Userscripts are more portable than extensions. There's also basically no reason for this to be an extension, what features does being an extension provide which this would benefit from?
It's definitely fine to collaborate, just make an issue/PR here: https://gitlab.com/azzurite/lemmy-universal-link-switcher

I usually keep stuff to seed until 3.0 ratio or longer if I'm keeping the files. If it's just taking really long and I need the drive space at 1.0 or even earlier. That should be ok right?

It's important to note that the default state of people is being dumb. It takes effort, exposure and more qualities/circumstances during a person's early years to not be dumb.
Many people just didn't grow up in an environment that allows that, it's actually a quite specific one that doesn't happen automatically.
And once the early life phase is over, mental plasticity is a lot lower, so very very few people go from "dumb" to "not dumb".
If you want to be less dumb, I can really recommend https://lesswrong.com/rationality

What people don't get is that when someone is called a Nazi, it doesn't necessarily mean that they literally identify completely with Nazi ideology.
Rather it is about the pattern of behavior that is equivalent to the Nazi pattern of behavior.
For that to be true, people do not need to, for example, hate and want to kill Jews. "Jews" could be replaced by anything else, for example trans people, and it's still valid to call them a Nazi.
If one does not want to be called a Nazi, maybe don't try to get rid of a group of people that haven't done anything bad.

Yeah as I noticed it became bigger than just a simple few functions I had to do some actual software development :D
Did just split it up into separate files with a build step at the end compiling the actual userscript.

For example, it'd be nice for anyone that looks at/finds https://lemmit.online/c/dota2 to also find that https://discuss.tchncs.de/c/dota2 or https://lemmy.world/c/dota2 is an actual community that corresponds to that with user content, not bot content. I'm sure there's lots of equivalents for other communities as well where that would make sense.

Pretty smart, convenient for the customer and less work for the devs as issues are sure to be overlooked.
I'm only noticing this on tchncs. The couple first posts on the "Hot" "Subscribed/All" sorts on tchncs seem to be "normal" hot posts, but after around 15 of those there are only weeks/months/years old posts. ![](https://images.azzurite.tv/uploads/original/47/f2/2d08d6959b2c89a7b98714eee170.webp) I searched for issues on the repo and I found this which may have been applicable: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/3125 However, it was fixed for 0.18, which tchncs is running, and theoretically [`update_hot_ranks` should be a startup job](https://github.com/sunaurus/lemmy/blob/8ee0e126f0a8625fc671591638f4c48c33823fa8/src/scheduled_tasks.rs#L89), which I assume happened when updating. Can something be done about this? Maybe cross-post this to [lemmy_support@lemmy.ml](https://lemmy.ml/c/lemmy_support) (though this should probably be done by our friendly admin)?

It only really matters for the "local" feed which instance you choose. I don't really see much point to that one honestly, except if you're on something like startrek.website where "local" is "show me all star trek stuff", or something similar.
And yes, it is important to spread out the user base across multiple servers and not all end up on lemmy.world.
So I'd say find some smaller instance, maybe with a community actually physically local to you, and make that your main one. Or don't and stay on lemmy.world, I'm not your dad.
Perpetual plug to my userscript which changes all links to point to your home instance to make this even easier :)

Ah yes of course, a few people living off donations are supposed to outperform a multi billion dollar corporation in amount of features and polish within features.
The protocol doesn't matter. Look at lemmy vs kbin. Kbin has "extended" features like microblogs & different UI. There's plenty of people that like those features and thus are using kbin over Lemmy.
Just imagine kbin were much more attractive than Lemmy. More people would start signing up there. More people start "microblogging". Maybe there'll be other features introduced, and Lemmy can't keep up with the nice things being added.
One day kbin decides not to federate with Lemmy at all anymore. Most people are on kbin at this point, Lemmy doesn't have the same quality/amount of features. Now the average user has a choice: do they care about kbin being asses and leave kbin? No, of course not, not if the features really are nicer.
Now replace kbin with Facebook. Or Google, that's exactly what they did with XMPP.
The only thing that is able to save from the triple E attack is the users actually caring enough about open platforms and deciding to not use the non-open ones. Or actually having more resources than Facebook, good luck with that.

Because setup is easier, Docker basically sets up a completely new environment for the app to live in mostly isolated from your main system, so all the stuff you installed on your system has no effect on it.

You could use Firefox on mobile and use ublock origin to auto-block images & third-party content by default, then it doesn't use almost any bandwidth. I'd imagine jerboa uses similar amounts since it also displays images without any data saver settings as I can see.

