There might be public displeasure about it, but I think behind the scenes India buying Russia oil is expected and at least to some degree accepted (or possibly even wanted).

The bigger thing is Russia not generating profits from those sales, which I am speculating is not the case at the prices India is buying at. The upside of Russian oil still being available to the world market is keeping the prices lower, something Europe is very much interested in.

If you are considering them, then I would mention that they have regular and "mini" versions, with the only difference being the size of the headband. I've tried both and personally prefer the smaller size since it doesn't protrude so far in the back, despite not having a particularly small head.

Also since I just got another pair in the mail myself, which kind of helps my point: Found a good deal on a pair of craft shoes (pro Endur distance) and actually ordered in EU45 (a full size smaller than my typical shoes), since the size guide had that listed as equalling 29,5cm. Having them in person now the length seem correct and I have about a thumb width of space. I only have to test if the toebox shape works for my large toe during long runs, but that is something I couldnt really determin in a shop either.

I've read somewhere that horse mats made out of rubber are pretty good flooring for home gyms and cheaper than something marketed towards gym use.

If it can take the full weight of a horse standing on it with its small hoofs, then it should have no issues with any weight you might drop on them during lifting.

Passend dazu habe ich gerade erst gestern ein sehr interessantes Interview im "In Good Company" Podcast gehört zwischen Nicolai Tangen (Verwaltet den Norwegischen Staatsfond) und Robin Zeng (Gründer und CEO von CATL, dem größten Batteriehersteller der Welt):

Das gesamte Interview ist empfehlenswert, aber ich finde speziell den Abschnitt ab Minute 7 relevant für deinen Punkt.

Dabei geht es genau darum, wie der Rest der Welt mit China im Bereich der Batterieforschung mithalten kann. Und seine Antwort ist letztlich, genau wie du sagst, anfangend bei den Universitäten. Besonders deprimierend dabei ist, die Anektdote, dass das schon vor 12 Jahren bei einem Besuch von Angela Merkel Thema war.

Alternativ, weil es ja gerade auch in der Debatte ist, wären das mehr als eine 10€ Erhöhung des Preises für das Deutschlandticket im Jahr einbringen würde.

Die im Artikel insgesamt genannten Mehrkosten für Autobahnprojekte würden für ein Jahrzehnt reichen.

Zusätzlich muss man finde ich auch bedenken, dass andere Länder wahrscheinlich subventionieren/fördern. Einen wirklich fairen Markt wird es in dieser hinsicht also nicht geben. Und wie du sagst es ist definitiv eine gesamtgesellschaftlich wichtige Schlüsseltechnologie, bei der man ein gewissen Grad an Know-How im Land haben will.

Ich glaube ja, dass es dass damit komplett vorbei ist und nicht nur für 2 Jahre verzögert. Aber wenn nicht, kann mir jemand erklären wie das ablaufen würde?

Planen sie dann den selben Fertigungsprozess mit 2 Jahren Verzögerung aufzubauen, wodurch er dann nicht mehr ganz leading edge wäre, sondern eben eher Standard Technik. Oder würde man mit der Verzögerung auch den geplanten Fertigungsprozess anpassen auf das, was 2 Jahre später aktuell wäre?

TSMC baut wie gesagt schon in Dresden, aber halt keine leading edge Fab, sondern eine mit simpleren Prozessen, wie sie z.B. in der Autoindustrie genutzt werden.

Die davon zu überzeugen eine leading edge Fab außerhalb von Taiwan zu bauen wird aber sehr schwer. Selbst die etwas moderneren Fabs die sie derzeit in den USA in Arizona subventioniert bauen werden zwar moderner sein, aber halt nicht der zum Zeit der Fertigstellung aktuelle Stand der Technik (sind glaube doch etwas näher an der leading edge als ich gedacht hatte mit geplanten 2nm). Anders als das mit Intel der Fall gewesen wäre.

Welche ISA ein Prozessor nutzt, also z.B. RISC V, x86 oder ARM, ist der Fab egal. In dieser Hinsicht gibt es keine Spezialisierung. Das liegt auf der Seite der Chipdesigner, wie z.b. AMD, Nvidia, Qualcomm oder Apple, die mit dem Design dann zu den Fabs gehen, um es produzieren zu lassen.

