I literally feel there is a Hollywood exec that has done a line of cocaine and said exactly that
notaviking 15 hours ago • 100%
Fuck I hope Hollywood finally realises that they have really hit the the bottom of the barrel regarding remakes. Also, some sequels or whatever-quels have been hit and miss.
They need to focus on new fresh ideas, something new. Unfortunately they have to do something that is much harder now and that is not playing safe with proven IP. Make new IP, what ever gets the right team to be consistent with new movie ideas, maybe like Studio A24, will be in blue waters not fighting over the nostalgia against each other.

If you want to look at a country that solved their power problem with solar, I heard that is exactly what Vietnam did by incentivising the private generation of power, basically buying extra power from people's solar. But do your own research, not entirely sure of the whole story
notaviking 2 days ago • 100%
Bullshit, South African here. Yes solar has helped, mostly the affluent who can afford to install their own private home/business solar power.
But The huge problem what caused it was the ANC, which in May lost its majority in the elections for the first time since 1994.
The state run power company, Eskom, had been run into the ground by the ANC due to corruption and incompetence. In 1997 a white paper showed there would not be enough power by 2007. The only two power stations they build, the two largest in the world if I am not incorrect has been the subject of the state capture commission due to corruption.
In 2024 when it became clear they might lose majority, they exempted themselves from a government policy, which affects all medium to large businesses, which mandated they had to procure anything like maintenance or supplies through a BEE (black economic empowerment) partner. The idea is good but has been abused as rent seeking by the politically connected. So now they are exempt and the OEMs can directly work to fix and maintain the power stations.
Funny due to the loadshedding, or rolling blackouts, we did not have enough power stations working, and as far as I know we were one, if not the only country reaching our Paris accords targets.
But solar power is here to stay, heck even I want it on my own place, due to the cost of electricity becoming unaffordable, if you take a 10 year loan on a solar system, the cost savings will pay of the system itself. This has led to the affluent that can afford high tariffs prices from Eskom switch to Solar, saving them money, but they were used to subsidise electricity prices for the poor. So now the poor must pay more for electricity.
The government did finally approve the independent power producers bill, finally allowing people other than government to produce electricity, and solar looks like a solid option, since we have lots of Sun and the falling prices. So government is loosing grip on the generation market, allowing the free market to make changes.
But I will say it has been so nice to have had uninterrupted power when I come home, not needing to throw out my freezer food, having a hot shower, being able to prepare food on a hot stove under lights instead of a braai/BBQ.

It is sad that the last noises were identified to be loud banging of what was identified as a controller against the shell. Probably to get it to work.
Well hopefully Logitech will improve their design in the future. Maybe in the future I will read the article and not make something up. Who knows

Yeah this feels like a fluff piece.
This is all my opinion. Some rocks dissolve in water, which is how we have sinkholes, or water table contamination. Another problem is physics, the hot water you pump down need to be pumped back up, that is a large cost on its own. Even if it is 200°C steam will rise in atmospheric conditions not subterranean, nor will it easily go back into the hot side pipes as this illustrates.
Funny enough I do feel geothermal is an untapped resource. I think, and this is my thinking again, a closed loop phase change system (like your refrigerator) can really work, even in areas where geothermal heat is not that readily available.

But for now and the foreseeable future may this amazing initiative have a wonderful future

Don't get me wrong, not a fan of either of them, I already lived through my Trumpian president, President Jacob Zuma basically stepped down more or less the same time Trump got elected. So believe me I would not wish a demagogue on my worst enemy. But politics is still politics, if Trump made Kennedy Jnr, in my opinion, and my third world brain infested mind may have one, that would have been in my mind the winning ticket, much better than having a weird couch guy as your VP.
But let's see how your election will turn out. Hail Satan

Bullshit, home brewers have been for ages making better lager beer at home, the commercial space they want highly efficient yeast and get as high as possible efficiency, sometimes close to 100%, they also mix corn or maize as another startch, where home brewers get closer to 70% efficiency, use a variety of yeasts, like 100s if not 1000s of available strains, to make amazing beer including lagers that will blow the average non craft beer drinkers mind.
Commercial lager beer tastes like shit because it is made as cheaply as possible. That's why it must be icy cold to numb your taste buds or you taste the horrible taste once it gets Luke warm. Real beer usually is not served icy cold, but closer to 5-8°C so that you can taste the aromas

I do not feel that one administration is more responsible than the other, but rather the American support as a whole is the problem. Just like I feel Iranian support towards Hezbollah or Hamas for example is just as bad if not more so. I feel sorry for the innocent people involved, the Palestinian side more so because of their helplessness.

