Yeah that's what I figured but just wanted to get other opinions since its been most of the week. It wasn't nearly this bad when I first started using the platform but I guess the "official reddit exodus" really took its toll even with the big server upgrades. I'm looking at other instances, but it seems like any instance that isn't the big ten or so are pretty dead with very few communities. I also want to be federated with lemmygrad and not exploding heads and that seems kinda tough to find though I could stand to look harder.

I tried that and another app right now but it's telling me that my password is wrong! So I'm nervous to try and reset it right now Guess I'll try again tomorrow sigh

Ah yeah I kinda figured. It sucks because I align with the politics and all that of lemmy.ml so I chose this instance due to that and I've posted a bit so I don't want to leave!! First of all, bless you for having that mindset. I couldn't possibly understand getting upset that you'd want to return the favor, or that you wanting to please her as well means that you didnt enjoy it.

Do you offer because you're turned on and genuinely want to make her feel good, or is your offer more based in the tit for tat mentality? Maybe it feels transactional to her if you always offer right after.

If it does bother her so much, maybe you can talk about it and ask her to request it when she wants it if she doesn't already . Or, instead of offering right after, save it for later and surprise her so that it doesn't seem obligatory, is that is in fact her issue here.

I guess another way to look at this is that you aren't taking anything from her, she's giving it to you, presumably because it makes her happy to please you. That can be satisfying in and of itself for the giver. I think communication about this stuff is key, just keep checking in here and there and enjoy

Can I ask what happened today and I can try to base any other advice off of that? I think everyone else covered most of the bases; if you think that you haven't learned anything new it could be that the drivers you encountered were shit or actively hate cyclists...it's not unheard of

Lol aw man I'm definitely getting old; I remember when Skrillex came out and kinda ruined the genre tbh, it was so totally different when it first emerged, it actually sounded like dub. So I'm not familiar with any of those guys, they were after my time.

I think it probably depends on the listener but yeah, if I try to listen to most mid 80s hip hop, it's so rudimentary that it's really hard for me to a tuslly get into. Like Run DMC, or NWA. I can get into NWA but the novelty runs out quickly so I can only listen to them very rarely. But there are a lot of newer bands that I hear and say "I've already heard x y and z do this better" so it's hard to get excited about new stuff too. If you are a really avid music listener I think it has to take something exceptional coming out to really get impressed by

Well it used to be slipknot/KoRn/Limp Bizkit etc etc, but now nu metal is cool with all the zoomers, so I'm no longer embarrassed of being a nu metal kid. It's been pretty cool to reconnect with that stuff without fear! Tbh there are a lot of KoRn tracks that slap, and you can hear their influence in a lot of the underground metal music I listen to. The band chat pile that's pretty popular right now cites KoRn as an influence. Limp Bizkit is still preeeeeetty fuckin bad though. I fuck with some tracks off of 3 Dollar Bill Y'all$, but so much of it is just corny as hell. System of a Down was always considered dope so they don't count

Congrats! Thick leather gloves are fantastic for thorns, so that's what I would recommend. I'm a glutton for punishment, though, and when I don't have my leather gloves I'll still dig through thorny plants, albeit veeeery gently. That's normally if I'm just pruning small patches of blackberry or roses, though and also I'm a masochist lol.

If a ton of the thorny plants are blackberry, it might be a good idea to hire someone to clear it. I've never done so but they are voracious growers. You may know this, but any branch that touches the ground can put off new roots and grow even more and so on. Unless you can dig out all of the roots, just going through and cutting is a losing game, unless you get it cut back to where it's manageable and you don't mind pruning regularly.

As for garden clippings, composting is the way. You do want to make sure that you aren't getting any weeds in your compost, though, otherwise they will profilerate and your compost soil will just spread more weeds. Again, you may know this, but for browns, save any unbleached paper that you can. Torn up cardboard, newspaper, napkins,coffee filters, paper grocery bags, chopped up twigs/wood chips/shavings, dryer Lint. If you can shred your brown foliage that's great as well. If there is a farm/feed store somewhat close to you, you can buy straw for fairly cheap and that will last forever depending on the size of the compost pile.

Also, if you can look into native flowers for your area and scatter a ton of seed once you've cleared out weeds, they can help to eventually keep the weed population under control. Clover helps with this, too and can be good ground cover. Just wanna make sure it's not invasive in your area and it doesn't choke out your natives

Maybe try beehaw.org. they are.known for blocking a ton of instances but i think it's heavily moderated towards people being trolls.

It's my hope that a lot of the people who want to turn lemmy into reddit will get bored and leave since the interface isn't as convenient as reddit

This was happening to me on jerboa with my lemmy.ml account for a week or so; I think the app is still just wigging out due to the influx of users. I'd just wait it out and use the browser on mobile and it will probably come around as I don't have issues with that now. Or try reinstalling?

Lemmy.ml was just upgraded pretty substantially a couple of weeks ago with the first large reddit exodus, so unless there is a ton more monetary support from users, i don't really know that the problem will be solved. It's been like this since the 29th. Jerboa is all but unusable for me unless it's late at night.

Generally it is suggested to jump to a different instance and your performance may improve, lemmy.ml has been way overloaded for a long time. Lemmy instances, similar to Mastodon, usually have their own target audiences. A lot of general use instances have popped up with the Reddit migration, but it is usually preferable to try and settle on an instance that might suit your interests.

What exactly are you concerned about? Like are there any particular outcomes that scare you? I doubt that anything you take would make a huge, substantial, permanent change that you would notice, but again this is all just my assumption but I've taken reishi, kava, ginseng, all kinds of tea etc and I haven't noticed drastic changes after my body metabolizes it

Though I will say, after re-reading the beginning of the post I can see why OP would be frustrated. Seems like his friend was a jerk to begin with, and maybe he kinda used OPs labor of teaching him to become condescending again. But then that means that the politics aren't really the issue, it's the friend being a dick. On the face of it I think it's always worth the effort to try to bring people around but maybe there's more to the story and OP should just say fuck it and end the friendship
