[High res image](https://protosparky.uk/cdn/astro2/1.jpg) [Original Post](https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/post/16197074) This time i set up my old dslr and a tripod for the shooting, and i shot 70 30s frames. It seems like there's a problem with sharpness, but im not sure if its because i lack a star tracker, the lens was slightly out of focus, or because of atmospheric wobble. Here's some behind the scene images: ![](https://protosparky.uk/cdn/astro2/3.jpg) The camera is a nikon D5100, a low/midrange camera from almost 14 yeas ago mounted to a cheap tripod. The white box on top of said camera is the battery which i made from 2 old powerbanks because im a cheapass and couldnt be asked to buy a proper one :) I saw the nothern lights too! ![](https://protosparky.uk/cdn/astro2/2.jpg)
Hi guys! I'm just a newbie in a way, that some years ago inherited a Nikon DX D7100 with a rather good Nikkor zoom 18-200mm VR (I understand it's the first one, as they might have re-released it at later stages). I played with it for quite a while and took some really good pictures, but at this point it's rather cumbersome to pack in the luggage, together with the drone as well. I'm considering a smaller mirrorless camera perhaps, so I can have something easier to carry around during a hike/tour/scooter ride. However, I would like to keep the portability with the zoom to some degree, as I really love how easily it made to frame subjects and get really good pics. Would you guys have recommendations for cameras (Nikon or not-Nikon), that can fit a Nikon lens with/without some adapter? Just in case this is a DX lens, not full frame, AFAIK (but I wouldn't mind some...vignetting, or digitally/automatically cropping the picture after the fact, if needed).
Taken ~15 minutes after sunrise, across the Columbia River from Vantage, Washington, with a Pixel 8 Pro.
[High res image](https://protosparky.uk/cdn/astro1/1.png) I took about 30 raw 30s exposures from my phone propped up on the roof, stacked them with deep sky stacker, and I'm impressed at the result.
Shot with a 18-55mm lens on a Fujifilm X-Pro 1. Edited and converted RAW in camera, then slightly adjusted the Jpeg in Darkroom.
Some negative space and symmetry, on a square in the Netherlands. Feel free to critique.

I highly recommend listening to these two talking about photography and stuff in general. I'm not a big podcast person but there's something special about this one, IMO.
Got up at 5:45, rode my bicycle to the nearest forest, put up my hammock and got this shot =)
I am looking for a new backpack for every day carry where I always want my camera gear with me (a DSLR, a filter and a couple of extra lenses). I am looking at the [Ramverk Pro Backpack (26L)](https://se.dbjourney.com/products/ramverk-pro-backpack-26l-black-out) with their [small camera insert](https://se.dbjourney.com/products/ramverk-camera-insert-s-black-out). I like: * The simplicity * The design * The large main compartment * Being able to simply add or remove all camera gear by adding or removing the camera insert I don't like: * No water bottle holder * No quick access to camera * To few images showcasing the insert in the bag Do any of you have this setup? Do you like it? Would you recommend something else?
Shot on a Pixel 8 Pro, telephoto lens. Tahoma is more commonly known by the coloniser name of [Mount Rainier](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Rainier).
Just a nice snapshot I made with a phone.

Canon R5 w/ 70-200mm f/2.8
I dont think it's focussed that well, but hey, what can you do. Shot with: Canon EOS 700D • idk 1/200? •Auto ISO • f/4 • 210mm + Full-Frame to APS-C crop factor
Taken on iPhone 12, so nothing special, and not recent (as evident by the snow capped mountains). I still come back to this as my favorite picture. I have quite a few CA nature photos that I’ve had the privilege of taking, but this is my favorite.