Das war genau meine Reaktion, als ich damals zum ersten Mal vom Innovator's Dilemma gelernt habe.

Leider scheint es sowohl in der Wirtschaft, als auch der Politik, ähnliche strukturelle Defizite zu geben, die genau bei solchen Problem versagen.

Most online stores for running shoes have pretty good return policies, so i'd just buy from those that allow returns. But i've only had to use returns once or twice between my many orders. Tbh i've only ever bought my first pair locally, felt ripped off paying 140€ for a pair of asics gt-2000 and ever since ordered online without issues.

You want them to be comfortable and with roughly 1 thumb width of space in the front. Also lacing matters a lot. I've had shoes hurt after a few km running, because i laced them too tightly. Which was fine at the start, but during your run your feet will swell up a bit (that is also what the extra space in front helps with).

As said for me the thing that works is to google a size chart for the model and not go by EU sizes, but cm (or JPN sizing, which equals cm). Those are very consistent between brands. For example my "main" brand is probably saucony where i have a EU46, which correlates to 29,5cm. I had my Brooks Hyperion tempo in EU45,5, which for brooks is 29,5cm. And i had 3 pairs of puma so far (2 velocity, 1 liberate nitro) all in 46 that in reality are actually a bit long, which tracks with the fact that for puma EU46 is 30cm. So i know i ideally want 29,5cm with 30cm being fine (but anything shorter doesnt work).

Beyond that it is just minor fit differences, e.g. altra shoes have wide toe boxes, nike are said to run a bit narrow and so on. Usually you can learn these from a decent review, if they mention it.

That said for this to work you need to either know your shoe size at least once. Either from your old shoes, trying some in store, or you estimate with the guides on online sites (and return if they end up the wrong size).

As for which type of shoes to buy, unless you have a rotation of multiple shoes you'll probably just want a decent and versatile daily trainer, which basically every brand offers.

I usually get around 1200km out of my pairs, but I also tend use them longer than ideal. Some will last longer than others, e.g. I had a pair of saucony triumph were the foam held up very well.

Generally it is not the upper or outsole that makes retiring the shoes necessary (they'll still look visually fine), but the midsole going flat. Which is kind of the point for which one buys specialised running shoes: the shock absorption and energy return the midsole foam provides.

For me the sign that a shoe is nearing the end of its useful life is usually that I start feeling the impact more in my knees after longer runs. But imo getting a second pair and still using the older one occasionally let's you get a bit more mileage out of your shoes. Also helps with comparing new vs old.

Generally I agree that running shoes are expensive, and I was surprised how much it ends up costing if you run serious mileage. But there are ways to save money and I usually spend between 50-80€ on my daily trainers, which is roughly a bit below half of the sticker price.

Buy online, look for sales at the end of the season and before new releases, buy last years models, and be flexible. For buying online to get the size right look at the cm sizing (or jpn sizes that equal cm), which for me so far has always been spot on, where EU sizes very. Also some models are usually good value, like for example the puma velocity nitro (version 1,2 or 3 doesn't matter too much so, all are solid).

Innovator's Dilemma at work. Ironischerweise hätte wohl mehr und härtere Regulierung, statt das Subventionen und das Anfassen mit Samthandschuhen, der deutschen Autoindustrie langfristig geholfen.

Wie sieht das eigentlich hier in Deutschland mit Überproduktion aus? Aus Frankreich gab es ja letztes Jahr die Geschichte, wie sie den Winzern 200mio gezahlt haben, damit sie Wein vernichten Quelle.

Wenn es in Deutschland ähnlich aussieht mit zuviel Kapazitäten, dann ist das natürlich schade, aber letztlich regelt halt der Markt. Und ich sehe keinen Grund dagegen anzukämpfen, das ist definitiv keine Schlüsselindustrie. Der Artikel erwähnt ja außerdem, dass es durchaus auch Gründe gibt, die bei den deutschen Winzern selbst liegen.

I am also from Germany and get payed for donating thrombocytes at my university hospital. The compensation is actually quite substantial imo at (up to) 75€ per session, which can be done every two weeks. The money is however mean to offset the time required, not the thrombocytes donated. So it is correlated to how long it takes.

