It's not an MLM or pyramid scheme; it is regular sales employment. You're not getting other people to sell them for you nor are you encouraged to find others looking to join the sales team. It just sucks dick because the pay is shit (and they go through hoops to pay you less or nothing; which is where the scam part comes in), they treat you like shit, and you have to basically sell them door-to-door.
It's stupid because the knives are great products; I still have my sample set because they actually rock. They just only sell them like Tupperware clubs and only market them via word of mouth. They'd be making bank if they just sold them to retailers instead of fucking with young people looking for their first job.

I sold cutco knives for a month.
If you're looking for a job, stay the fuck away from anything dealing with "CutCo" or "Vector Marketing."
Edit: Its not really a pyramid scheme... They just do everything they can to weasel out of giving you your paycheck on payday and because it's sales commission, I don't think they have to follow minimum wage laws since you're not paid hourly.
Unless they've seriously changed how it fundamentally works (this was when I was 18). They never encouraged or paid extra for getting others to sell for you, like a typical MLM thing.

When I was a kid, I would get in trouble getting those Columbia House offers where they advertise like 12 CDs for one cent; but then charge a subscription fee every month. So I'm not 100% sure what my first one was, because I got 12 of 'em at once.
I know that's how I discovered Silverchair though. I just picked out their album Frogstomp because I liked the picture of the frog. 🤣
I still like every track on that album. Especially given the shit today where Suicidal Dream is basically my anthem...

I planned on getting my dad a sound bar for his TV on his birthday because the TV he uses, the plastic grill over the speaker vibrates something fierce and it sounds like absolute garbage any time something with any amount of bass plays. But maybe I can just glue some rocks to it 🤔

I use an eLeaf battery. Er... I'm not sure the model anymore and it's not printed on the device. But it's lasted me for several years, unlike the cheap garbage you can pickup at a smoke shop or gas station.

If you truly want to see God, you need only look into a mirror. Humans are gods. We have the power of life and death. We can make the impossible possible. It just doesn't happen in the blink of an eye.

That's not untrue though... Putting rocks on your sound system could make the rocks vibrate against it and sound like utter shit.

Can't necessarily make it dumb, but you can change how the smart works without buying a whole new TV by getting something like a Roku stick or any other device similar that runs on android that you can then hack/modify to run side loaded apps and such to get around the bullshit built into the TV.
Of course if you're already planning on getting a new TV you could just get one that runs on Android already and do the same thing. Basically if it runs on Android, there are tons of tools to make it not suck all over GitHub.

When VD is running, even if not running a game, it is streaming your desktop still.
Why? Without a connection to stream to it shouldn't be doing shit. Note, I am talking about the VD Streamer app that runs on the PC, not the actual VR application itself. If the PC is running and the headset isn't even turned on, the streamer is using a ton of system resources when it shouldn't be doing anything.

I got a Quest 3 recently after having to give up my Quest 2 a year ago and I'm noticing that VD is using a lot of CPU power even when it's not actually doing anything. Is it encoding stuff even when there's nothing to send it to or what? I always have to close it when doing flat space stuff because it causes some slow down in games that already don't run great (like arma 3).

I've been waiting for this. Finally noticed the update today. Was going fine until I got a draw on the last fight in the first tournament thing and soft locked the game as it will not progress past the end result screen.
I was generous and built them a barn so they could sleep indoors but I noticed most of them never go through doors (probably cuz they're too big or I need stairs at the foundation) and just sleep outside on the ground. They're not gonna get pissed after a while are they?
Lemme see your transcripts, Doc. I ain't trusting my life to anything less than an A+, honor roll student.

I think BG3 already has the highest rating available, so I don't think it'd be affected.
It can go one higher (AO). They wouldn't want it to tho.
I was talking about bg3 and how a certain part could be changed to be much darker, and it occurred to me that it possibly could affect the rating of the game if they did (being vague purposely to avoid spoilers). But then I wondered "do things like that even have to be reviewed by the rating boards?" Because Larian has made a *lot* of changes like that to the game and I imagine it would be pretty ludicrous to have each and every one be reviewed to see if it fits within the current ESRB and PEGI ratings of the game.

I am playing the Steam version right now and I noticed that I have just 1 perpetually pissed off dwarf. Upon closer inspection, it's a child. Who is a sadist, always pissed off and stays away from the other children to get drunk all the time all because when he was, like, 3 years old he was almost mauled to death by a giant squirrel.

I didn't mean to imply it's not also concerning tech. I think it would fit in both spheres. Just commenting on the whole "stop making trans people political" notion, like the issue isn't and hasn't been political the entire time.

