Oh if the rapture people's idea of god is the right one, I'm definitely not getting into heaven. But that's ok, heaven would be full of people I'd never want to hang out with anyway.

I'm not big on violence, and I don't enjoy hitting people, but I've done it a couple of times and I'm always willing to throw down with nazis. If we're not willing to defend ourselves and others, we might as well just hand them the keys and let them do whatever they want. That's gonna be a hard no for me.

I mean, if there's a fully functional way to order online, why would you call? I just prefer a phone call when something would take paragraphs to explain or if there really isn't an easy way to do something via a website/email.

My coworker spent 30 minutes trying to find another way to contact a vendor after I told her the easiest way to order the thing she needed was just to call and it would take 2 minutes. I hate calling too, but that's just dumb. Or maybe I just like efficiency more than I hate the phone.

I'm pretty firm on my stance that we should punch all nazis, but I'm not sure this "genetically superior" specimen would even feel it past all her filler.

Oh I don't feel like I need to be welcoming to people who have no intention of listening and are just there to be dicks. I just don't want to push away anyone who might be open to the idea of changing their diet by immediately telling them what a terrible person they are for not doing it already. It's important to me not just to reduce the harm I do, but to try to minimize it elsewhere if I can.

Well let's not pretend people don't routinely use the downvote as a disagree button. And you'll notice I never said the mod in question was 100% right or wrong, just that I can see how people on both sides end up angry.

Wait wait, but conservatives won't shut the fuck up about how women hit the wall at 30. How can Taylor be both young and pretty and also in her mid-30s? Have they been lying to us this whole time? Crazy.

Not to be all "not like the other girls" about veganism, but I kind of hate the general vegan communities. They always end up turning into a who can hate meat eaters the most contest and the less extreme members usually leave. It's also really frustrating because the goal should be to get more people eating plant based, and their methods just push people away. Yeah, of course I believe people should stop eating meat, and I struggle to understand how someone can acknowledge the cruelty of factory farming and turn around and eat a burger, but shouting them down isn't accomplishing anything. I'm not going to engage with the people who show up just to talk shit, but I'm down to talk to anyone actually open to a conversation.
That said, there are a lot of people who think it's suuuuper funny to seek out vegan communities to make the same tired ass comments that lead to vegans becoming angrier and more insular, so I really don't want to make this a Vegans Bad comment. I get the desire to tell people to fuck off. It's exhausting to try to talk about a news article and be constantly drowned out by trolls.
OP, I don't know what your comment said, but you know whether or not you were engaging in good faith. Maybe you deserved the ban, maybe not. I just think maybe sometimes we could all stand to keep scrolling.

That's exactly what he was put there to do. Well, that and just generally disrupt the postal service enough to push people to their more expensive competitors. It's dramatic but I always joke that he's my nemesis. I'm just grateful that we have ballot drop boxes all over in CO where I live so that people don't have to depend on the mail.

Oh yeah this one. Plus, wear a hat. My hairstylist found skin cancer on my scalp a year or two ago and now I have a bald spot where they removed it because scalp skin doesn't have a whole lot of excess to close a wound. So cute. Thankfully, I can hide it, but it pretty much requires me to wear my hair up every day.
Eta: I feel like it should go without saying, but maybe doesn't, that I was incredibly lucky that it was basal cell, not melanoma. A big scar is one of the best outcomes I could've had.

My dog likes to come stick her tongue directly up my nose in the morning. I'm not sure if that's better or worse than licking the pillow. Though her tongue is much smaller than Ghost's, so at least there's that.

They'd have to care that there are crises to bother trying to fix them. Trump only cares about his personal problems and I'm pretty sure Vance is some kind of robot with bad AI who will just stop charging himself if things get too bad.

I'm glad most of my dogs have been small enough to carry when they get old. I guess if they hadn't been, I'd just have to be a lot stronger so I could lift them. I mean, I'd obviously never leave them to sleep on their own after years of sleeping in my bed.

I work with local-level politicians and we constantly complain about the ones that don't do the reading. At our level, they nearly all have other jobs, so I get it, but we LOVE when they actually read what we give them and can ask relevant questions. It's a thousand times better than the ones that just sit there and embarrass themselves every time they open their mouths.

The thing that draws me to him is the he seems like the kind of person who actually got in to politics because he wanted to help people, and he didn't become cynical and give up when he figured out all the roadblocks that are in the way of that goal. He seems like he still genuinely cares about people and wants everyone to have a better life, not just a small in-group.

I have a sword (tbh it's kind of Spanish mall ninja shit, if the mall was a factory catering to tourists who want sharp souvenirs) and it's not even that big, but it's heavy. I know how many swords I can carry and the answer is one until I get tired. Then none.

Hard no. My day job is in government and I cannot take one more meeting in my life. I've attended some of the HOA meetings and they were actually worse than pretty much every meeting I have at work, because they last forever and the stakes are so stupid.

I finally got a 12 foot skeleton but our stupid HOA doesn't allow Halloween decorations before 10/1. I think I need a festive fall outfit for it so I can say it's not Halloween, it's just seasonal.

I tried a piece of kibble when I was a kid, mostly because it bothered my mom and I thought it was funny. It wasn't good, but it wasn't the worst thing I've ever eaten. Most of my dogs have eaten pretty much whatever you offer them, except (of course) my chihuahua. She'd eat buffalo sauce but not a carrot. When she lost all her teeth, she'd eat a flavor of wet food happily for like, a week, and then refuse to touch it ever again, so I don't think it was the food being gross as much as it was her being a picky little shit.

