get a pre-season price prediction thread going ahead of the 2023/2024 season. I will attempt to list all teams and players. Please upvote prices that you think are sensible. If the price doesn't already exist, submit a comment in response to the the player's name with your predicted value. If it gets traction, this post could serve as an early indicator for potential bargains once the official price list is announced.
The Starfield preview got me hyped enough to finally cash in a big chunk of my points that I've been accumulating since the Series X was released. If anyone doesn't use [Microsoft Rewards](https://rewards.bing.com) I strongly recommend signing up. It doesn't take much effort to build them up. They are slowly nerfing the program so might as well take advantage while it lasts.
NoScript add-on is great for disabling any scripts running on a page. The user can view the domains the scripts are running from and enable them individually. At first it breaks every web page you visit but after a little time white-listing everything runs fine and it makes for much cleaner browsing.