Some cities this can work, but some cities have been engineered to keep certain people out, we call it a tax on the poor, they cannot afford to live in the city, so they must stay outside like 30km minimum, and travel everyday in and out, about 1.5h a shot, so 3 hours total, plus 9 hours work. And for a salary if the employer is generous and pays above minimum wage we are talking US$250/month. 20-30% of this goes to transport (thank the taxi mafia which government does nothing against). When the government did put cycle lanes in our economic hub of a city, the poor decried since it took their public transport lane and gave the rich a nice cycle line to avoid all the traffic since they live close to work. Also, rampant crime makes it so that if you are poor and cannot afford security, good luck keeping your bike that won't be stolen for scrap metal or whatever for a Nyaope hit (heroin with HIV anti retrovirals that have hallucinogenic properties as a side effect)
South Africa and referring to Johannesburg, CBD to be specific. Yeah and our piss poor unemployment of 33% officially, closer to 50% unofficially, makes sure that if you are dissatisfied you can be easily replaced. Entrenched oppression is fucking hectic.

Who the hell is Clyde? Yes I agree MK is a Zulu nationalism party mainly, but apart from their chatgpt inspired manifesto I am assuming the MK is basically a breakaway from the ANC, basically Zuma's ANC, just like EFF is another breakaway party from the ANC, Malema's ANC. Zuma and Malema were, before Malema's expulsion, buddy buddy. Basically both were yelling Marxist rhetoric about seizing the land and mines for economic liberation for the masses. Both Malema and Zuma have documented corruption, Zuma with the arms deal, Guptas, Venda Bank (Zuma's list is insanely large), Malema with the on point engineering and also Venda Bank. Both come from the same political school apart from Malema is Pedi and Zuma is Zulu, basically the same caliper and vying for the same vote, look how the MK ate into the ANC and especially the EFF vote. The smart thing for the EFF to do is join the MK since what they want is basically the same thing

Well manipulation of people is my example with Venezuela with guns and corruption. but it is a small country. What about a 150 million or more country, what would be easier, manipulation of paper votes across the country involving a lot, and I mean a lot, of people using ballot stuffing and count rigging or getting a small hacking group years in advance to plan and execute a voting machine manipulation without anyone noticing

Well he clearly jumped ship as soon as the other party got popular. But he would always have been seen as Malema's deputy, always as his shadow.
I wonder if the EFF might merge with MK in the future, since they both come from identical backgrounds, being expelled ANC leaders forming new parties, drinking from the same Marxist ideological pond, both parties leaders, including Shivambu, stealing money from the poor through fraud and corruption. It's like they were made for each other, if only Malema can overcome the fact that Zuma was the one that started the process of kicking out Malema from the ANC.

Electronic voting will never be safe. A combination of electronic and physical systems might be the best. Like putting in your vote on a screen but also have a punched card that can be physically verified by the voter before submitting the card as well. Thus there is an easy electronic count and a physical card that cannot be easily hacked if there is a need for a recount.
But there are many ways to skin a cat, and even physical votes like in Venezuela can still be overturned if you have the corrupt men and men with weapons if you argue.

Yes, basically. Enegy is used on H2O gets split and turned into H2 and O2, the H2 then in the fuel cell gets to react again with O2 to produce energy, less than what was used to split it, why it is inefficient, and now stable H20
Hopefully I am in the right community. So I have a router, a TP Link Archer AX53, nice router. I wanted to improve the signal in my room and bought a TP link Deco X10. So CAT 6 cable to my room, connect my router and deco. I thought this might just be a quick tick to add the deco as a mesh device and boom problem sorted. Now I know this is not a simple WiFi 6 mesh setup, seems like the deco and archer modem does not work together, they make their individual network points. Does anyone know a solution or am I stuck with two networks. Not end of the world but would have been nice if it can be one mesh network
I was always on Linux since Varsity but two years ago when I bought a gaming Laptop, it had Windows 11 on and worked great. I thought I would give it a chance and it was great especially for gaming. Luckily a lot of the open source software I was used to were available on windows. I also liked some of the Linux tools like the cmd tools being adopted by windows. But yesterday, after two years of seeing issues pile up and the system degrading, I thought how is the grass back on the other side, since I am sick of this shit. Installed my go to distro, Mint, and god what a fucking idiot I feel like. Even if Windows improved since I used it back from 8, but how much has Linux improved in these last two years, like eons compared to windows. My system is smooth and fast, hell my Cyberpunk 2077 runs amazing, even better and less crashing with nothing more than install and no other settings from steam. Chef's kiss