We had a local candidate who wouldn't shut the hell up about being part of a silent majority and then he lost the election in a landslide. Even if there hadn't been two conservatives splitting the vote, it wouldn't have been close, and you could tell it just broke his brain a little bit. He made a statement about how he was so shocked - he really believed there were all these voters out there supporting his bigotry quietly but never making themselves known, and he couldn't fathom that they just didn't exist. Meanwhile, he seemed to think that the huge amount of negative feedback he got from real live human beings couldn't possibly be significant. Unfortunately, that lesson didn't stick and he still shows up to meetings to publicly embarrass himself occasionally.

This is actually a thing I've experienced. The dog has been dead for 4 years. Obviously, I'm friends with my dog, so it reminds me of her birthday (couple days ago) and then I remember that this account exists and they won't let me delete it. I tried to report her as deceased and it wanted an obituary.

Disgusting. You should be ashamed of yourself. Wanting to feed the children without even making sure you get a solid day's work in the mines out of them first?! Teaching them to read wastes valuable time that they could be laboring, and it might give them ideas like, "wait I'm 8, maybe I shouldn't work 14 hours a day."

Christ he's insufferable. Casting abusers and assholes isn't edgy or interesting, it's just obnoxious. Then again, everything I've heard about this movie seems like Coppola was too busy sniffing his own farts to make something people might actually want to watch.

The fact that conservatives can't fathom why someone would be kind to kids without wanting to have sex with them is really upsetting. I know they tell on themselves all the time, but damn, they could just save time and admit they're pedophiles.

For me, agreed. I live in a desert, work a sedentary job, and spend the vast majority of my time freezing in the ac because I'm not warm unless it's like 76 degrees. My skin is happier if I skip a day and I try to save water whenever possible. But for other people, they know their stink levels better than me, and I'm not gonna tell anybody else how to wash themselves. Unless they're like my ex, taking 2 or 3 showers a day for literally no reason and running up the water bill in, again, a damn desert. I did tell him to knock that off.

Yeah, my teachers would've been pretty concerned if I couldn't spell July in 4th grade (instead they were like, "she's super book smart but holy shit she has zero social skills," on all my report cards). But I guess you never know what else was going on. I have a friend with a learning disability who is smart but still can't spell even as an adult. Some of my other friends are way smarter than me and spelling just isn't their strong suit for whatever reason.

Not mine but my sister's school - it was the first year the school was open and they had full length stalls in the bathroom. And then a couple months into the school year, a girl gave a boy a blowjob in one of them and of course they got caught. And that's why the school got rid of the full length stalls very shortly after installing them. There were only a few hundred kids enrolled at that point, so of course everyone found out about it and any time someone mentioned that poor girl's name for the next 4 years, it was, "oh the one who sucked [guy]'s dick?"
I'm going to a conference next week and while they asked everyone for dietary preferences, I don't have high hopes based on experience (sure, I'd love another "salad" that's just iceberg with no dressing!), so I'm trying to plan ahead and bring some things with me so I don't starve. Unfortunately, the hotel room doesn't have a microwave, just a mini-mini-fridge and I'm bringing my small kettle, so I mostly have to stick to things that can be stored/eaten at room temp, or prepared with just hot water. So far, I have some soy curl jerky to take to long sessions, a couple of ramen bowls, and some bread and packets of almond butter, but I'm kind of out of ideas. There is a Trader Joe's within walking distance, so I can at least grab some fruit or salad when I get a chance, but is there anything else I'm not thinking of that I should pack and/or plan to buy? The conference is a full week, so I'd prefer not to eat crap (like the ramen) the whole time if I can help it.
Finally sprung for the 12lb bag because we love these things. I usually make buffalo soy curls and throw them on a salad or mac and cheese, or make lemon "chicken" orzo with them, but I'm open to other suggestions from anyone else who likes them since I have enough for about the next decade.
I don't do much handheld gaming, but I'm going to have some overseas flights and long-ish train rides later this year, and may also be having surgery that will keep me fairly bedbound for about a month. I'm just not sure how much money it's worth spending on a deck that I likely won't use much outside of those specific cases - I bought a switch when I got covid in 2020 and used it a ton at the time but I've only used it a few times since, though I miiight use a deck a bit more just because I already have a pretty extensive steam library. Is it better to stick to the cheapest model or is there enough of a difference that it might be worth spending a little more for a nicer one?
This is one of the first kits I got really excited about and I finally grabbed it on Black Friday. I've never done buttonhole stitch and it's a lot of fun now that I have the hang of it. It's a party at my house, as you can see.
Yeah, definitely don't put any of those profits toward a living wage though. Make your employees trauma dump for the chance at a few extra bucks! Probably comes as an Amazon gift card, too.
I don't know how to cross stitch (and did absolutely zero research before starting this kit), but this is a mood, especially after I realized I miscounted and put the s one space off and now have to pull it back out.
Well...mostly. I need to fill in a couple of gaps on the bear, but I lost my mind and decided to try to finish a whole new pattern by 10/1 so I'll have to worry about that later. I'm overall really happy with how both came out. I can see mistakes up close, but I think from a distance, they're both nice. Also, this was before ironing both, please disregard any wonky satin stitch - the thread moves when I wash off the pattern.