You get 15€ (?) for up to 15min (if they have to abort very early for some reason or at your first visit where they just draw blood to test), 50€ for up to 1h (which equals to 1 instead of 2 pack of thrombocytes, usually done at your first real donation or if you maybe dont have enough for 2 on this particular day), and 75€ for anything over 1h (which is the norm).

Timewise the hospital is on the outskirts of the city, so most will have to travel a bit, then you have to fill out forms, have a quick talk with the doctor, and finally depending on your parameters it takes anywhere from ~55-70min to extract, during which you are tethered to a machine (which takes out some blood, then seperates out the thrombocytes with a centrifuge, pumps back the rest, and repeat).

One could get philosophical about the topic, but from a practical perspective the money makes a lot of sense imo:

• It costs them a lot of money to investigate new prospects, so you want reliable repeat donors

• Each donation already has other costs associated with it. Like for example the kit used during extraction, the staff handling everything and so on. So even those 75€ are just one more expense among many, and from donation to usage probably vanish in the overall costs.

• For the donor it is quite a substantial time commitment, especially when done regularly every two weeks. Unlike for example full blood donations you'd maybe do twice a year. And you should be reliable and not randomly cancel at the last second, so ideally it also has priority over some other things in your life.

• the small amount of blood that remains inside the machine is sometimes used for other research (if you agree to it, which i do)

From my own experience i can say that i might still do it without, but certainly not at the same frequency. And considering the time and effort required i don't think anyone could be blamed for doing it less frequently without the incentive. So at least in this case it imo is a fair trade and net positive. Although it does also help that this is a university hospital that directly uses it themselves, rather than a for profit company.

Wo hat es dich denn hin verschlagen? Gibt sicher Länder wo es durch Reichtum und Abschottung noch etwas besser aussieht, aber der generelle Trend ist denke ich global.

Wenn man die Löhne externer Dienstleister mit einrechnen muss, ist das kein Problem.

Ich habe das Gefühl, dass man dann je nach Umsetzung letztlich immer bei einem Mindestlohnarbeiter als niedrigst bezahlter Person landen würde. Und wie handhabt man multinationale Unternehmen? Irgendjemand muss z.B. immer die Toilettenputzen und wird dafür wahrscheinlich schlecht bezahlt. Entweder die Person ist direkt angestellt, es macht ein externer Dienstleister oder es gibt noch mehr abstraktionen dazwischen (z.B. das Büro wird "all-inklusive" angemietet und der Vermieter beauftragt eine weitere Firma).

Da könnte man dann schon fast einfach einen maximal Lohn festlegen. Was wieder zu dem Thema führen würde, dass Gewinne aus Kapital und existierendes Vermögen noch relevanter würden.

Das muss halt auch vernünftig besteuert werden.

Der Spitzensteuersatz gehört abgeschafft, denn die Deckelung der Steuerprogression bevorteilt Reiche gegenüber Armen.

Pack noch eine Reform der Erbschaftssteuer dazu und ich denke wir kommen einer gerechten Verteilung sehr viel näher, als es die komplexe Umsetzung einer Lohndeckelung täte.

Staatliche “Unternehmen” sollten keine Unternehmen sein, sondern Behörden. Der Sinn dieser Einrichtungen ist es nicht, Gewinn zu machen, sondern eine für die Gesellschaft essentielle Dienstleistung zu erbringen. Die obszönen Gehälter in den Führungsebenen der privatwirtschaftlich organisietrten Staatsunternehmen sind übrigens ein Phänomen aus der Privatwirtschaft. Das Gehalt dieser Leute sagt absolut nichts über deren Fähigkeiten aus, es beschreibt nur deren Gier. Wenn man nicht Unsummen für irgendwelche unnötigen Schlipse aus dem Fenster schmeißen muss, kann man vielleicht mit dem gesparten Geld die Arbeitsbedingungen für das arbeitende Personal besser machen, was die Jobs wieder attraktiver macht.

Da stimme ich dir zu, deswegen habe ich sie ja erwähnt als Beispiel, wo ich soetwas durchaus als sinnvoll erachten würde.

