This is near Lifepod 19, where I found a time capsule next to the pod. Then I turned around and was surprised by finding three more in one place! ::: spoiler spoiler I hope all these survivors could pay their bills and actually return to earth... :::
Deep Rock seriously needs to invest in better personnel.

Heroic Games Launcher and Lutris also support Proton versions, since some games run best with them. But most games simply run with the latest version of Wine or Proton respectively.

Had the same issue on 2 devices with 2 different distros, it went away by itself after around an hour.

Thank you for this! Good luck everyone.

If you do a quick web search, you can find 5 years old reddit posts that link to the exact same github of d07RiV that is first mentioned in the article. So I suppose DevilitionX will be around for the same amount of time.

This is old news, it's working for over 5 years now.

I like the idea of immutable distros a lot, but I realised they are not for me, at least not now.
I couldn't install global themes because the SDDM is immutable. There is a workaround, but it didn't work 100% for me.
I couldn't get Steam to put shortcuts on the desktop (it's a known thing, simply I didn't know it). It only worked with Bazzite which comes with Steam preinstalled. But then I couldn't edit these shortcuts (for example: -silent) because if I did, they would vanish.
Then I experimented with Waydroid. There was something I wanted to test but couldn't use the online advice because Bazzite/Aurora doesn't have dnf for example.
There were other little things I'm used to tinker on my system and couldn't so I realised, I wanna stick with other distros for the moment.

Mine is set to expire: Expires / Max-Age:"Fri, 23 Aug 2024 06:40:27 GMT" - so that's in 7 days. Great find though!

Yes I assumed that WebGL was the culprit :). And I totally agree with you, especially when the content is about surveillance.

Interesting, thanks! Never heard of Nitrux before.
Yes that's true. I just realised that I apparently tinker too much to use an immutable distro as of now. But I'm definitely keeping an eye on them.

Yes of course, that's always an option. I was just trying to look over my Mint horizon and check out other distros and how they work. Exciting!

Possibly, but I'm wondering why it's only affecting Lemmy then? (I'm using Librewolf that's based on Firefox)

I like that article, I'm in a similar position at the moment. I've been using Mint on my Nvidia machine for a long time now, but with the new Mint 22 update that's also based on Ubuntu 24.04, I'm facing similar issues and so I've done some distrohopping over the past couple of weeks. I've tried Aurora/Bazzite and Nobara as Fedora based distros, Garuda and CachyOS as Arch based ones, OpenSUSE Tumbleweed and probably something else I can't remember right now. All of them were great distros but had certain flaws that were offputting somehow. And I'm in no rush, since Mint 21.3 is still supported for a while.
I'm still open to suggestions what to try next! I'm getting faster and faster with fresh installs :)

No not at all, I just said that because I'm often under the impression that many people never search before posting and it sometimes annoys me so I try not to make the same mistake :D. I still miss the old forum days where we had that Bart Simpson meme.
Thanks for piecing it together, it might be a problem for more users, I'm relieved to read it's not only happening to me!

"Browser not supported" - weird choice not to support hardened browsers like Librewolf.

Thanks! I was searching for posts before I posted but hadn't found that post.
Edit: that post suggests to clear cookies - I've tried that twice on two machines, same problem still.

Refreshing logs me out when I'm logged in and does nothing when I'm logged out.
Kory 1 month ago • 100%
I used to have it from time to time too, but now it's every single time and that's inconvenient.
I have an account on lemmy.ml and two days ago it started logging me out of the website whenever I close the browser tab or browser. This behaviour does not occur on other websites where I choose to stay logged in. So my browser functionality is working as intended. Has anything changed on Lemmy, cause it used to work for years? Anything I can do?

Not sure about that popularity comment, it's also available on Windows and I know of many people who have been using it for years instead of the crappy Epic Store. And yes, it works great for GOG.

Bummer, it worked for me, but not without some trial and error. I agree with you, it should be easier to do it.

You simply add the Firefox profile to Librewolf and everything's there.

