Re: "the research is entirely google’s."
For the last two years, Google had been a marquee sponsor of IT For IDF — the company is a natural partner for the event, given Google Cloud’s foundational role in Project Nimbus, a $1.2 billion contract aimed at modernizing cloud computing operations across Israeli government that it shares with Amazon.
Google’s own corporate schedule, reviewed by The Intercept, seems to contradict this statement. The document includes upcoming Google events in Israel, and IT For IDF 2024 is on the list. On this internal schedule, Google is explicitly labeled as a co-sponsor of the conference in partnership with CloudEx, an Israeli cloud computing consultancy.

I just used some bio manure beads this season and mixed it deep into the soil. Apparently it's enough nutrients for three seasons. If the student committee now formed a bloc with the trade unions, particularly the garment worker unions, there is the possibility that they might indeed form the opening for building a new democratic and people-centered Bangladesh.
I'm pessimistic, I'm old enough to have seen many promising movements fade/disappear.
If they are unable to build this historical bloc, they may be pushed to the side, just like the students and workers in Egypt, and they might have to surrender their efforts to the military and an elite that has merely changed its jersey.

I just noticed I haven't visited Lemmygrad in a month, cause I was afraid of opening the site. Same reason I ignore important emails, don't respond to friends and sometimes "ghost" people. If someone calls me on the phone, I answer, if someone wants to hang out I go and hang out, but it is so easy to shut out the digital world. Kind of unfortunate everything is moving to the digital realm... or is it by design? Is it a feature of the digital system that those of us with anxiety won't be able to participate fully? People ask me if I have instagram, nope. I don't post about my life on social media, yet that is what is expected to be a participating member of today's society.
Personally, I believe that **A** CAB. Yes, *all* cops are bastards, no exceptions. Yet I have met people who think that cops in socialist countries aren't bastards. My reasoning is that it is a position of power over your fellow citizens/countrymen/people and only bastards would be attracted to such positions. While a person may go in with "good intentions", invariably they will be at some point in their career be expected to do something "not good": cover up for a colleague, arrest someone for law they don't agree with, beat somebody up, and so on. If they do it and remain a cop, well they are a bastard, no matter how many old ladies they help cross the street or whatever. Let's also not pretend that a full communist utopia where every single law/regulation/rule is fair is possible in our lifetimes (or at all likely), there'll always be people who will want to abuse their power and take control, cops are an easily bought section of society that makes it possible for them. Historically, cops have always sided with the aristocracy/bourgeoisie/land-owners/those with money. Your thoughts?

It's a *chill* book club. **Discussion?** Sure. Post thoughts, excerpts, quotes, page numbers to refer back to, whatever. Nobody is going to comment on style or substance, it's a free expression area. More than one comment allowed (and encouraged), don't worry about structure or anything like that. **I/me rule is suspended.** It is possible to talk about oneself, what one thought and what the book made them feel/think in this thread. It is still not allowed to talk about other people or comment on them personally, commenting on oneself is plenty. **Content:** Discussing books to do with the human mind and human condition. Fiction is allowed too, only if it is proper mental. # The Book Deleuze & Guattari: *Capitalism and Schizophrenia* It is actually two books, *Anti-Oedipus* and *A Thousand Plateaus*. YT link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpuKu3F0BvY **Description**: Has man really been to the moon? It’s been 50 years, and the debate rages on. For the firs time, a film compiles in a single piece of work, all the best evidence in favor of the moon landings and the evidence contrary to them. For the first time we can also analyze the Apollo pictures in detail, with the aid of some among the top photographers in the world. What was the Apollo project really? The biggest achievement in the history of mankind, or the biggest fakery of all times, watched on live television by more than half a billion people? **Disclaimer**: I don't actually buy into the "Moon landing hoax" conspiracy, but this movie is interesting because it approaches the issue from the angle of "American propaganda promised the Moon, but they couldn't achieve it, so they faked it". In the beginning the documentary says the "Moon race" was actually a one-sided race and that the Soviet Union didn't even attempt to send a man to the Moon. There's also an audio recording of Kennedy telling James Webb that sending a man to the Moon is a "stunt" and it's not worth the billions, when the same knowledge about the Moon can be gathered "with instruments". The documentary does not paint a nice picture of the US and it's an interesting look into the Moon landing (hoax or not).