Kind of late, since i just came around to seeing it. Some thoughts:

• I really liked the visuals and i'm glad i got to see it in the cinema on a really good screen, so more or less the best possible experience. But i agree that the Rook animatronic looked a bit off (i'd have to rewatch it again).

• As someone else already mentioned i also liked the dystopian setting of the first act.

• I liked that they were leaning more into the horror, rather than action genre. But imo unlike the first Alien movie it had a few too many jump scares and overused the xenomorphs. Where the original was able to build tension with what you can't see, here you had a whole pack of them. And somehow they get mowed down way too easily.

• Agreed that there were too many callbacks and easter eggs, rather than letting the movie stand on its own. Especially the Ripley line was just too obvious and imo breaks the immersion into the movie.

• Not a huge fan of the third act

So einfach stelle ich mir das tatsächlich nicht vor. Putzkraft einstellen vs einen externen Dienstleister bezahlen, wie handhabt man soetwas? Manchmal wäre es klar nur zum Umgehen der Regel, aber ab und zu halt auch die sinnvollste Lösung für ein Unternehmen.

Eventuell kann es funktionieren, aber ich glaube es wäre faktisch extrem kompliziert und tatsächlich je nach Umsetzung für Deutschland ein potentieller Standortnachteil.

Unabhängig davon muss man dann allerdings auch den mMn viel wichtigeren nächsten Schritt weiter denken: Wenn man den Chefs weniger zahlt, wo hin fließt dann das Geld? Das die Unternehmen ihre Waren günstiger anbieten würden bezweifele ich etwas, das die Niedriglohnarbeiter davon etwas sehen ehrlich gesagt auch. Am wahrscheinlichsten würde es einfach als zusätzlicher Gewinn bei den Eigentümern landen. Und das kann ja nicht wirklich zweck der Sache sein.

Das ist finde ich eine ähnliche Situation wie man sie bei den obszönen Gehältern mancher Schauspieler oder Sportler hat. Da werden zig Millionen verdient, die ebenfalls nicht im Verhältnis dazu stehen, wieviel z.B. eine Kassiererin an der Supermarktkasse verdient, die auch ihre limitierte Lebenszeit aufwendet. Aber das Geld wird ja durch Einnahmen generiert. Wenn es also nicht dort ausgezahlt würde, dann flösse es zu den Eigentümern, die noch reicher sind.

Anstelle der vorgeschlagenen Regelung wäre ich deshalb für einen höheren Spitzensteuersatz, der aber erst bei den wirklichen Topverdienern einsetzt. Und vor allem einfach auf der Vermögensseite ansetzen, aber hier ebenfalls erst dort wo es Richtung echtem Generationenvermögen geht. Das fände ich sehr viel simpler.

Wo der Ansatz allerdings mehr Sinn macht wäre bei staatlichen Stellen oder auch im öffentlichen Rundfunk bzw. Staatsunternehmen wie der Bahn. Denn hier würden ja im letzten die Ersparnisse nicht bei irgendwelchen privaten Eigentümern landen, sondern direkt der Allgemeinheit zugute kommen. Und oft sehe ich dort auch nicht wirklich das Problem, dass man nur mit extremen Gehältern gegenüber der privatwirtschaft bestehen kann

Dann werden einfach extra Unternehmen gegründet. Entweder zum auslagern der Niedriglohnarbeiter oder eine Holding zur Verwaltung in der die Führungsriege sitzt.

Das ist entweder wirklich erschreckende Inkompetenz auf Seiten der Politik oder aber da war Korruption im Spiel.

100% Korruption bzw. "Lobbyismus", wenn man einen netter klingenden Euphemismus nutzen will.

Leider kann man ja als Laie bei solch komplexen Themen nur spekulieren, aber unabhängig von Anteile Verkaufen/Behalten, sieht das ganze für mich halt auch wieder einfach nicht nach einem großartigen Deal aus. Besonders in Hinblick darauf, mit welchen Summen der Staat normalerweise hantiert und dass Hamburg ein einmalig großer und wichtiger Hafen für uns als Exportnation ist.

Im Gegenzug will MSC ihr Ladungsaufkommen an den HHLA-Terminals vom kommenden Jahr an erhöhen und bis 2031 auf eine Million Standardcontainer pro Jahr fast verdoppeln.