The game itself was for me mid - not good not bad, but the ending? I can't believe no one mentioned it yet, that was the most impressive ending I've experienced in a game ever. Without spoilers, for those who played it, the piano notes and then darkness, I couldn't believe it, it was so good.

Thank you, that's very helpful. I will have to think about it - it comes down to a question of convenience vs. "best" security possible.
Kory 2 months ago • 100%
Oh yes, that's entirely my own fault. I first installed Aurora, then Steam as Flapak and later rebased to Bazzite. It was all just for trying stuff out, on my main machine, the install will be clean.

Oh I think I've found my answer, it was about SELinux being disabled. Now it says on their official website: "SELinux:
– We have replaced SELinux with AppArmor (AppArmor is used in Ubuntu and OpenSUSE) as we find it to be more user-friendly, less intrusive, and easier to write policies for. You will still see some SELinux packages as they are required to keep Fedora compatibility and not break package dependencies."

I am very interested in what you are saying. I've been trying Bazzite for a while now and I ran into some quirks I couldn't resolve - tiny stuff, that's mainly a small inconvenience like not being able to put icons on the desktop with Steam due to it being Flatpak and Valve not having enabled that specific option) -
BUT -
I've also tried Nobara then was kinda put off by people saying something along the lines, that GE disabled some security features for better performance (and since it was a distro for personal use at first) and I tried to search for the details, but came up empty. Could you say a bit more about this or where I could find more info, please? Cause I'm using my distro as daily driver and not only for gaming, so it got me worried a little.

Mint doesn't have you do anything. If offers Steam in their Software Manager (system package), like I said. I was simply relaying experiences from other users who recommend the .deb for it having the least problems of all methods.

1- Did you see this issue on Github? https://github.com/linuxmint/nemo/issues/3270 - maybe there is a solution in there.
2- How did you install Steam? On the official forums lots of people reported problems when having it installed via Flatpak or Mint system package. Best practice is to install it via the .deb file from https://store.steampowered.com/about/.

Thank you for this. I think it's good practice not to post plain codes but to obfuscate them in some way so that they are not snatched by bots. Not sure if this a big problem on Lemmy though.
I'm looking for a FOSS image viewer on Linux that remembers the last visited image or lets me set a bookmark of some sort. Pix for example has the preference "Go to last visited location" - but that is just the folder, not the image itself. But I have folders with lots and lots of images that I work through day by day and it's tedious to find the one where I left off at the previous day. Or is there another way of doing it that I'm just not thinking of? Edit: BIG facepalm moment: I usually open the respective folder to continue working on my files. But if I simply open Pix, it remembers exactly where I left off last time. So it actually does what I was looking for, I was just not using it correctly. Thanks for all the recommendations though.
I know there are other ways of accomplishing that, but this might be a convenient way of doing it. I'm wondering though if Reddit is still reverting these changes?
Apologies that this is not a pure gaming question, but I'd really like to hear people's opinion on the Borderlands movie trailer and especially from people who have played the games. That's why I'm asking here, I hope that's ok.
I really like the non-FOMO-part with the amor!

Let's talk about fashion for a minute, please. I've realised, I'm spending quite a bit of time looking at Accessories ingame and on the wiki page. That reminded me of good old TF2 times when I did the same thing and put quite some effort into making my chars the most ridiculous looking. I might see a pattern here... - Are you also into dwarven fashion? - What are your favourite Accessories? - How do you feel about not being able to "craft" Accessories or be able to get items from past events?-
This has been given away before, so some of you might have it already.
I'm quite new to the game so I have only played a few Hazard 4 missions so far, but I seem to struggle quite a bit there. I take too much damage and can't seem to keep up with killing enough bugs. My question is, once you have unlocked the guns/equipment, there is nothing else to get "stronger" right? I mean apart from some Overclocks perhaps? So is it only a "git gud" thing, or is there any advice how to go about these harder difficulties? Edit: Thank you all for your great advice! I've played through the Assignment "New Hazard Level: Lethal" and the recent Deep Dive without any real trouble. Rock and Stone!
The soundtrack add-on is also free.
