The world is bigger than the US. My point remains.. Don't spread the false narrative that you can't grow your own in a small abode. Thanks.

Not all apartments are rented. Am not against the sale or purchase; just the mis-information that you cant grow it yourself in a small apartment.
BeardyGrumps 1 month ago • 100%
It's completely possible in apartments. Tent, light and air extractor connected to hepa filter removes majority of the smell. A small tent (60cm x 60cm x 1.2m) manages a plant or two.

Then just subscribe for that month and then cancel. We switch around from all of them; one month netflix, next month HBO, apple the next, etc... Don't understand why people keep the subscriptions when they dont use the service...

Many many thanks! First time I have won a photo competition. Lovely to be a member of such talented people and love this little corner of the internet.
Heavy snow over the past few days in South Germany. Temperatures down to minus 15 degrees but perfectly blue skies and stunning landscapes for those that brave the cold.

Epson Ecotank happy as a pig in shit user here. Bought it 5 years ago, still going strong. No bullshit cartridges just fill the tanks with ink and off it goes. Yes you don’t a little more for the printer but it pays off the first refill.

There is a lot of "I voted Brexit and now admit my mistake" kind of sentiment going around at the moment. I saw a youtube video of a pensioner who basically drove around Europe in his caravan, staying 9 months a year in Spain who voted for Brexit. He was now saying what a mistake it was; but here's the rub.. The twat was not sorry for the damage that he had caused to the economy or the youth of the UK. All he was concerned about was the effect that it was having on him; the selfish prick! Upset that his caravan needed to be sold as he could only travel 90 days out of 180 and so it had doubled his living costs and how he and his friends vans were now worth a fraction of what they were as no-one wants them due to the restrictions.
Fuck him and fuck the others like him. Self pitying selfish pricks who are reaping what they sewed.
My heart bleeds for the youth and those that voted no to Brexit. The ones that vote leave deserve everything they get and more! Fuck 'em.
Rant over...

Hi! That very kind of you and I am pleased, as an amateur hobby photographer l, that someone gets pleasure from my ‘pratting about’. Thank you for taking the time to post! It’s the small gestures that often give the most. :-)

Because it’s cheaper for them. Building all the cars the same simplifies production and inventory management. They don’t have to configure each car for the end users requirements; they just use software to turn these features on.
The question that should be asked is if they can put these features into the car and still make a profit why are these added features so expensive as all the fees are 100% profit!

Then why not say every rouble made in Russia will go to humanitarian aid? I’ll tell you why; it’s because they are still making money by being in Russia. It’s corporate greed through and through. These fuckers make no sacrifice until it hurts their bottom line.

Thank you. We took many images during the shoot but this one stood out for its uniqueness. A happy accident. :-)
As some may have realised I like enjoy all forms of photography but find myself drawn towards the more abstract. This is a water drop shot taken a while ago. I must admit this is actually my sons capture; we were playing with the drop settings and he got this one.

Been using Plex for years as bought the Plex lifetime deal when it was on offer many many moons ago. Is jellyfin any better? (My biggest concern with Plex is that they have a list of all my content I believe so not happy about that).
Should add use a nvidia shield with an external hard drive with all the content on it and stream to other android devices (fire sticks).

These guys piss me off so much.
My mum was a cleaner at a hospital. She then worked her way up to the cleaning manager. My childhood is filled with memories of her colleagues who were her friends. She didn’t need to work as my dad had a good job; she did it to support me and my brother through studies and university.
She taught me to respect people. Their profession is irrelevant; everyone deserves respect and acknowledgment. It was single handedly the best lesson that a parent can give and one that I have adhered to all my life.
I am on first name terms with all the service personnel where I live and work. I always give thanks to them and leave gifts at Christmas/birthdays, etc to show my appreciation. When a waiter fills my glass or takes my plates a simple Thank-you is the least we can say.
Thanks to my mum working I came through university with little debts and have climbed the heights of the corporate ladder. You would not believe the number of times my peers have pulled me up for what I consider common curtesy with comments like “you don’t need to thank them; it’s their job”. You know what… fuck those guys; if am at a business lunch with a potential supplier and they treat the staff like shit the deal is off the table. Have even blocked hires if I hear they are disrespectful to the secretaries or security staff.
We have not walked in other peoples shoes and have no idea what they have gone through. Until they disrespect you or you beliefs everyone deserves your respect.
End of rant.. :-)

Deleted all my comment and post history from there when I was directed to Lemmy. Zero regrets. Have not looked back. Find the engagement here far better; proper discussions without the trolls. Loving it.. Also tried Mastodon and enjoying that too even though I never used twitter.
Used to spend hours each day on Reddit and was active contributor on the subreddits I subscribed to. Hoping we get some of the less popular and specialised communities here so we all got to make an effort to support the smaller ones by posting and commenting.

Sure. I used a lightbox with a blackout curtain (sound flasher than it really is; it's a cheap foldable plastic lightbox that has a few coloured inserts and led lights around the side and top. (I paid about 15€ for it). I put in the black felt insert as not to get any external reflections. You could do the same with a carboard box with the inside painted black). Placed the tablet inside (Was an iPad mini thing) and put some images on full brightness and full screen.
I used a Sony A7 iii camera with a Sony 90mm Macro lens on a tripod. As I wanted the bulb to fill the frame I was quite close to the subject and wanted everything in focus so stopped right down to F20, ISO 100 and exposed for the blacks which gave me an exposure time of 6 seconds. (I am sure the same kind of results could be achieved with a more open aperture and less exposure but I didn't have a whole lot of time.)
I increased the luminosity and saturation in lightroom and lowered the shadows to make it "pop". Then spent twenty minutes removing all the dust spots.
Hope this helps!

Thank you for your kind words.
Took a colour changing lightbulb and put it into a sealed empty Pringles can. Suspended this from a frame by the power cable. Made a small hole in the Pringles can for the light to come through. Pointed camera upwards and took a long exposure of the swinging can whilst changing the colour of the lightbulb using the remote. Really happy the way it turned out. (Was the third attempt after trying with laser pens, etc.) It really simple to set up and you can generate a lot of different effects.
Original was black and white and required restoration. Would be interested to know the location. Colourised in Photoshop.
Hi, I created a new community on lemmy.world called vintagephotos. Since this morning am unable to upload images. WHen selecting an image I get a red box at the bottom left of the screen with the following text: SyntaxError: Unexpected token '<', "<html> <h"... is not valid JSON I am trying via the lemmy.world site in edge browser. Have also tried using the wefwef.app and get an error but no description. Just reporting the error. :o)
Found my grandfathers photo album from the war. He was stationed in India for servers years serving with the Lincolnshire Regiment as a Signaller. He returned able to speak fluent Urdu. The albums is about 30 pages and contains many images of his travels including the Kyber pass and war camps.
