The anti-cheat screen comes up first then the black screen comes. Do you know any solution to this?

- Kiss Launcher
- Neo Launcher
- Simple Launcher
- Ruthless launcher
If you feel like checking out something different, there's Kvaesitso or maybe mLauncher.
I’m using steam flatpak on debian 12. I tried using different versions of proton as well as protonGE. Battlebit opens up and shows a black screen then automatically closes. Any tips on how to fix this are welcome.

Many thanks. May I also ask if there is an alternate frontend client or perhaps an android app for kbin ?

- Create a free Nextdns account.
- Add some blocklists
- Use the private dns settings on your android to set the dns. (i think this feature is present in Android versions which are 9 and above)
Voila ! you have blocked ads without wasting your VPN slot.
As an added bonus you can also configure nextdns to block your specific phone vendor tracking as well.
If you are interested in trying different web browsers you can check out Fennec from F-droid or Brave browser. These are my go-to browsers on android.

Well, by "good" I meant general purpose, no NSFW, federates with bigger instances, consitent uptime .. etc.

I know 2 apps
- Milktea
- Kaiteki
Milktea seemed to work for me when I tried it when Firefish was still called calckey.social. kaiteki app just gave me a blank screen, so can't comment on that.
Anyway, I just use the web app if I use firefish.
I'm just asking for recommendations in case, I feel like migrating to a smaller instance or maybe try kbin for a change (but I'll miss the voyager web app)

Wow, i wasn't aware of this phone until I saw this comment. It reminds me of the Galaxy S5 active.

On my old phone i used Florisboard, it was pretty good and it's FOSS as well.
These days I use the samsung keyboard as I recently switched to a samsung device. The keyboard customizations are really awesome, if you have KeysCafe module installed. Not sure how privacy friendly it is tho.

I have not used kbin yet. Is there any feature that really makes it worth using over Lemmy ? I'm curious as I want to try it out sometime.
P.S - I use Lemmy through wefwef

2 months ago I bought a regular samsung galaxy s23 and it's been running great so far. I expected MIUI levels of bloat, but surprisingly it is not that bad.
I had to disable a few samsung apps and for the most part, the phone stays out of my way and lets me do whatever i want.
I wish the s23 lineup gets good custom rom support. Would love to run a lean LineageOS / any AOSP based rom with MicroG on this phone.

I was under the impression that VPNs can get one banned. Well, since you mentioned I'll give japan a go.
Oh and what vpn's do you recommend / has had really good game experience with ? I have only used mullvad so far.

You can go to their official website and download it - https://f-droid.org/
Personally I prefer to use fdroid through Droid-ify.

Opensuse is great. Yast was more useful than I initially thought.
On a different note - For people who like tinkering, nixos can also be a great option, it also allows rollbacks but doesn't use BTRFS snapshots out of the box like opensuse.
I was only able to play the start of season 17, unfortunately due to lack of time I haven't played apex in a while. I play on the asian servers like singapore. Season 17 felt fresh, but every single game Me and friends were being kicked out of the game or just super laggy... shots werent registering, randomly teleporting to different places.. I understand that not everyone have faced issues like this but I'd like to know how the experience is right now. I want to start playing again this week, if time allows me to do so.

I don't understand why moving to discord is a thing when we have Lemmy serving the exact same purpose as reddit but even better.

Check if 'organic maps' app is available on ios. Thats what i use on android.
Most of my friends play FPS games like Valorant, Apex, CSGO, etc.. Recently everyone has been into some chill co-op games like Borderlands and Payday so I suggested DRG but none of them seems to like it. They have this misconception that, the game is just entirely mining and no shooting. Little do they know, I'm having a blast with fun mods and randoms. Right now DRG is even on steam sale.. I'd love to know how you guys got your friends to give DRG a chance

I tried Liftoff and wefwef. Most of the time I just stick with wefwef, it's a well made web app.

At first, I also told myself that I didn't have the time. Then i tried it.. felt like there's a lot to learn, it was similar to when I first started using Arch.
Originally I intended to remove it after trying for a week, but it's been over 2 months and I have yet to expeience any issue. I'm gonna be staying with this one for a while.

I'm curious how software can last shorter. Could you maybe give me an example ?
The only way i can think of is companies reducing software support.
It's possible that Apple may do this, but for android - it'd just result in a thriving community for Custom ROMs.

Okay. So although all the apps support activitypub - only similar apps can replace each other ( like mastodon with calckey)
Apps with different feature sets will have to remain seperate, but will allow following users from different apps (lemmy and mastodon for instance).
Basically there is no single app that can do everything (as of now)
This is idea that i get after reading through the comments. Please correct me if i'm wrong
I have recently started using fediverse apps, mostly lemmy and mastodon. So far Lemmy is the only one I use the most and kind of understand. On mastodon, i mostly follow news accounts (likely bots). Toots in my feed rarely have any comments. I have been using matrix for messaging long before i have started using other apps in the fediverse. A few days ago I learned about Misskey and Calckey (idk the difference between them) and would like to try those out, but I'm kind of feeling overwhelmed by all these different apps different instances and whatnot. Also i get the impression that there is this issue where some posts in one app is displayed very differently in another app. So is there a way to use any one of these apps (Calckey or misskey for example) and get all my social needs done (including messaging) ? I apologize, if I'm not being clear.

I used tumbleweed for about an year with no problems. The installer was a bit different and not much user friendly but it had a lot of options that i wanted.
I don't know how it was 5 years ago, but these days I think it's doing pretty good. I'd consider it over fedora if I need a rolling release distro.

If you like debian you could try crunchbang++ and Antix.
Or you could install arch or void linux and configure it minimally with xfce or some window manager.
If you want something fresh , checkout nixos. I have had nixos on my desktop for less than a month now and I'm already considering sticking with it for the forseaable future.

I used to suggest linux to my friends and family but i stopped doing that as i found none of them actually cared what OS they ran. They also have a misunderstanding that Linux is very complex and difficult to use.