Ist ja sicher ganz nett, aber ich spekuliere mal, dass der Hafen dafür im Umkehrschluss vieleicht für Konkurrenten unattraktiver wird? Das würde diesen Gewinn schonmal schmälern. Und ganz generell sollte man doch hoffentlich auch so kompetitiv sein ohne Anteile an den Kunden verkaufen zu müssen. Langfristig kann man den Trick nämlich nur einmal machen, nochmal die gleichen Anteile verkaufen geht nicht.

Naja, irgendeine Deutschlandzentrale werden sie wahrscheinlich schon haben oder? Wird sicher etwas netter und gibt ein paar extra Arbeitsplätze, aber substantiell etwas daran ändern wo sie Steuern zahlen (bzw. es vermeiden) wird das doch auch nicht. Wird also wirklich nur bei den extra Einnahmen der paar Arbeitsplätze bleiben. Die Arbeit im Hafen kann so oder so nur lokal erledigt werden, gäbe also nur ein paar extra Koordinatioren als Zugewinn. Kann mir nicht vorstellen, dass da groß Zulieferketten oder so dranhängen, wordurch es einen positiven Knock-on-Effekt gäbe.

Lese ich das richtig und es würde nur ein Teil dieses extra Eigenkapitals von MSC kommen und der Rest von der Stadt als zweitem Eigentümer? Wär dann ja vermutlich nur die Hälfte basierend auf den neuen Eigentumsverhältnissen. Auf unsere gesamte Nation gesehen ist das doch eine lächerlich geringe Summe. Da verbrennt ja ein Scheuer ohne externen Zwang mehr für sinnlose Aktionen wie das Mautdebakel.

Not denying that Germany faces serious issues, but using Intel as an example to show Germany's national problems imo is just wrong. Ifthey want to make that connection they better provide some evidence showing this move isn't purely motivated by the internal problems Intel currently faces, which recently have been in the news quite a bit.

Now if TSMC suddenly decides to cancel their new German fab (admittedly not leading edge like Intel's would have been), then it's a point taken.

I also have regular problems with some subtitles. My solution is to enable using an external player in the jellyfin AndroidTV app (i think its under playback->advanced options) and then use VLC player which i've also installed to play the movie. That has never failed to me.

Downside is that unlike the regular exo player i don't think it supports dolby vision, so i have to change this setting back and forth occasionally. It used to be that there was an option that you could tick, so it asked you everytime which player to use before playing a movie (with the downside that it couldn't resume playing at a saved timestamp), but after a somewhat recent update this went away.

Ja, der Zugang zu den Apps wird sich kaum verhindern lassen. Was das Verbot natürlich etwas sinnlos macht, weil das für Kriminelle kein Problem sein wird. Aber die Privatsphäre und Sicherheit der Allgemeinheit, die auf Komfort setzt, wird reduziert.

Und es wird selbst die technikaffinen betreffen, die sich das herunterladen, weil man eben auch mit anderen z.b. den Großeltern kommunizieren will.

Genau meine Art von Humor: ein verschlüsseltes Netzwerk in ein anderes Land aufbauen, um den wegen Verschlüsselung verboten Messenger herunterzuladen.

Aber logisch gesehen macht das ganze halt eh keinen Sinn. Verschlüsselung ist in vielen Bereichen zwingend notwendig, beim Online-Banking, für Passwörter, Unternehmensinterna, Schutz vor Malware und so weiter. Das macht viele Verbrechen nur einfacher. Aber sobald es eine Form von Verschlüsselung gibt, die erlaubt und möglich ist, kann man halt zwangsweise nicht mehr wissen was da übertragen wird.

Seems like the exact problem that could happen with anything, but ofc shouldn't. Because it really is such a simple mistake that anyone with a brain, who is in charge of making those decisions, should look at the plans and see it. There for sure are systemic issues, if something this basic can fall through the cracks.

Hier der Hamburger Hafen, bei der Bahn Schenker, man sollte meinen, dass wir als Exportnation ein besonderes Interesse daran hätten zumindest ein gewisses Grad an Einfluss über unsere Transport-Infrastruktur behalten zu wollen.
