I remember trying the reddit version, and uninstalled on the first full screen ad. After asking about this on the Lemmy version, got a nice down vote 👉👈

Nooo Wayland, it doesn't work on android...it's gonna break my emergency workstation xD
Tbh, I wanted to install gnome3, 'cause well...it's basically a mobile desktop, the interface is very touch friendly. But it doesn't work cause Wayland, and it would probably be a lot heavier to run.

Wait isn't this the standard? Debugging can take hours, but it takes like 5min to reinstall
I've used Termux with proot-distro to install Debian with xfce4 on my Android phone. I can use it on a monitor with a usb-c to hdmi cable, or just vnc into it from a PC, or use the phone itself with RVNC to have a desktop "in hands". Sensor data is sadly not working properly, so no CPU usage and temperatures are a bit off as well.

isnt the RP3+ a bit under powered for PS2 emulation? Im pretty sure most games are not playable unless you underclock/hack/downscale. Also, they are mostly just android devices, you are still have the 'screen control only apps problem, thou they might streamline how to configure and link screen positons to buttons
I'm enjoying FFXII Zodiac Job System (International Edition) on the Aether/PS2 emulator, and using a Rom hack to simulate the Zodiac Age dual job experience from the newer release. Maybe I won't lose my save files this time xD

Stargate Universe. First season was garbage, but from like half of season 2 forward it was really good, and it ended on a huge cliff hanger

Not sure, but I think there is already ways to run android apps on a Linux desktop, the thing I'm talking about is basically running a Linux container on Android and connecting in it thru VNC.

As long as you have like, +3gb of RAM you should be fine with something like andronix or userland. It has a few limitations, but for emergencies is quite nice.
The problem with most devices is the lack of HDMI thru USB-C, as most use USB C v2.0 and you need 3.1 for that to work, which is why I went with a Samsung flagship, dex is nice too.
If you have that, you can just stick it on a dock or hub and now you can use a monitor, keyboard/mouse easily.

Take a look on Termux, Userland and andronix. Just don't forget to get termux from F-Droid.
Anyone experimenting with Linux on Android around here? I was having quite a hard time finding a decent IDE to use on DeX so Im just running a full desktop and coding on vscode. The performance is surprisingly good, just wish it was easier and more stable to set up gnome, as it just looks like it would fit a touchscreen and the android aesthetic really well.

I got a Samsung flagship mostly for DeX, even tho I'm enjoying the whole thing, I really wish desktop mode on Android was more easily accessible. Like 99% of the market doesn't even use the required USB C version for it.
As well as better app compatibility when going on a big screen, a lot of android apps just don't scale well.

I do mostly FFXIV and emulation, but just got into RuneScape 3 and it's super fun. I was quite surprised, as it's not a very actiony game, but the questing and style just grows on you.
