A brillant article that says absolutely nothing about meditation but advertise and sell branded garments very well. Nice

the scientology is approved by people like Tom Cruise. Might be better avoiding though, even if Mission Impossible is enjoyable.

that's cool :) I like how forms and volums are well indicated with simple lines.

not sure what you mean, but I find that Dells are also cheap (second hand) easy to find, reliable, solid and easy to maintain (like the hardware is easy to access for cleaning and replacing/updating).
edit : I'm using a latitude 5470 with lubuntu. I bought it second in a pawn shop a few years ago and added some RAM last year, it still runs like a charm.

for a lot of people (me included), a cheap second hand thinkpad (or dell pro) with a light distro would be more than enough to cover their computing needs for years.

yeah, it's more about finding open minded people with empathy (and be open minded and empathic ourself) more than finding people just like us. Embracing differences, respecting and understanding eachother is key. There are plenty of people out there who keep their kids to themself and have plenty of other interests, it's easier to meet them if we don't push them away in the first place (just like they don't push us way fro being child free).

it is not such a stretch. according to Oxford dictionary, to throw is :
1.propel (something) with force through the air by a movement of the arm and hand.
which is a very human concept. We then can not judge other species ability to do it (exept primates). just like we can not say animals don't have languages because thay don't speak english.
2.send suddenly into a particular state or condition.
The archer fish is then very efficient at sending water into a particular state or condition with high accuracy.
the octopus for exemple has been observed throwing stuff around.
edit : elephants do it to. and you can find plenty of bird examples.

the archerfish can accurately spit jets of water to hunt inscects ... I'm sure there are much more examples of other species accurately throwing things around. we're not that special ...

thanks for the clarification ! that clear it up :) I'm pretty sure I've seen it advertised several times, but I can't find the actual claim anymore .... I hope I haven't made this up somehow, otherwise I apologize for the misinformation :/ (I'll keep looking).

thanks ! that is usually what I do. Someone offered me a sketch book made of stone paper (it's actually quite nice to draw on), so I was wondering what to think of it.
Hi all, not sure this is the right place to ask... mods, feel free to do what has to be done if not. I'm interested is "stone paper" a kind of paper made out of calcium carbonate (from limestone or construction waste) and HDPE (High-density polypropylene). It's been advertised as a more eological solution for producing paper as it doesn't requires to cut down trees and uses much less water and chemicals in the process, compared to traditional paper. My concern in about HDPE (that represent more or less 20℅ of the final product). Most companies advertise it as a "non-toxic biodegradable" plastic. But I can not find any reliable information to back this up. I'm then inclined to think it is just green-washing. but still I'm wondering if anyone could bring some insight about HDPE being biodegrade ... thanks !
a quick sketch, experimenting with ink on etched stone paper.

A deep pen with a good nib makes nice clean lines. It's a terrible "scan" of the actual drawing. I did it with my terrible phone and cleaned it up a bit with curves and sharpening filter. that might be that as well x) haha
I did not finish drawabox nor did I exactly follow the exercises, but I certainly got better line work and spacial vision through the drills !

I don't think you've got to get check by a therapist every time you get numb limbs from staying still for too long. that's just a pinched nerve or some blood flow restriction from some presure on my butt :) Just a posture/sit issue. haha, I'll be fine, don't worry.

Mu cushion is one filled with grain (it's confortable but a little small I reckon), which is laying on a carpet, I'll look into that (maybe add a yoga mat ?). Hopefully I'll get used to it. thanks
Hi all, how do you manage to sit for long periods of time ? I'm having trouble staying still after 25/30mn. After that my right leg gets so numb, I've got to move it every once in a while. I'm not sure it really is an issue, but even if I try ti stay focused on my meditation while moving, it's always a distraction. Fyi : I sit crossed legs with my butt on a cushion. Thanks !

Just bloody whinings.

You will aways find exceptions (like emergency and medical sercices, transporting people who cannot walk or bike, transporting goods ...) that's why I said "most of the time". A park ranger (edit : I meant " could use") use a car for her/his duties and go back home to her/his personal business with public transport. Most situations could be handled without a car, and the few left could be handled with much smaller vehicles (and should be looked at to minimize the use of car to a maximum. I'm sure a ranger could do some of her/his job riding a dirtbike)
weshgo 1 year ago • 0%
If you are somewhere for work then you're probably not on your own and your employer could offer some form of common transportation so you don't rely on your own car (and foundings) to get your task done.

I agree with the first statement. The answer for the least harfull option is easy though : if you currently are dependent on cars (a lot of people think they are but really aren't, they are just lazy), get the smallest, most reliable second hand car you can find. Buying any thing new is just feedind the capitalist beast that the car industry is. If you choose to live in such a remote place that any form of public transportation would be "wasting a ton of resources driving around a vehicle with no one in it" then you are on you own.
weshgo 1 year ago • 50%
the least harmfull car is public transport. we should be discussing how to make this accessible instead.
weshgo 1 year ago • 50%
99% of cars are not needed. Everyone should be able to go on with their life without it. Every car dependent situation could not be. Instead of saying cars are ok because I need one right now" that is fallacious, we should be asking "how can we change things so we don't need it anymore ?". Fuck all cars
weshgo 1 year ago • 0%
You're just trying to convice yourself that what you do is fine. just like a tobacco addict saying he/she's not addicted, still has freewill, can quit any time, just smoke socially, is not a victim of the tobacco industry.... same fallacious logic. You do you bro, but be honest with yourself.
weshgo 1 year ago • 66%
And that should not be acceptable. Every one should be able to commute by public transport. A car dependent situation is not immutable and should not be treated as such. You'r looking at the problems the wrong way. instead of asking what the best car is for a specific reality, we should be asking ourselves how to change that reality sot it's not car dependent anymore.
Why are some people here on fuckcars still debating on what the best car is ? I mean, most of the time the best car is no car. edit : that was a genuine question. I wasn't expecting such wrath from car enthusiasts.
Freediving ins't an extrem sport and can be quite safe.

I've seen the documentary (whitch dosen't document anything very well) and I have read your post. I then repeat myself, freediving is much more than a reckless dangerous sport. the movie picture the markatable sensational dangerous side of it with a romantic touch without giving any insight on the sport. It's like watching free solo and thinking you know what rock climbing is. You don't. You are talking about things you do not uderstand. You do not know those people, you haven't met them, talk to them, and you do not know anything about freediving. You just whatched a fantasy movie on netflix. You do no know better than anyone.
weshgo 1 year ago • 50%
It's just one more sensational doc from netflix, selling extraordinary adventures to a public seeking to be entertained and thrilled while sitting on a couch. It portrays freediving as an extrem deadly crazy sport for special insane fearfree people. witch really isn't. It's just a product of the entertainment industry. It's neither objective nor honest. It's just selling you fantasy. Don not take this seriously. You do not know those people, neither their story. You just saw what netflix wants you to see.

I back this up. I've been using it for about 2 years. works like a charm, most default apps are very efficient and I like how the play store rate the app according to their level of privacy.
I'msurprised I haven't seen any mention of /e/os here. So I thought you'd be interested. I've been using it on a samsung S7 for the past two years and have been happily google free since then.
