I wish I had a "default" meal for times like this (which happens somewhat often 😓). I like to think oatmeal would do, but the way I make it (plain, with a little salt) it would get boring quickly. I know because I have it like that for breakfast somewhat regularly, and while it's fine in the morning since I'm too sleepy to pay attention to flavor, I know I would hate it later in the day. I tried mixing it with different kinds of fruit, but I feel like every time both the oatmeal and fruit make each other worse.

I feel like oatmeal would be good as a base, I just don't know what would be a suitable flavoring for it.

I wouldn't vouch for other trans people, but I will admit that I was the same way. And like you, I was that way into my 20s, not just as a teen, which seems to be the more stereotypical age for doing that among cishet men.

One thing that I find interesting, is just coming out (to myself) has been enough to change my libido and habits. Where masturbation is something that I would do 1-2 times a day, I've only masturbated once over the past week.

Same for me, and I don't know about you, but back then at the end I often felt a sense of shame, which I don't anymore. Also now when I do it, it's more about focusing on the sensation throughout my body, it's harder to get off by looking at porn.

My appetite has also completely changed. I had a habit of compulsively grazing and cleaning my plate, but I have been recognizing when I'm full and it's much easier to control my calorie intake.

I swear I made this same post like a month ago lol. I think it's just because I pay attention to and care about how I feel now, whereas before I assumed feeling like shit all the time was just the default state of being alive, and making yourself feel shittier by overeating is just how eating is supposed to work. :::

regarding the "authenticity in punk aesthetics" thing, one thing that's freed me of being overly self conscious about that is observing that in hip hop fashion, it's pretty widely accepted that people wear gear from sports teams they might not give a shit about or bands they don't listen to, and "it looks good" or "I like the colorway" is a good enough explanation that nobody judges anyone else over. tbh it seems a lot of younger people do it in general, some of them might dress goth but the closest to goth music they listen to is a few korn songs. they accept that it's all aesthetics.