Weird, you seem to be having a completely different experience from me. Maybe because of "be better with hacks like changing the power setting"? I never considered this a hack, I just use like a middle to low power setting on the dial, arrange the food evenly on the plate, set it in there for 5 minutes or so and everything's basically the exact same again as if I had just cooked it.
Even chicken. I mean sure, if you blast it full force and heat it up to more than consuming temperature (40°C/100°F) of course it will dry out, but you can just.. not do that. If you put chicken in the pan with too much heat you also dry it out.
The difference for me is literally just a few seconds of work instead of a few minutes.: doing it in the pan/oven takes a few minutes of me being there, then I also have to clean the pan, versus I arrange it on a plate, put it in the microwave, go do something else for a few minutes, then I eat.

But... Why? What is "heating properly"? I heat almost anything in the microwave and it works perfectly, tastes just like any other way to heat stuff up. Most of the time it even works better, since it heats more evenly than almost any other method.

From https://github.com/AveYo/ShowMMR Numbers are displayed like in the old client - the Nov 19 2017 one still works - example: 12345 (+45) New numbers are saved locally per-user, serialized to JOY1 - JOY32 binds for up to 640 recent matches Your defined binds - that reside in slot0 - will not be affected Optionally retrieve previous history via ShowMMR tool, and replace local file with the generated one ``` _______________________ SetTableValue | 3| GetTableValue _______________| scripts / |____________________ | __>___>___>__ custom_net_tables.txt ___>___>___>___>__ | |^| |_______________________| | | ______| |_____ |v| | 2| SendCustomGameEvent _______________| |________________ | scripts / |__________________________________| 4| SendToConsole | vscripts / ___<___<___<___<___<___<___<___<__ panorama / | _____________| core / | | layout / | | _<___<___<_ coreinit.lua | DOTARankUpdated | dashboard_background_manager.xml | | | |______ _____| DOTAShowProfileHeroStatsPage |_______________ ________________| | | | | #ranked_mmr_value | | |v| LoadKeyValues |^| |v| core.Data.history | | ____________| |___________ ___________________| |__________________ | | | 1| | 5| | |_____| cfg / | | panorama / | |____>__ user_keys_%d_slot3.vcfg | | layout / | |__________________________| | dashboard_page_profile_recent_game.xml | |________________________________________| ``` If any game is running, only cached Data history is used when opening the profile page Back at dashboard, event signals script to retrieve #ranked_mmr_value and update table if needed It may look like a lot of work to just get a number from ui and save it in a table locally That is because vscript and panorama are finally hardened / crippled, no more ~arbitrary r/w! These scripts do not touch any gameplay elements, should be whitelist-able at a glance Knowing Valve have historically disabled specific modding features rather than carpet banning users Nothing bad should happen if there is any official griefing regarding this harmless dashboard mod Still, use at your own risk! F-droid is pretty slow in picking up versions, how f-droid works by default is that you register a source code repository with it and then f-droid goes ahead and checks the source code and builds and checks the application themselves to put in their repository. All this takes about 2-4 days usually.
However, for me at least, 0.34 is currently the latest one on the official f-droid repository, maybe there's some other issue with your fdroid.
But anyway, if you want faster updates, you have to use another app repository within fdroid instead of the official one, IzzyOnDroid's is a trusted one. It doesn't build the apps, but simply goes to the repos and looks for already built APKs and serves those, which is less secure (as it doesn't vet the built apps) and thus faster.
When I go to "All" and sort by "Hot", I've been seeing the same posts there since a day now, and most posts there are 2+ days old. When I do the same on my accounts on other instances, the list constantly changes and most posts are minutes old. Is something broken and not updating on tchncs?
Azzu 1 year ago • 100%
Definitely same, but mostly on long comment threads. Might be worth to see if there's an issue on GitHub already
Azzu 1 year ago • 100%
I've no idea why that would be or what exactly "often enough" means for you - hot has mostly 8-16h old posts, and if I start scrolling down a bit I even start to see 15 minute old posts. Which is probably not how it should be, but 15 minutes certainly seems "often enough".
I also see 2 year old posts on hot for some reason, so yeah, it's definitely not perfect, but reddit had more than a decade to get it right, I'm sure lemmy will get better.
Azzu 1 year ago • 100%
That's reddit from 8+ years ago you're talking about, and small communities. Reddit has long been a mainstream community now, and we all know how the average person is.
Azzu 1 year ago • 100%
I mean the user base is less than 1% of reddits. So of course you're going to have less posts. You're relying on people for browsing, you either can chose to be content with how much people are posting, or get to posting yourself.
