It's a pretty bad-ass design, my dream one day is to get a MUCH larger 3D printer so I can print them larger than 10-inch in diameter. Maybe I'll take the time to make molds which I can use to cast larger ones out of solid concrete.

Love purple pitcher plants. I 3D print bog planters (imagine a pot intended to keep water swampy) and they love it. I actually just propagated the plant to make another pitcher plant in another freshly printed pot - they're so fun.

The brewery I hang out at sells the onewheels - they're an authorized dealer. The brewer and co-owners all have XR's which they ride all around town. It sounds great, they use them often.....

Except when you talk to them about their injuries... One guy fell and broke his wrist once, another guy broke and cracked a rib, the brewer broke his shoulder one time, then his wrist another time.

    Yet they still ride them!!

I got a pint - rode it a few times until I few off once and haven't ridden it since. I'm looking forward to selling it soon enough.

Everyone has a unique identifier. If you don't share that with anyone, how would they know who's vote it is? Couldn't the number be randomized and a new UUID provided on a routine basis?

Every American has a Social Security number, but it's not exactly like we're told to broadcast it to the world...... I don't see why something like that couldn't be implemented here using technology.

My point is the general ledger technology of the blockchain which would be beneficial here.

But of course this is all a pipe dream. America is damn near a Kleptocracy and both political parties have written laws to prevent a third political party from ever arising.

I'd love to see that happen, But it's because America won't switch to a direct democracy. Instead we have a Kleptocracy run by corporations and the 1% who have power over both parties in America. However if it were possible to create a third political party where every member of the party earns only one vote maybe it would give people power back over corporations. But it's a pipe dream, I know it'll never happen.

I personally envision a future where we use blockchain technology to create a new direct democracy party in which every member has a unique identifier and the blockchain ledger system used to track polling data. Every individual member of the party would have one vote in each poll at ever level (federal, state, regional, etc) - for every single thing that gets a vote, and the elected politician representing that party would be required to vote based on the polling data.

Everyone would have access to a copy of the ledger to confirm their votes are counted accurately, and they can review polling data to confirm their elected politicians are voting based on polling data, and the representative would be replaced if they do not adhere to the results

I'm not talking about "habitable" either. I'm talking no countertops, no tile flooring, no mouldings, no finishings whatsoever. It is an empty "unfinished" shell with the intention that the buyer who moves into the home will fully furnish everything, including all the cabinets etc to match their personal tastes.

This indeed was a scam to sell fake investment properties to the up-and-coming Chinese middle class. There are entire ghost towns full of these investment properties that nobody will move into because there is zero other infrastructure for any residents if they actually moved into the property lol. It's kinda bizarre and insane that the government allowed it to happen for so long.

That's kinda a cultural thing (which I'm not so certain wasn't part of the ruse itself).

Long story short, supposedly the Chinese "want" the clean empty slate so they can "customize" the home to meet their desires. People were told that they need investment properties because that's what westerners are doing to make money. Simply buy an "empty unfinished home" and eventually someone is going to want to buy that property in the future and you'll be rich!

I downloaded Mandrake Linux back in 1992. I've always fiddled with linux over the years but could never fulfill all my needs. But things have changed recently. I've started using ChatGPT to help me when I hit roadblocks with Linux, and it's REALLY helped work around the various barriers that have kept me from fully adopting linux. Honestly, I am looking forward to switching entirely over to Linux for my business - I'm tired of Windows. And I've been here since Win3.1!!

A real-life babble-fish would make life a million times easier when visiting her family who doesn't speak English (I assume, since I know that AI including Chat is capable of translating to and from the language fairly well with good grammar, but I doubt that it would be able to easily synthesize speech patterns for a rare language compared to converting their language to English. But I could be wrong lol.

TL/DR - they're using mini solar tower collectors to concentrate and collect sunlight to charge PV panels. This produces a lot of excess heat (enough to melt steel) - the heat is pumped away via water into an underground vault where the heat is stored until the evening where the heat is converted back into electricity using conventional off-the-shelf materials and hardware.

Yeah, weather patterns are shifting everywhere. The thing to remember is that "climate" is a measurement of weather over time.

Humans can adapt easier than plants to climate change - we can move to different locations while plants are basically stuck unless we humans relocate them. The growing zones where people can grow different fruits/vegetables/herbs is changing. Sometimes too rapidly and even humans can't keep track of what they can/should grow (and when to plant it). It's now getting too hot in some regions for even tropical trees/plants to grow using photosynthesis (https://www.sciencenews.org/article/leaves-tropical-forests-photosynthesis-heat-limit) .

So while the local weather may be feeling different and you could possibly start growing different plants in your region, there's no guarantee that the weather patterns will be the same in five years.

In my own region people are pushing growing zones, growing exotic tropical plants outdoors most of the year then protecting them from harsher weather. Heck I found a guy who is successfully growing a slightly cold-tolerant variety of edible bananas (called blue java) in North Carolina!! No way that would have been possible 100 years ago. Or another example - Cocoa Florida was too cold to grow cocoa beans back when the town was originally founded, but the climate has now warmed up enough that people are starting to grow real cocoa trees in Cocoa! hahaha. (yes, I geek out about weird sh!t like zone-pushing edible plants lol).

As I keep reminding people "At the start of every disaster movie, there's a scientist being ignored"

Or I'm sure if Russia keeps the land, they'll simply mine it anyways and who gives a hoot about the health of government workers mining resources for the motherland, right?? /s

[Shower Thought] I was never "good" at Linux CLI, ChatGPT has helped tremendously

I'll be honest, I've always tinkered with ubuntu and even older versions of linux (Anyone remember Mandrake? Yeah I'm old lol), I had even built my own HTPC at one point many many years ago. But I always encountered problems that frustrated me forcing me to eventually abandon the OS in favor of something new. For example, installing programs or drivers that weren't in the software manager GUI, checking USB and device connections, etc. I was a windows guy and I hate to admit it. It was just "easier" so I usually took the path of least resistance to getting things working efficiently for my productivity needs. But ChatGPT has really unlocked things for my novice self. Everything from simple questions to fun ones. Like I had an SD card showing as empty, but I thought it had been formatted, so I asked ChatGPT how to recover lost data on the card, and it walked me through every step - I recovered a ton of data off that card. I just installed Linux Mint on an older Lenovo laptop and it's awesome to have a fast portable laptop again. I'm excited to dual-boot my older HP Envy AIO computer in the near future, windows 10 has become too buggy for my tastes lately.
