I don't agree with most of these comments, except for the swipe down with two fingers. But it still looks like it's early in development, and it'll be a while until Android 16. I don't think they'd make a two finger gesture the only way to access quick settings, especially from an accessibility standpoint. They'll probably change it.
Current stock android quick settings suck. So much wasted space. Changing some settings is inconvenient. It looks quite bad, especially the brightness slider. And editing the tiles is currently extremely slow, difficult and janky.
This change improves the looks. The number of tiles per page is changed from 8 to 12/16. Toggling WiFi or Bluetooth on/off will now take only one tap instead of three. Editing tiles looks smooth and easy.
This isn't change for the sake of change, this is a fix for one of Android's weakest points.

Forest is a simple step counter that shows you the steps you did today, with a little extra info.
Doable is a tasks/reminders app. It's not the most feature rich, and notifications are only in beta, but I love the design and it does what I need well.
Data Monitor shows you how much data you've used in your current plan, and you can see which apps use the most data (or wifi).
Quillpad for notes.
LibreOffice Viewer lets you open word documents and the like.
Squawker lets you open Twitter links more privately, and even follow users to see all of their posts, but requires you log in with an account.
Breezy Weather is a really nice weather app.

Sideloading is quite bad. If you're in the EU, I know you can use AltStore PAL, which costs money (~€1.50 a year), but all you'll be getting is emulators, virtual machines, clipboard managers, and torrent clients.
There is another method for sideloading that works anywhere and lets you download modified apps, but it is very limited, tedious, and probably insecure. I've done it, it's not worth it. Better to stay on android or use a browser with adblock or something.
I don't think iOS has any specific limits to do with NSFW stuff, I've never heard of anything anyways.
Pirating games is probably not going to be worth it either since you have to sideload apps with the second method.
Other types of piracy are probably fine. If you have AltStore PAL you can get a torrent client and an emulator.

Microsoft was claiming that the data would be inaccessible to hackers (which is not true).
Signal claimed the exact opposite: that once it's on your computer, messages can be seen by malicious programs on your computer.
Signal was caught having less than ideal security. Microsoft was caught lying.
NicoCharrua 3 months ago • 100%
You can only do that for your own messages though. I'm guessing the messages from the prostitutes would be more than enough for the wife to notice.
Also I think the window is longer than 3 hours. Maybe a day?
NicoCharrua 3 months ago • 100%
Signal also has a similar problem. If you choose the "delete for me" option, it only deletes it on one device and leaves it on the others, last time I checked.
He would have to set up disappearing messages aswell.

I didn't know that was a controversial opinion? Do you think that Apple are as bad as Google or Meta in terms of privacy?
Apple does have privacy violations, but the things I've seen them get caught doing are minor compared to the things that many other companies do openly.
The main point of the article you've linked is that Apple put the equivalent of a "Do not track" option in a browser, and it did exactly the same of a "Do not track" option in a browser (nothing). Does that mean that any browser with a DNT request option is bad for privacy?
Adding an option that is somewhat misleading isn't ideal, but it's incomparable to something like Cambridge analytica incident, or the tracking that Google put basically everywhere on the Internet.
By the way, I am in no way defending Apple. I'm just saying that everything that Apple does, companies like Google and Meta also do, just ten times over.
I believe an iPhone is way better than a Pixel for privacy, even if both are far from ideal. I'd love to be proven wrong, tho.

Doesn't necessarily have to be the same. Afaik the signal protocol is for sending messages, not for transferring backups of chats.
Whatsapp actually lets you back up all your chats, unencrypted, to Google Drive or iCloud. Definitely not the same as Signal.

you can't move that account somewhere else.
That means you can migrate between servers and keep all your friends and followers, something that's currently not possible in the Fediverse.
It absolutely is possible to move accounts between instances on the fediverse. I've done it multiple times.
It does have some quirks tho. Posts aren't migrated to your new account. (Some fedi software lets you migrate posts, but from what I hear it's kinda jank).
It's not seamless, but the option is there, and you won't lose any friends or followers (unless they're defederated or something)
Bluesky accounts seem like they'll be more portable than fediverse accounts but I don't know much about it

There are ads on the app store, which I'd consider to be part of the "primary operating system", especially since it's the only way to install apps.
Not to mention constant ads for icloud. In the photos app, and even notifications from the settings app. (It's possible to turn these off, but not easy or intuitive).
After switching to Android, I haven't seen a single ad in the operating system, (I think Play Store does have ads, I just haven't got any for some reason). The closest thing is Google photos sometimes asking me to turn on backup.

