You would get the intended effect, but layering multiple coats of varnish risks making the whole thing a little cloudy and obscuring details. If you really wanted to do this I would hand paint both matt and glossy areas. But I also think that messing with sheen doesn't look very nice. I like to matt varnish everything.

Unbelievably cluttered. I have a similar set up but put everything in a cabinet next to the desk. Get another piece of furniture and offload everything but the monitor and keyboard somewhere else. Clean spaces make for uncluttered minds. I am a huge minimalist though.

I work in this sector. I think part of the reason is that it sometimes behooves these programs to be a bit under the radar. People generally only keep hens when you have just a few chickens in the backyard. Roosters don't lay eggs and they crow loudly all day, so if you're just interested in having a few animals for eggs roosters don't help much. Roosters can help protect the flock from predators.

I almost never have to mess with it once I got it running. Very occasionally I have to turn off blocking for a minute to access a website that is being served by an ad server, but this is easy. There is a web interface that you can use on your phone web browser with an option to pause blocking for 30 seconds or 5 minutes.

It has never broken or had a bad update or something and blocked my whole Internet. Good reliable set up and forget software. Been running it for years.
