Everyone, please start using this mag for it's intended purpose: "to ask and answer thought-provoking questions across the fediverse!" Not about bugs on Kbin.

Notice people are using this mag as a support desk when it's purpose is like what AskReddit was. In the bio here it says: > > > Your place to ask and answer thought-provoking questions across the fediverse! > > The fact that Kbin keeps logging you out is not a thought-provoking question, it's a bug related question that doesn't belong here. Try [@kbinmeta](https://kbin.social/m/kbinmeta) or something. Not here. Thanks.

TIL about the Puss Caterpillar, it may look harmless with its soft and furry appearance, but it conceals venomous spines that can cause excruciating pain upon contact that even morphine struggles to en.wikipedia.org

    > > > "The inch-long larva is generously coated in long, luxuriant hair-like setae, making it resemble a tiny Persian cat, the characteristic that presumably gave it the name "puss". It is variable in color, from downy grayish white to golden brown to dark charcoal gray. It often has a streak of bright orange running longitudinally. The "fur" on early-stage larvae is sometimes extremely curly, giving them a cottony, puffed-up look. The body tapers to a tail that extends well beyond the body, unlike its relative M. crispata.[4] The middle instar has a more disheveled, "bad-hair-day" appearance, without a distinctive tail. The "fur" of the larva contains venomous spines that cause extremely painful reactions in human skin upon contact. The adult moth is covered in long fur in colors ranging from dull orange to lemon yellow, with hairy legs and fuzzy black feet. " - wikipedia > >

What is the worst thing you've ever seen? Either online or IRL? (trigger warning)

(trigger warning: sensitive topics. if you cannot handle it, please do not read) for me, the worst thing I have ever seen was that video of that girl accidentally shooting her cousin on instagram (?) live, killing him instantly, then panicking and shooting herself. it randomly popped into my head today and i felt lots of dread. it was extremely tragic. i have seen a handful of gore videos, and i hate gore, but no gore i have ever seen felt more tragic than what happened to those two kids. edit: do not link gore videos.

I watched 1 & 2 recently and was impressed by the sfx in it, it was cool. I didnt really enjoy #2 as much as #1, it felt super silly, especially how Pinhead immediately switched gears at the word human lol.

Isn't there a risk of accidental water inhalation when swimming instructors throw babies into the water to teach them how to swim?

Occasionally, I will see a video posted of an instructor throwing a baby into water and watching them flounder about until they right themselves and float. The comments are a mix of "that's terrible, what is the instructor doing?" and "you guys are clueless, this is how they train the babies." My question is, while tossing babies in the water after training may be the standard, and might save their life one day, isn't there a risk that they will inhale water when being randomly dunked under water and panicking? I know humans innately stop inhaling when in water until we can't hold our breath anymore, including babies to an extent, but I don't know if babies are as capable of this as a grown human. Especially when they do NOT expect being dunked under. I've seen adults and kids not expect that, and they end up coughing out tons of water. If water gets in the lungs, can't it kill you? Cause a lung infection? "Dry drowning"? I never see this talked about in relation to the baby swim training.

just watched oculus due to this recommendation, wild fucking ride. very enjoyable and unique. was glad to not see another supernatural formulaic jump-scare based 'horror' movie. has its flaws, but i recommend it to others.
