The Beautiful Dead https://vimeo.com/334010667

"While not for the squeamish, this series of three short films by Melissa Hogenboom and Pierangelo Pirak is pretty much essential for anyone not daunted by the sight of corpses and the reality of death. An exquisitely shot blend of wry re-enactment, vox-pop and gentle documentary, this compact trilogy takes us to Palermo to find out about Sicily's religious and cultural traditions of mummification, from the Middle Ages until the early 20th century. If this is the kind of eccentric cultural mini doc BBC Reel is hoping to specialise in, it should be applauded” by Andrew Male for The Times

Story of two Irish kids (10 and 13) who made their way from Dublin to the UK and finally New York with no tickets in 1985 - Audio [39:02] https://www.rte.ie/radio/doconone/646486-radio-documentary-dont-go-far

Absolutely fascinating stuff. The power of social engineering, charm and confidence by two very young kids is mind blowing. Some very funny bits in it too.

Utopia - John Pilger - Australia's shameful secret https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiaOMizO2Y4

This documentary explores the experiences of Aboriginal Australians in modern Australia. The title is derived from the Aboriginal homeland community of Utopia, Northern Territory, one of the poorest and most desolate areas in Australia. After almost three decades since he made a similar documentary, Pilger discovers that Aboriginal families are still living in extremely overcrowded and poorly sanitized asbestos shacks, and are plagued by easily curable diseases. The film goes on to explore some of the issues currently afflicting Australia such as; failed health policies, Aboriginal deaths in police custody, mining companies failing to share the wealth they have acquired with the first Australians and the disputed allegations made by the media and government that there were pedophile rings, petrol warlords and sex slaves in Aboriginal communities and the resulting 2007 intervention. The film also features a visit to Rottnest Island, Western Australia, where an area that was used as a prison for Aboriginal people until 1931, has now been converted into a luxury hotel where tourists are not even informed of the island's brutal history.

Praying for Armageddon (2023) www.imdb.com

Praying for Armageddon is a political thriller that explores the power and influence of American Evangelical Christians as they aim to fulfil the Armageddon prophecy. The film observes American believers as they prepare for what they call The Holy War and exposes the powerful megachurch pastors who call for the 'final battle' that they believe will trigger the Second Coming of Christ. Completed before the current crisis in Israel and Gaza, it also unveils how politicians driven by faith embrace the State of Israel as the key to their prophetic vision for the end of days Watch in UK on [BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m001z96s/storyville-praying-for-armageddon)