They're trying to make laws to hurt trans people, and it's a hot issue among the populace... That is the very definition of political.

Fully agree. Lots of jokes; they're not very funny, tho. IDK... Maybe it will get more interesting the further I get. I still wanna check out Neon (the cyberpunk city) and do deep space exploration (can't even get out there yet). I've been to a museum ran by the Starship Troopers faction that gives a ton of exposition on the lore and it was a chore to stay awake through all that.

With how many call backs, jokes and references I've seen in the main plot: it doesn't take itself too seriously. Half of the jokes have been directly related to the lack of dialogue options and having a silent protagonist.

I can get the sentiment about the combat being uninspired and a bit bland, and things being formulaic but... There is still something that draws me in. I really have no words for what it is, but somehow these games suck me in despite their problems and "boring" mechanics.

It doesn't exactly have the cyber part of cyberpunk. I wouldn't say that alien tech, especially that of an invading species humanity doesn't even know about, would count.

It's a skill, like concentration. It's used like concentration is, with it being checked when you're attacked during a performance for a buff or other bard spell you've cast that requires focus. The game does do this (like, it checks your performance skill when attacked while concentrating on a spell), but instead of actually showing your character playing continuously while having one of these spells cast, you just pick a song to play as a free action to just add flavor totally optionally. Now, in, say, Neverwinter Nights when you are concentrating on a skill, your character will play their instrument until they fail a check or the spell ends completely automatically.
Also: You can make money playing instruments. There is even an achievement to make so much.
So I saw this new option that would put suggestions into my already made playlists. I tried it; didn't like it because it kept mixing my normal music with my sleep music. I turned off the setting, but it still keeps blending suggestions into my playlists. How the hell do I stop it? 😩

So I was talking to the Githyanki queen, but something didn't sit right with me. She asked me to do something I'm pretty sure is bad, and she *is* seemingly communicating through a hologram or something. So I said "you're a god. You do it." And then pressed further, thinking it was a deception. Nope. I got literally wished out of existence by an angry god. Lmao
Only I and Lae'zel dont have darkvision, but I can cast Light. However, when I cast on myself nothing happens. When I cast on Lae'zel, she lights up the area. What gives?
With how old school this game does some shit, and how I've been dicking about I am slightly worried I will hit a hidden time limit, like in Fallout 1 before I even attempt to dive into the main quest. I'm not just gonna turn squidy all of sudden and end my game if I take too long, am I?
So before I end my turn, I always start jamming on my lute, standing over the body of the bugbear I just slaughtered.
I have just a single physical copy of a game, and I've just been leaving the disc in the console; but after seeing a few videos about older consoles and noticing the console slows down while the disc is being read I'm curious if there is danger to the disc, or the console or even if I could get a bit of a performance gain by removing it when not playing that specific game.
IDK why but the app isn't logging me in today. I also seem to be having issues logging into some instances through the website, but I'm not getting any errors or anything. It just goes like it's working but then when the page reloads, I'm not logged in. Took me like 15 tries just to get to the create post button. The weird thing is I can still access my profile, I just can't view my subscriptions or make posts because I'm not logged in. Usually if I'm not logged in, I can't see my profile either. 🤨 Don't know if the issue is the app or the service itself.
How am I supposed to earn them if I don't even know what they expect me to do for them? Why do these exist? I haven't even encountered a game (not even a Fromsoft game, and those guys are notorious for being vague and not forthcoming with info even for guide books) where the hidden achievements were not already listed by a 3rd party somewhere outside of the game day 1, so why not just show them in the damn game?
I just noticed that even though I was looking at and logged in through my Lemmy.World account, I would sometimes be posting/commenting as another account on another instance. All these posts will say "via <instance name>" next to the original location of the post. It doesn't make much sense to me that it will use an account for a separate instance when I already have one signed in for the origin post, but idk if this is maybe a stability thing to just keep things running smoothly? 🤷🏻♂️
I understand how to code... To an extent. I know syntax and can solve problems given a set of tools (such as source code, functions, etc). I've made mods and basic programs (literally and figuratively), but I've never messed with internet stuff other than networking and mostly on the hardware side. I don't expect to make anything that will catch on, but maybe I can make a perfectly adapted thing for my own personal use. Would it be a good learning experience, or would jumping from modding and making, like, a DnD character sheet generator into making a front end for a website/service be a bit of an undertaking?
I was thinking this app was perfect and may end up being my RIF replacer; but I need my inbox and notifications. 😬
I just wanted to find something using the Dewey Decibel system 🤷🏻♂️
