Sure, I'm aware of idiots on the internet, but if we tried to avoid idiots on the site we wouldn't federate with anyone. Lemmy.world is specifically billed as a "generic Lemmy server for everyone to use," I want the gates to be open fairly wide, that's why I'm here. Not for everyone, like I'm glad we defederated with exploding heads, but we still gave them a shot first and there was at least some more community discussion on it before that decision was made. That's what would make me feel a lot better about this.

I'm sure you can find someone calling to brigade such and such on there somewhere but they have over 20 thousand users total. That's a lot of people to rule out.

I know the admins of an instance are hosting us basically out of the goodness of their own hearts, and I appreciate that. And I understand they can do whatever they want, and we can move to a different instance if we want. I get it.

But I joined .world because I wanted a neutral instance that would connect with pretty much everyone unless they were particularly problematic. Could hexbear be particularly problematic? Sure, maybe. But I think there's a big difference between defederating in response to a problem and defederating in anticipation of a potential problem, especially since the users aren't given a chance to discuss it. Like, I know we're not technically entitled to give our input if we're not admins, but I think it would be nice, y'know?

If it was just some small instance of trolls that's one thing, but hexbear is actually quite a big instance, so this is a very impactful decision. I don't like it being made preemptively behind the scenes like this.

I thought the characters were all pretty likeable for the most part, but I agree it was just "okay" the whole way through, so there wasn't much to fumble.

Sure, but that's by Asgardian standards. He's also supposed to be a villain who took on the Avengers. Sure he didn't beat them and he's probably reeling from that a bit, but you'd think he'd be a bit more competent still overall.

I think Loki being good now was rushed, but isn't entirely unbelievable given that Loki does tend to turn good every so often anyway. But even if he does decide to be the good guy for a bit, he's still Loki — like you said, we're expecting "trademark grandiosity, sick fight scenes, and surprise turnarounds," and we didn't really get that, I totally agree.

One of the scenes that frustrated me in the show was when Loki got kicked off the train on Lamentis. First of all you'd think he'd be way too powerful to lose to train security, even drunk, but you can handwave the power levels for whatever reason; more importantly, it just felt like a dumb move so the plot could happen. I thought he might have some kind of plan behind what he was doing, but it seemed like he didn't, unless I missed a reveal somewhere?

I liked it overall but thought the ending was fairly meh; it didn't feel satisfying to me. Though I've been disappointed with almost all the finales of the Disney+ Marvel shows, even of the shows I mostly liked overall. It wasn't really about too much exposition, just that I didn't feel like it really wrapped up the season properly. I'm getting a bit tired of every show ending in a way that teases what comes next instead of just giving that story a proper conclusion.

Really what I was hoping for was for Loki to pull off some kind of satisfying plan after feeling pretty out of his depth the whole season. I get that's sort of the theme of the show, that the TVA and Kang situations are above even Thanos and Asgardians, but he's still a thousand-year-old trickster god whose whole thing is schemes. There were a few times I expected him to have something more going on, but the payoff never really happened. But I digress a bit. I'm still looking forward to season 2; Tom Hiddleston is fun to watch.

Since they'll be in draft packs they should bring the price down a good amount. Ragavan dropped like $30 after getting reprinted in MUL. I mean he's still pretty expensive, but it's something.

Plus, Doubling Season is also getting the CMM reprint, so that should help too. I'm gonna say it'll drop to, hmm, about $45. Hopefully less but that's my conservative estimate.

Yeah it looks like the price leaped up to 60 bucks right when Shelob was spoiled, then settled down a bit, especially with the reprint announced. Shelob single-handedly makes Spiders a good type, so that makes sense.

It's too bad that darkness and shadow blade are both concentration spells, since they work really well together mechanically and flavorfully.

There's not really a ton that interacts with shadow blade in particular, especially for Warlocks. Easy answer is to use green-flame/booming blade with it to make up some for not getting Extra Attack. You can also dual wield with it since it's Light, so you could be a Bladelock with another Light weapon as your Pact Weapon and do that.

I'm having a tremendously hard time picking my favorite art and artist in MTG. There's just so many fantastic arts. Currently the art on [[Unbound Flourishing]] is really speaking to me.

Hmm, I end up facing Hell Queue commanders even when I'm playing something like Werewolves, so I wanted something that'll stand a fair shot regardless of if the game is nice with my matchmaking.

Winota does seem like much more of a fair card now, but if no one's really using her anymore... is Isshin more popular? I've only fought a couple of Isshin decks but they didn't seem super well put-together.

I could run Winota in Isshin still too, that seems like it would be good.

I'm imagining that the best way to do it and actually be at least somewhat useful to the party is to get bless and healing word as soon as possible and just do that as much as possible, probably using your remaining actions to stay out of the way of danger. Out of combat you actually should have a decent amount of low level spells and cantrips to be pretty handy. Still not great but there are probably less useful characters people make.

So, start with Divine Soul Sorcerer for the Con saves, then take a level in one of the Clerics that gives you good armor. You don't have the Strength for heavy armor I'd guess but I think it's still worth it anyway, otherwise your party may find it to not be worthwhile to keep saving you. You should definitely take shield for that, too. By 5th level you should take a level in Warlock for eldritch blast, since that's the best damage you're going to get.

There is the alternative of focusing on eldritch blast and taking Warlock as your first level, that should let you take Agonizing Blast with Eldritch Adapt as your 1st level V-Human feat. Then you're as set for damage as you can be for your whole career. This is something of a generic take and it does mean you miss out on Con save proficiency; since your Constitution score is probably gonna be pretty weak with all this multiclassing, I think the proficiency is important.

Level order isn't super important outside of that, but take the caster classes first for more slots. The martials don't give you as much and I think Monk gives you basically nothing.

In theory I should love Druid — I always enjoy taking polymorph on my casters and I'm pretty into animals generally — but somehow I've never felt enough of an urge to make one when I actually sit down to create a character. I guess I haven't quite conceptualized a Druid character I really like yet. But I do want to play one at some point!

As far as I know there's nothing specifically crazy that happens with it, it's just a really good fog: one-sided, plus it generates what can be quite a large board for fairly cheap, regardless of the rest of your board state. So your opponent can attack into what they think is a totally open board and get wrecked. And compared to [[Settle the Wreckage]] which also kinda does that, Settle doesn't improve your board state.

That said, it would not be its current price without scarcity either. It only had one print in a precon a while ago.

If we're talking regulations then regulations on how much corporations can donate to politicians should be top of the list (and ideally that amount should be zero), but obviously both the politicians and the corporations like that donations are totally allowed, making it difficult to pass such things...

Regulations are indeed an important part of managing our system as it is, but they're fundamentally a bandaid to the problems of capitalism.

You gotta catch the corporations doing a bad thing and then tell them not to do it, meanwhile they're buying politicians to fight against you on it. And it still doesn't stop them from committing actions that are horribly unethical and extremely damaging to our society and to the environment, they just tone it down a bit at best, or occasionally they'll have to put a small fraction of their money into a lawsuit without actually changing their behavior.

As a certified Timmy, this is an extremely tempting deck, if only it wasn't so expensive. There are some solid reprints: [[It That Betrays]], [[All is Dust]], [[Forsaken Monument]], [[Lightning Greaves]], [[Kaldra Compleat]]. [[Kozilek, the Great Distortion]] is a little weird to see since he's also in the main set, but still adds a nice amount to the value.

I'd go nuts for this if it was the usual $40, but I hate to support $80 pricing.