Fuck. I shouldn't have trusted that dream, things were going too well. Then bam! It had me and wouldn't let go. [The "sleep foundstion" says:](https://www.sleepfoundation.org/parasomnias/night-terrors) >Night terrors are intense episodes of fear or terror during sleep, often accompanied by screaming or flailing. Experts recommend against waking someone up who is experiencing a night terror. The screaming and flailing is actually to wake up. Either to wake yourself up or have someone hear you and wake you up. The "sleep foundation" doesn't know shit. "Parasomnia", they gave it a scientific-sounding name so I guess they're the experts. Sure it can be PTSD, or anxiety, but what if there are actually dream entities that feed on our fear? I wanted to write "evil dream entities" the first few times, but now I'm thinking why would they be evil? It's not their fault or choice they feed on fear, the lion isn't evil for being a carnivore and feeding on the gazelle (yeah, there was no metaphor I could think of in which the supposed dream entities aren't the predator lol). But lion might be the wrong one, spider is a better one cause I didn't feel hunted, I felt ensnared. I had to write this post cause I couldn't risk going back to sleep so soon after, that's how they get you again. After some time the entities move on. But it's probably PTSD and anxiety.
A lot (if not most) "mental disorders" are caused by internalising and otherwise understanding the message of capitalism. "Accept" is the wrong word here, because acceptance implies agreement, when in fact it could be as simple as "going with it". Take hoarding for example. We live in a world of things. We are told from a young age that material possessions are important, that things are important. Marxists know that it's the relationships that make up things, of course, but capitalism focuses on the things themselves. When one considers *thing worship* in the form of rampant consumerism, high value "antiques" and other nonsense it is a surprise that not more people are hoarders. Shows like Pawn Stars and the like, Antique Roadshow and other antique "hunting" shows like it really drive home the idea that that old junk forgotten in the attic could be worth a lot of money some day. People who have a "mental disorder" are really just open and receptive to the dominant ideological ideas in our society. What spawned this post was a BBC article about [a woman who is going to "cure" hoarding by making an animated film](https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-leicestershire-69053179). That idea is silly because one does not cure a disease by managing its symptoms. The animated film is going to show "how destructive hoarding is to relationships". Even the artist admits that "it took time to realise hoarding was a problem for her family". No shit, we are trained and socialised into thinking that having things is actually a good thing. The animated film won't work; a cynic-slash-realist would say the artist found a niche to exploit and make money/a name for herself on. No hate there, we all have to hustle in capitalism. This is why the sidebar says "train magic resistance". Sometimes having "mental health problems" can be a bit like being a lightning rod for all the worst things in capitalism. One way of helping yourself and/or others is to unpack why something is the way it is. Once that is done, and the issue is identified, it is much easier to tackle it and ultimately solve/defeat it.

Sensing an opportunity and apparently feeling confident in their chances, Russian commanders have shoved the 15th and 74th Motor Rifle Brigades into the salient along with elements of the 90th Tank Division and some special forces. >At least seven Ukrainian brigades and a separate battalion are fighting back: the 23rd, 25th, 47th, 100th and 115th Mechanized Brigades, the 25th Air Assault Brigade, the 3rd Assault Brigade and the 425th Assault Battalion. The brigades typically deploy just one battalion at a time. >It’s apparent the Russians have, in all, more than 10,000 troops in or near the salient. In Europe, most "euroskeptic" parties are also fascist parties. They have taken up the mantle of being against the EU from leftist parties. I can remember Jeremy Corbyn in the UK being skeptic and even outright against the EU. The fascists have done the same with the anti-war sentiment and it is the far-right parties who are against arming NATO and direct confrontation with Russia. Socialists, communists have plenty to hate the EU for. A big reason is that EU law actually *forbids* EU states from nationalising industries and resources. For the EU, privatisation is the only way forward. The EU is a neoliberal, neocolonial institution and is the "natural" enemy of every socialist.
They claim that: >MEPs shape and decide on new laws But then say: >The European Commission is the EU’s executive branch, responsible for proposing and implementing EU law Looks like the dupes (MEPs) tried to give themselves legislative powers: >In a [resolution](https://www.europarl.europa.eu/doceo/document/TA-9-2022-0242_EN.html) adopted in June 2022, Parliament stated that it ‘strongly believes that the Treaties should be revised so that Parliament, as the only directly elected EU institution and hence the institution that represents the voice of the citizens in the EU decision-making process, is granted a general and direct right to initiate legislation’ First and last point of the resolution: >1. Emphasises and regrets that Parliament, despite being the only directly elected EU institution, does not have a general direct right of initiative; "regrets" :( >47.
