I was utterly amazed at so many people in that thread advocating that LLM's were supposed to, like, superglue the internet and thereby somehow make it available to people in the global south? When an LLM is just quite literally a faster autocomplete and doesn't actually connect people to anything. I wonder what these people will think when these "AI" companies decide they want money and they're done burning cash. They think internet is expensive? Just wait until these LLM makers are tired of spending money. @rook @V0ldek

@o7___o7 Thank you! The audio email from my Dominican friend where he was telling me happy birthday made it all the more epic! There was another person that said, well, don’t be surprised if she writes about you writing about her using AI because that was uncalled for, but I just had such a visceral reaction, I was just like, I need to write about this because I am afraid this is going to get common in Casual settings and not just corporate kind of settings either. Thank you so much for your comment however! It made my night!

I wanted to see a tired typo in her email from a hard days work. I wanted her to mix up my age. I wanted to see the imperfections in the tired as fuck email because the fact she still wrote to me, even though she was tired and would’ve wrote down my incorrect age, the fact that she thought about me enough to craft something personal would have made everything worth it. @MBM

Thank you! Also, someone else thought the audio friend that sent an audio song to me of happy birthday was also an LLM/AI and that was the actual human one! Yikes! But agreed! Thing is, because I know LLM's super well, I can tell what prompt she used and that just makes me sad because the prompt was something like write a happy birthday email to my writer friend. @mahryekuh @techtakes @fuck_ai

@inb4_FoundTheVegan Thank you! The truly sad thing is, because I know LLM’s so well, I even think I know the exact prompt she used. There was another person that said, well, she didn’t make it a generic thing. She put in her prompt that you were a writer. It doesn’t make it thoughtful. Thank you though for Yoyr happy Bday wish! I also came across this after so mine. Very similar https://mrgan.com/ai-email-from-a-friend/

@nigel @techtakes @fuck_ai Oh yes! Thank you! I will explain to her soon, but thank you for commenting! I can’t find it now but someone else was thinking about all the insincere gifts they received from people, but at the moment, even those insincere gifts seem to be more thoughtful, but yes I will explain when it is a propper time.

@self Bingo! You got it! Thank you! For others, the contrast between the messages. My Dominican friend sent me a caring message that was lovely and heartfelt. The other one was careless and sent me a generated thing that I never even expressed interest in in the first place. I was contrasting the feelings of receiving those two kinds of messages

I hope they do so they spend more money and so investors will get pissed off at how much money they are spending. Investors are already getting pissed, which is good! https://pivot-to-ai.com/2024/08/03/ai-investors-are-getting-the-jitters/ @snooggums

It is a shame LLM's weren't designed to be a common good to Disabled people though. We're just a happy use case accident for these companies and AI manufacturers. It's tricky because this could be done just as well, I figure, with specifically designed LLM's instead of generic ones. @pavnilschanda @CarbonIceDragon

I’m trying [@librewolf](https://lemmy.ml/c/librewolf) browser and it might seem like a small thing to you all, but they went out of their way to preserve accessibility features for disabled users like myself, whereas other privacy solutions remove accessibility features completely, and their efforts to make sure disabled users have a private focused but accessible browser is more welcome than you can imagine because disabled people need privacy as well. I would argue that disabled people need privacy more. I wish more [#privacy](https://tweesecake.social/tags/privacy) advocates took accessibility and disability into account the way they have currently. I hope this remains a core mission of theirs

A Guy Walks into My Bar Audiobook recommendation. Before I start, this is an M/M romance. One of the most wonderful British male narrators I’ve ever heard. His name is Shane east. I don’t know his ethnicity, but I was immediately swept up by him reading of one of the characters. This audiobook is a duet narration. This means that multiple readers are reading the dialogue of characters. It is not an audio drama or a full cast recording but I just love the male British narrator Shane East [https://www.audible.com/pd/B08BTLV158?source\_code=ASSORAP0511160006&share\_location=pdp](https://www.audible.com/pd/B08BTLV158?source_code=ASSORAP0511160006&share_location=pdp) [\#Audiobooks](https://tweesecake.social/tags/Audiobooks) [@audiobooks@literature.cafe](https://literature.cafe/c/audiobooks) [@audiobooks@a.gup.pe](https://a.gup.pe/u/audiobooks)

Found a neat little program that will compile, split, merge, and rename chapters in fiction all with the keyboard. Some commands conflict with screen readers so I suggest not using this program for reviewing your writing, but for compiling. It was designed to be keyboard exclusive and is at least 70% accessible, with some dialogs not reading unless in browse mode. warewoolf. Hi [@disability](https://beehaw.org/c/disability) I am a Blind writer. I write mostly romance because Disabled people should have happily ever afters too! I moved to the Fedi long before the migrations started happening around big socials and I've contributed a few things, along with others in this space, to help make these spaces a bit more accessible for all, but especially screen reader users because that is my lived experience. I believe in the social model of Disability and I am tired all day long. Still, I hang out a lot in RomanceLandia because I feel it is the best way to understand people, is through their romantic fantasies and wish fulfilments and dreams and desires. I run a blog and keep up with my blog and mailing list the most.