Not actually how it works. There's two options. One of them has the notifications in the "dead space", but the content never gets eaten up.
(Pinging @EdibleFriend@lemmy.world , just in case you didn't know about this!)
I wouldn't use this myself. Most apps are designed so content fits underneath the camera hole so nothing gets eaten, and even if it does get eaten, the camera is so small that it's not an issue for me

See what? Posts from threads? Depends on your instance and how you browse.
Lemmy has no microblogging features so you won't be seeing any (unless they're specifically posting to Lemmy)
Kbin I'm not too sure since there are microblogging features but idk how they work.
Mastodon; you will see posts from threads users if you follow them, or if someone you follow boosts a post from them.
If you browse by the explore/posts tab, you might see some threads posts. Also from the 'All'/federated tab.
You'll be able to block threads for your account, or choose an instance that's defederated.

Your feed will either be the same as before, or better than before.

What do you mean discovery feeds? Like the federated/all tab?
Because those feeds only show posts that the instance knows about, which is (mostly) posts from people that at least one person on your instance followed.
If you check the all tab on a small instance, it's a lot quieter than it is on something like mastodon.social.

*Thank you to Reddit [u/Thunder9191133](https://reddit.com/user/Thunder9191133) for [this post](https://reddit.com/r/celestegame/comments/xwjz0p/glitch_to_get_into_grannys_house/) where I originally found how to do this glitch.* It's possible to glitch into grannie's house in Epilogue by skipping the cutscene at the same time that Madeline starts to walk into the house. Here's the most consistent way I found to do it: 1. Go to Epilogue, and climb up the step to the left of Madeline. 2. After she climbed up, hold left and almost immediately pause. If Madeline walks into the house, you paused too late. Restart chapter and try again. If you pause the game and see 'Retry', you paused too early. Retry and try again. 3. If you pause the game and see 'Skip Cutscene', you did it! Now you can skip the cutscene, and you'll be in the house (but the cutscene will still be playing). 4. Pause again, and press Retry. That's it. Have fun in grannie's house! ![Video showing the glitch](https://files.catbox.moe/xg7cmt.WEBP) For some reason you can't grab or walljump on the walls of her house. There's not much to do in there, but it's interesting that it's possible. Feel free to try it yourself! It will probably take a few tries, but it's not too difficult.
I just played this mod with a friend a few days ago, and it's pretty fun! It's a multiplayer level where one person plays as Madeline who can dash, and the other plays as Theo who has a grappling hook ability. You help each other through screens, for example by moving blocks or pressing buttons. It's online, so there's a bit of delay, but it works better than I expected! The different abilities for Madeline and Theo make the gameplay a lot more interesting than if it was just 2 Madelines. I recommend checking it out, even if just to see what it's like. *Last updated 27 Aug* Clicking Lemmy links usually brings you to the original instance of the link, which means you won't be able to interact (vote/comment). It also means it'll open in a browser instead of an app. Luckily, for some apps, there's a better way to open links. The method in this post will work on Eternity, Sync, Liftoff, Summit, and partially Jerboa. ## Eternity (Infinity) When you see a Lemmy link, share it with the Infinity app, then tap 'Handle Link'. That's it. To get links to open fully automatically, go to App Info > Open by default > Add link. (This won't work with all Lemmy links, only about 60 instances). ## Sync, Liftoff, Summit, & Jerboa 1. Download the Lemmy Redirect app: [IzzyOnDroid](https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/index/apk/dev.zwander.lemmyredirect) [GitHub](https://github.com/zacharee/MastodonRedirect) 2. Go into the Lemmy Redirect app, and tap 'Main' next to the app you use. Now when you see a Lemmy link, share it and open it in Lemmy Redirect. It should open in the app you chose. ## More info * On Jerboa, links to communities will work, and posts from your own instance will work. Posts from other instances will not. * Sync, Summit, and Jerboa have an option in App Settings > Open by default, to open links fully automatically, but this will only work with some instances (~60 in Jerboa, 51 in Sync, 14 in Summit). * Eternity also works with Lemmy Redirect but the other method is easier. ## Opening Automatically Lemmy Redirect has the option to open all Lemmy links fully automatically by either: * Using Shizuku * Manually adding all 1,500 links (Not recommended) * Using LinkSheet ([IzzyOnDroid](https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/index/apk/fe.linksheet)) ([GitHub](https://github.com/1fexd/LinkSheet)) ## Other Apps For other apps, I couldn't find an easy way to do it, but there is a more annoying way to do it: 1. Copy the Lemmy link. 2. Go to your instance's search bar in a browser, and paste the link. The post should show up in a way you can interact with. 3. If you really need to you can save the post and open it in an app. *That's it. If you think anything in this post should be updated, let me know!*

I think [the admins are doing some stuff](https://lemmy.ca/comment/623514), and when I use Adguard DNS using Lemmy from this instance just gives me errors. If someone's having the same problem, try setting your DNS server to the default setting, that fixed it for me. I tried using both `dns.adguard.com` and `dns.adguard-dns.com` but neither of them worked. I've never had a website block me because of my DNS server before, I didn't even know it was something they can see.
My favorite in the main game is The Summit, I really like the music and the double dashes. My favorite modded level would probably be Paint in Strawberry Jam. There are so many small secrets and details to find, and the art and custom mechanics are great. The music also syncs with the music, which is amazing.
